Day 5

I'm absolutely sure.

[he frowns at her concern, wishes that he'd just been more careful, taken better care of what he'd been doing. His grip tightens around her for a moment.]

He won't be, Sabriel. He won't come after you. He's gone. Totally gone.
thebellthatbinds: (I see)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-03-31 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ducking her head with a nod Sabriel leans into Max at that careful squeeze, still not quite believing Mogget to be gone but if Max survived an encounter with him then...maybe she would be safe.]

How far...where are we?

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-03-31 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Near the edge of T8. Something's messed it up. That's why it's dark.

The medical bay shouldn't be too far though. We were heading back to the barracks when we were attacked.
thebellthatbinds: (disappoint)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-04-01 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Okay...okay.

[Holding tighter to Max's hand she takes up as brisk a pace as she can manage, thankful that at least her legs weren't broken when Mogget first grabbed her.]

I'll try not to black out before then.
abjurer: (Pensive)

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-04-01 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
If you do, try and give me some warning. I might be able to save you a worse concussion. [Like he hadn't been able to save her from getting hurt.]

You'll make it though. You're pretty tough.
thebellthatbinds: (facepalm)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-04-01 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'll try.

[She can do this, it's just a couple more steps, right? And after that just a couple more again...]

If I can survive Astarael and Apep I can survive this.
abjurer: (Guys where are you going?!?)

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-04-01 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Astarael and Apep? Who are they? [Apep is a vaguely familiar name. A god, right?]

Or... you could tell me about your home. I don't know much about it except that you have Charter magic, right?

[It's about the most unsubtle ploy to keep her engaged that he can imagine, but if it works, who cares?]
thebellthatbinds: (can't see me cry)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-04-01 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Apep is...dark god. Hurts people, changes them.

[She doesn't really want to spill Helios' secret though so she quickly changes the subject, her breath hitching for a moment when her leg suddenly gives way and she has to hold on tight to Max to stay up. Breathing heavily she lifts her hand to the largest bell on her Bandolier, her voice barely above a hoarse whisper.]

Astarael, The Weeper...calls all to death when rung. It was the last thing my Father did in this world.
abjurer: (Study)

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-04-02 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
[He bends a little to help support her weight when she stumbles, then helps her to wrap her arm around his shoulder.]

It's more than a bell though, isn't it?

[He looks over the bells and can feel something from them, power. It resonates a little with something inside him.]

thebellthatbinds: (facepalm)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-04-02 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
They're tools of necromancy...but Abhorsens bells are for returning the Dead to Death, not enslaving them. That's my war t'fight at home...

[Panting hard now Sabriel blinks at the dark corners growing in her vision, the growing blur of the buildings passing by. The further they walk the more she leans her weight against him, her feet starting to drag.]

I...I think I might faint, Max...
abjurer: (Pensive)

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-04-02 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Could do with something like that back home. That's kind of what I do. Exorcisms. Sending back the spirits that get trapped in life.

[He pauses when she says that, chewing his lip pensively.]

I think I can carry you. Is that okay?
thebellthatbinds: (I see)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-04-02 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
They're not just spirits, they're monsters.

[Details about the Dead of her world are going to have to wait though. Blinking hard to try and hold off the oncoming numbness of unconsciousness she nods her head.]

Yes...it's fine...
abjurer: (Serious)

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-04-02 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
...yeah. Seen a few of those.

[Demons, or things as close as made no difference.]

Alright.

[He shifted position, stooping to get his arm beneath her knees and scooped her up so that she was cradled against his chest.]
thebellthatbinds: (dying)

Day 5

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2013-04-02 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wincing at the flare of pain around her ribs when he lifts her she settles with a shaky breath. They would be safe soon...just a few more steps, then they'd be okay. As the darkness creeps up Sabriel tips her head to rest against Max's shoulder.]

Thank you...I'm glad you found me...

[Her words are a little slurred, barely louder than a whisper before she lets the exhaustion take her, going limp in his arms when she finally passes out.]
abjurer: (Oh fuck bad things)

Day 5

[personal profile] abjurer 2013-04-02 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[He turns his head a little, pressing a light kiss against her forehead when she curls against him. Her words make him falter for a moment, and he takes a shuddering breath, forcing himself to keep walking. He can't break down, not until she's safe.

It's only when she loses consciousness that he speaks.]

Oh god, Sabriel. I am so, so sorry.
