Day 6

[On the fifth day of hard fighting, Chouji is close to running on empty. He ducks into a quiet corner, devours a bag of chips, and follows them with a soldier pill. Not one of the tri-color pills his clan uses for their ultimate technique. This is just a chakra replenisher to get him through the rest of the day. It won't start breaking down his body as fuel. He'll pay later all the same, but the price isn't as steep with standard issue pills.

Back on the move, Chouji shivers as he enters one of the weather impacted quadrants. Better cold than heat. And then he catches sight of someone familiar. Another friend has made it through the past few days safe. Good.

Chouji works his way closer to Korra, waiting for her to get a break. He won't distract her at a crucial moment. Eventually he sees his chance to call her attention.]

Korra!

[precipitous]

[ What he may observe before she stops to take a breather is her using the snow in the air to encapsulate cultists in ice. It's an easy way to avoid killing, and the snow was everywhere. She should have come here sooner. She was, quite literally, in her element.

Once she's satisfied that the cultists in the area are well and truly frozen in place, she fist-pumps in the air and then turns when she hears someone call her name. ]

Chouji! Hey! It's good to see you in one piece. [ She seriously means that. ]

[Chouji is suitably impressed by Korra's bending. The combination of fluid martial arts movements and ice manipulation isn't quite like anything he's seen before. It skips right over the seals and specificity of ninjutsu, the movements more natural. Plus the fist pump at the end makes him grin.]

You too! That was amazing.

Would you like some company for awhile?

[He doesn't offer help, because Korra's already shown she can take care of herself, but Chouji does believe in having teammates or backup whenever possible. He's not the solo mission type.]

[precipitous]

[ She grins right back. Yeah, she's pretty good. ]

Not at all. I'm starting to go crazy without someone to talk to.

I think I can help with that, at least.

[The lull doesn't last long. Chouji's arm and hand expand. A punch from a fist the size of the man's torso takes care of a cultist to their left.]

[precipitous]

[ As the cultists draw near, she uses waterbending to gather snow on her arms until she has two, long water whips at her disposal. She uses them to knock over two approaching cultists before sealing them to the ground with ice. She tries to keep an eye on what Chouji is doing, too - because that is definitely a style of fighting she hasn't seen before. ]

[Between the soldier pill and fewer Shifters, Chouji feels pretty good again. He expands his other arm but leaves only his arms multi-sized for now.

Korra wanted someone to talk to. As he closes with more cultists, Chouji decides he can still oblige, calling out a lighthearted comment rather at odds with the crushing blows he's currently dealing.]

I could grow to match my hands, but then I'd be too tall to hear you quite as easily.

[precipitous]

[ She laughs, almost in disbelief, as she gathers a snowball in front of her and flies it into the chest of a cultist. ]

I can’t say I’ve ever seen someone do that before!

[Not many people he's met have, unless they're from Konoha or have fought against an Akimichi. Given what he knows about Korra's world, gleaned from conversations with Aang and Ikki as well as Korra herself, he's not surprised by her reaction. The appreciation is nice, though.]

Well, I've never seen a snowball fight turned into an actual battle technique.

[It doesn't snow much in Konoha. Even in a village full of ninja, Chouji doesn't know of any with a technique that could what Korra does with snow.

As several cultists close with him at once, Chouji takes care of one but has to dodge another. His arm reverts back to its usual size as he does, hand in his weapons pouch and bringing a kunai upward in a smooth motion that obviously comes from long practice. That was too close. One arm. One arm with the jutsu is much better than two in the current circumstances. He can't limit himself to mid-range attacks with this many opponents.]

[precipitous]

[ Korra laughs raucously at that, freezing the cultist down by forming the snow into hard ice. ]

Alright, fair enough!

[ She deftly moves towards the group around Chouji, sweeping the legs of one close to her and sending him flying back with a miniature avalanche. ]

[Chouji takes care of one more of the cultists, leaving the last in the group for Korra as he sees a trio of approaching soldiers. They're still far enough away that he can manage an attack for which he needs a little more space.] You've got him, right?

Nikudan Hari Sensha! [Now a giant ball covered in hardened spikes comprised of his hair, Chouji rolls at the newcomers. He crushes two, but the third manages to dodge.]
