"Oh, trust me, there's a method to my madness."

[She flashes a cocky grin toward Natasha. She doesn't appear to be armed, either.]

"Warn you now, though, this next part is kinda gross."

[Amusement flits across Natasha's face at the girl's attitude, the brash confidence despite the fact that they're rushing towards a fight. Considering how infected the barracks had been with tension and frayed nerves, it was a welcome change.]

I take that to mean you don't intend to just rush through them all naked then?

[xenamorphs]

"Actually? Kind of."

[She grins. And then her skin, hair, and outfit are swallowed by green, leathery hide that suddenly sprouts over her body. Her limbs stretch, her mouth forms into a beak, and blades erupt from her joints.]

-Let's do this.-

[Okay, so it's not the first time Natasha's been with someone who suddenly turns green and changes into something not-human, although it still startles her and she tenses, just in case, because she doesn't know this girl and doesn't want to end up an inadvertent target of... whatever just happened. But then a voice sounds in her head, the girl's voice, completely normal, still the same cocky attitude. That's enough to have her relaxing a fraction, since whatever the girl turned into seems less inclined to be smashing her.

When she speaks, her voice holds a note of humor, impressed all the same.]

Well. That's a useful trick.

[xenamorphs]

[The beak that has become her face isn't flexible enough to emote, but when her thought-speak voice sounds out again, it sounds like it's grinning.]

-You have no idea.-

[With that, she turns and hurries toward the fight again.]

[It's disconcerting, hearing someone's voice in her head, but she brushes that aside, because they've got incoming and she keeps pace with the girl, her gaze quickly taking in the numbers they're facing. She lifts her gun, takes down one of the nearest cultists rushing them by putting a bullet in his knee. She'll go for kill shots if she needs to, but there's a girl with her, and despite the fact that she can turn into... something, Natasha's not sure what she's capable of or accustomed to. At the moment, she plays it safe.

That and she keeps half an eye on the girl until she knows what she's capable of.]

[It turns out that what she's capable of is a surprising amount. She meets the cultists in a nimble, leaping flurry of blades and blood. And she is not pulling the punches. Luckily, the killing strikes are all clean, but they're unmistakably lethal nonetheless- mostly aimed at wings and necks.

And then there's what seems almost like laughter from her, in that same thought-voice.]

[Natasha takes that in stride, although as the girl launches herself into battle, dropping foes around her with no hesitation, Natasha feels herself relaxing a little. She didn't have to worry much about keeping the girl safe or pulling her own strikes, so she didn't bother, taking down the cultists with a single-minded determination and a deadly accuracy, wither it was with her gun or her daggers.]

So I take it you've fought like this before?

[xenamorphs]

[She chuckles, a bit darkly.]

-Oh, maybe once or twice.-

[She uses the blades along her arm to block a cultist's strike, then reaches up and finishes him off.]

Useful to know. [She flips a lunging attacker, dropping him into the dirt and finishing him off before rising to meet the next, her movements smooth and flowing from one attack into the next. The cultists are scattered out and disorganized, obviously having planned for the element of surprise to give them their advantage here. It wasn't really working so well for them, although there were a few that seemed more skilled than the others.]

So what do I call you?

-Name's Rachel.-

[A cultist lands a blow along her side. She turns around and grasps his wrist, then slits his throat with a wrist-blade. The cut begins congealing quickly, and she glances down at it and laughs.]

-Man, these guys do heal fast!-

Natasha. [She offers her name in return as she takes down another cultists with the same easy efficiency. Her blades are out then, better for working in close combat, especially when one drops down out of the sky directly behind her. She goes for the lethal blow and he drops.]

Not so fast when you aim for the head or the heart, I think. Haven't had a chance to test that theory thoroughly enough just yet, though. Looks like that's about to change.

[Well, ordinarily she'd point out that she meant the Hork-Bajir morph, but she doesn't really want to let anybody know that this morph is virtually new to her in actual battle.

Besides. Exchange of useful information.]

-Actually, the wings seem to work just as well on them as they do on us. And theirs are bigger targets.-

[Natasha tests that theory on the next one that lunges at her, arching one eyebrow when he drops with a howl.]

Huh. Well that's useful. Now I understand why everyone keeps their wings covered so often.

[She knew how sensitive her own were but this was never something she would have attempted on a friend, not in sparring. And she'd never gotten this close to the cultists in the jungle.]

-They always said damaging the wings was dangerous. I just figured it worked the same way for these guys.-

Makes sense. [And was an easily exploitable weakness, one she took advantage of when she needed to. Cultists were still dropping in on them, but the pair of them seemed to be holding their own in their little corner here.]

Somehow I think this just cancelled our vacation tomorrow.

[xenamorphs]

-You kidding me? Far as I'm concerned, this is the vacation!-

[One could scarcely deny that life in the village can get fairly dull, to people more used to days like-

well, days like this.

And it's pretty obvious, watching Rachel in action, that she is all too used to days like this.]
