29th
Covered in blood. Some of not his own.
Diamond has some attempted bandages around his right arm, and he's holding it tight with his left hand. Totally attempting to disguise the pain with a smile. A very. Strained. Smile.]
Um, excuse me~! I, uh, I need some help.
[He'd be freaked out more if he wasn't in plain shock. Of a lot of things. There's a giant earth tortoise hesitant to come in, vines wrapped around Diamond's middle to help him stay up, but Lax - his Munchlax - is frantically tugging at Fuuko. As if the sight wasn't bad enough to garner attention.]
no subject
F-Fuuko is certain you need more than just some help, Fuuko will try to give you all the help you need! [To the... Giant tortoise now.] Uhm, could you please put him down over here?
[She points out an empty nearby cot to the Pokemon as she quickly goes to find some supplies from the closest medical pouch she can find. Some clean bandages, scissors and something to clean up should be enough for now.]
no subject
Thank you. I'm Dia-- [okay shock is starting to wear down a little and he's kind of feeling that pain. hold on. readjusting himself. nice to meet you, fuuko.] Diamond. Um, it's... it hurts a lot, I think, but it's not that big... I think.
[it's not - but it's deep. some stitching would be needed for sure.]
no subject
[First up she gently moves Dia's left hand away so she can cut off the bandages that are already there. She knows pressure on a wound is important, but if it isn't cleaned then it might get infected. That's what she knows and that's what she sticks to as she removes the bandages.
It's then that she notices the extent of the injury. This isn't something she can just clean and wrap up and call it a finished job. But cleaning and dressing wounds is all she's done so far. A quick look around the barracks shows that everyone else is occupied with something else, perhaps a new rush of patients that couldn't fit into the medical centre came in to grab everyones attention. It seems like she would have to try and treat this on her own.
... But she's hesitating, staring at the wound as though it might as well be staring right back. She said she could definitely handle this. Now though...]
no subject
He shakes his head a little. Not now. Fuuko's prolonged silence isn't nice at all. Lax taps her. Hey???]
Is everything okay...?
no subject
Mm, i-it's okay. It's... Okay.
[That last 'okay' was more to reassure herself than Dia, but it didn't do much. She's going to have to try closing the wound up and stitches would seem like the best way to do it... Or would it? She's heard of stitches before but never actually seen them for herself. Another opinion on this would be great, but again everyone still seems far too busy.]
Fuuko is going to clean you up first, that's the best thing to do.
[Plus it'll give her more time to think things over as she prepares some disinfectant and a sterile wipe from her medical pouch to start cleaning.]
no subject
[He's ready for some sting too - even if he's never had something quite this bad, he knows that cleaning injuries hurts.]
no subject
Are your Pokemon okay? Fuuko only knows of a few Pokemon, so Fuuko will be sorry if they are not really Pokemon after all.
[There might be other kinds of little monsters running about that she isn't familiar with for all she knows. She's still thinking about the idea of stitches, but having some upset Pokemon on her hands on top of that wouldn't be ideal.]
no subject
They are Pokemon, don't worry. [woooo. okay. okay.] They're fine. Mostly. Wig just needs... water. And Moo's still with them... My friends. They'll be fine then. Lax here just came out recently, so he's okay too...
[An affectionate pat for his Munchlax! Using his left arm. Something tells him - and it might be the odd heat in his right - that he'll be favoring his left for a while.]
no subject
[Gulp. So she still hasn't decided what to do about the stitches. Part of her wants to wrap the wound up and leave it at that, but another part wants her to go ahead and try to do her best, like she intended to do when she realised she was on the draft.]
The cut on your arm is much deeper than Fuuko was expecting. Fuuko thinks that putting a bandage on it will not be enough.
[Ugh. She's taking her time getting to what she wants to say. The thought of having to sew up a wound just doesn't sit well with her. Stalling over the subject isn't helping her feel better at all, even though she's thinking the opposite.]
no subject
Okay. [he'll wait patiently for her to continue. whatcha need to do doc.]
no subject
[Well she said the s word, got that out of the way. Perhaps there's a medical text somewhere which she can follow along with, that was how she learnt how to apply bandages on the last draft. She will have to take a quick look around for one when she leaves to find a needle and thread... You don't need special needles or thread for stitches, do you? This is awful.]
no subject
that means needle and thread right? Pearl had small ones after a particularly rough play day, but for himself...]
I haven't.
no subject
[Hopefully Dia knows what that entails, since Fuuko's going over everything she would probably need to do in her head. Namely poking a needle through someones skin. It seems like she would be hurting someone by doing that, and for some reason it seems a lot worse when compared to giving someone a shot... Though she wouldn't be too keen on that either.]
Please wait a moment, Fuuko needs to find the right supplies so Fuuko can do this properly.
no subject
but henry that first one was rightDiamond swallows thickly, thinking about a needle going through his skin, and nods. the pain's definitely settling in more now that the wound's cleaned and exposed like this.]Okay. Lax, will you go outside with Wig? Keep Pearl and Missy out if they head this way, and tell Wig to do that too.
[the Munchlax nods, hopping off the cot and - with one last look to Diamond - runs outside to meet the big tortoise. he's gonna have himself a war scar. cool right???]
no subject
peace no that leads to the bad endIf she doesn't get this right then he's certainly going to end up with some type of scar which won't be all that cool to her. She knows that leaving the wound for so long without treatment is a bad idea, and taking her sweet time to mull over what to do was a mistake, but the best she can do now is try to make up for it.Fuuko soon returns with a needle and thread, both of which came from a first aid kit. They look just like something you might use for sewing, which does little to reassure her. She's also luckily found a medical text after all, complete with diagrams and detailed steps on everything from the recovery position to dealing with broken bones. She kneels down next to Diamond's cot, needle and thread in hand, the book kept close on the floor next to her so hopefully Diamond can't see.]
Fuuko has returned. It won't be much longer until Fuuko gets started, then Fuuko can bandage you up.
[Is that the right thing to do with stitches? She quickly flips through the book, trying to find a section about 'stitching'. It takes much longer than she wanted to find what she was looking for, discovering that 'suturing' was the correct part of the book she needed... So she can bandage it, but only for a few hours. But wait, the diagrams here show someone using tools to move the needle, she was expecting to do this by hand. Just how advanced is giving someone stitches after all?!]
no subject
i just want to go out KEY styleDiamond studies her, and smiles wanly because of the pain.]I think you can do it, Fuuko! I don't think it could hurt any worse, after all~.
[this is an attempt to cheer her up okay!!! belief in urself!!!]
1/2
NO YOU DONTThe patient is cheering her on. How is she meant to feel about that? She appreciates what Dia is saying, really, but he's not the one who has to poke a needle through someones skin right now.]Fuuko will do the best Fuuko can do, please hold still until Fuuko is finished.
[One more quick glance at the book. Apparently local anesthetic can be used to numb the wound and reduce pain, but that just makes Fuuko feel that stitches really are far too advanced for her.
She's wasted enough time fretting over what to do and how to do it by now. With a deep breath she she holds the needle as steady as she can manage and moves her hand to Diamond's arm. The needle rests against his skin, all she has to do is push it through and go from there...]
2/2
She pulls the needle back and shouts out as loud as she can manage.]
Can Fuuko have some help, please?! Th-Thank you, thank you very much!
no subject
Of course, what Mia finds when she gets to that side of the room is a little disconcerting.]
What happened here? [She asks Fuuko, because the child she's helping looks like he doesn't feel much like talking.]
no subject
Stitches.
[That's all you're getting from him, ladies.]
no subject
A bandage really isn't enough for a wound like this, right? Fuuko did not want to wrap it up and leave it so Fuuko wanted to do more- But doing something like this is too much for Fuuko at this level!
[She feels bad for calling out like she did, but on the other hand it's better someone else actually sees to this than her. Sealing up the wound incorrectly or something else going wrong would be much worse than her asking for help.]
no subject
Fuuko, [because she kept referring to herself in the third person,] you found these supplies in a first aid box, right? Could you bring me the rest of it, please?
[And then, to Diamond,] How did you get this?
