[ she saddles up on rapidash, empoleon and lopunny by her side, before glancing over at Pearl and Diamond with a worried look. this would be the first time they would battle someone that wasn't a trainer or a pokemon. it felt... wrong. ]

We'll be more mobile if we ride our pokemon. Let's stay together if possible!

day 2

[heartofthematter]

[speak for yourselves!! Diamond would be better off on foot, really, considering his pokepals, but he nods and Moo's his mode of transportation.]

Um, um, before that-- There are these 'scanner' things we got, and they don't kill people, so let's try to use them if we have to fight.

[the last thing he wants to see is his two best friends killing anyone.]

[Only if they're in danger.

Pearl slips onto Rayhiko, as if he's made for it. He probably is. Chimhiko's out too, stretching, but Pearl's keeping Chahiko in his ball for the moment. No sense in alarming the bird too much.]

Don't panic if you two run out, okay? Or if you lose it. [He's amazed he can keep his voice from shaking.] That goes double for you, Diamond.

[Business, you know.]

You're right... let's be careful and incapacitate whenever possible, then. I don't--

[ like this, or have a good feeling about this, or... but she doesn't say that out loud. admitting weakness isn't ladylike. ]

[That goes double for you, Diamond. He's partially hurt by that, Pearl, but he keeps a tight lip and nods. He has to be strong, like with Team Galactic. He can do this.]

Twenty. Twenty people. [It's mostly a murmur to himself. Twenty people he won't have to-- to kill. Twenty enemies to keep his conscience clear. Twenty for him to have to knock out and take in, and that twenty-first is something he's going to be very regretful of. Maybe he'll just knock them out still. That sounds okay.

After a short moment, he smiles comfortingly at Platina.]

I don't like it either, Missy, and we'll do our best. Pearl doesn't want to hurt anybody like that either.

[Dia hopes his best friend doesn't, anyway.]

[There's a pause in their flow of conversation, despite the need to get out and fight. Pearl nods after a moment, turning Rayhiko out.]

Yeah, I don't. Let's get going already!

[-- He's off, you two. Catch up.]

Of course.

[ nudging rapidash into a canter to catch up, but she turns to nod at Diamond and Pearl once before turning to study the oncoming mob. ]

... Whatever happens, let's make it out of this safely.

[Don't think he didn't notice that pause, Pearl. He did. But he nods. Moo's large and in charge, remembering what Dia'd told him about not killing and determined to keep to it.

Though he's going to bend on the part of "if I get hurt".]

[And into the mob they go! Rayhiko is very much in his element; he sends out Shock Wave after wave in the direction Pearl points. Always the immediate area; never powerful enough to kill, only to stun and knock out.

Chimhiko's movements are pretty much the same - blows to break bones, like legs and arms and wings, to dispatch and render useless. Some fire here and there to power his punches and kicks.

And always putting priority of protecting the Lady over anything else. He and Diamond are bodyguards again, manzai set aside and what skills they've gained being put to use.]

[ empoleon and rapidash coordinate their fire-and-ice attacks almost perfectly, though... noticeably holding back their full potential, too. Platina still couldn't get used to the idea of attacking non-trainers and non-pokemon, and it shows. still, lopunny was there, closer by, to drop-kick whatever cultist manages to break past her vanguards.

and also to guard her two bodyguards. trying to be sneaky about it, but, really, she wouldn't forgive herself if they were injured. ]

[And Diamond's last, as always, and the most hesitant in attacking the Cultists. He sends out Wig and flurries of leaves distract their enemies while Pearl and Platina do their things, and on top of Moo he can see the battlefield like a general.

Except he doesn't feel like much more than a boy with only the drive to protect his friends. It's hard, looking out and being able to see bodies beginning to drop from others doing what's necessary, so he clumsily slips down and leans against his big mammoth's backside as the leaves turn into ice shards that pelt against their enemy's wings. That'll hurt them pretty badly without killing them hopefully.

And when he's sure some of them are knocked out, out comes the Scanner to start on the process of capturing them. This leaves him pretty damn open for attack.]

[And a Cultist does take his chance -- in a flash (proving you should double tap, Diamond, double check) he slices Diamond's upper arm with his blade. Pearl looks over at Diamond's yelp (and who wouldn't, it hurts and it stings and it burns--

No. That's just Pearl, sending the perpetrator up in flames with Chimhiko's Flamethrower. He watches the man (bastard) burn, along with his hesitance to kill people.

Adn then, a moment - after time pauses, not literally, but feels like it --] Dia!

[Off of his Luxray and to his best friend's side, nose aching from the stench of burning flesh and feathers. Rayhiko stands his ground on keeping enemies off, because Pearl's in no shape to order him around. Chimhiko hesitates, but does the same.]

[ she turns abruptly at Pearl's voice, as does empoleon, and for a moment she just freezes up. her bodyguards had always been the ones protecting her, she'd never actually seen them get injured, she hadn't been there when Diamond was speared through by Giratina and even this much of a wound had her in panic. ]

Diamond--?!

[ empoleon immediately launches a full blizzard at his attacker, ice complementing Chimhiko's fire attack perfectly as Platina runs to Pearl and Diamond's side. ]

[Enemy thoroughly destroyed, Wig and Moo keep to their words and back up enough for the three to be safe together. They're not gonna kill. Diamond's resolve won't let them, as upset as they are.

Diamond himself is looking at his wound, gauging it (not too long, it didn't hurt too badly, but it was a fair amount of blood - it kind of felt numb actually? shock or something, he doesn't know--), and can't even smile reassuringly at his two friends when he's realized what's happened. He stands shakily, squeezing where is wound is beneath torn fabric on his right arm.

They killed someone.]

Pearl, Missy... [His voice is soft, but not because of the shock of the wound. It's not a fond soft either. It's kind of disappointed.] You... Y-You shouldn't have.

[This is not the time, Diamond, and Pearl wants to shake him and yell at him -- but he vents his frustrated on the decimated corpse with a kick. He's definitely ignoring how terrible that must be.

He must sound like he's steadying himself, too, even as he speaks.] We had to.

[First his arm -- what about his neck? His gut? (Pearl pushes off the memory of Giratina's Shadow Dive, ramming into Diamonds stomach, with minimal success.)]

You should be more careful! [And he's hoarse because he wants to yell but he isn't going to.]

H-he attacked you first--!

[ it was a childish, unladylike response and she knew it. but her mind was reeling--she couldn't really understand the gravity of what they'd just done, not in the face of Diamond's wound. for the moment, that was far more important than anything else. ]

We need to get help for that, and quickly!

[heartofthematter]

[Diamond flinches at Pearl's kick. That wasn't right, and you know it. Enemy or not.

Time's always gone slower for Diamond before, but now it's fast and Moo's trumpeting re-alerts him to the situation. While these three are panicked, the Cultists are still around and he really doesn't want to leave them but this wound might-- might be a liability. He closes his eyes, then reopens them and forces a smile.]

I'll be fine, Missy, Pearl. It's nothing but a little cut, I think, so I can get someplace myself. [Nevermind that he can't really move it too much right now - or feel it move anyway, he sees it move just fine. See? It's fine. He can move it. Somewhat.] Um, there's infirmary people back at the barracks.

[Yes, he's wanting to go alone.]

[Shut up, moral repercussions and reprimanding can wait.

Pearl hesitates; he knows his best friend better than anyone else. But going alone, wounded--]

No way. We'll bring you back.
