Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[When Daria woke up, the lights shorted out as soon as she turned them on. She checked the cords for a sign of overloaded circuits, but she never did find out where the problem was.

Nothing broke after that, at least, although she seemed to give herself static shocks on just about everything she touched. That's when she finally lost her patience with the whole thing and headed outside.

Outside, so far, isn't going much better. She's gathering dirty looks from quite a few people and she's already heard a few let out a quick 'ouch!' as she walks past them. The stranger part is she can feel something each time it happens. But she's not even touching them!]

This is all getting a bit too Twilight Zone.

I don't know anything about that, but there's a lot of electricity in the air. At least, the air around me, if those dirty looks are any sign.

Just in the air? Huh, I would've thought maybe you were testing some scientific plan to zap stupid people with and it went all haywire.

No, but that's a good idea for practical applications of whatever this is.

27th (Sona)

[ Twilight sees Daria in the streets, and trots up to meet her. ] Daria! I haven't seen you; how have you...?

[ She feels a little jolt, like she touched a lightbulb the wrong way (which she's done while here), but it doesn't seem to be mere pain. The jolt goes through her entire body, and it feels like it's left her a little more purified than before, the feeling she gets after taking a long shower. She gasps a little and shakes it off, then looks around. ] That was weird.

[It happened again. Daria manages to look faintly annoyed, and just plain flat at the same time.]

Sorry about that. It keeps happening wherever I go today.

No, no, it's... it's fine. [ Twilight stares at Daria. Science! How did that work? ] Is it stronger if you make contact, or...? [ She reaches out a hoof to touch Daria. ]

[Careful, Twilight. That's a good way to get a shock, whether Daria wants you to or not.]

Hey- [Ok, so 'hands off' is probably a bit rude. And it'd be hooves anyway. But she can't help not really being comfortable. Besides...]

You'll end up getting it again if you do that.

Are you sure? Maybe it's a one-time thing. Or maybe I need to be a certain distance away from you. It's science!

[ She steps back a little bit, anyway, to give Daria some room. ]

I'm not a science experiment. [She does, however, have a very flat tone. And she must be a bit irritated, because something crackles in the air. Must be more static.]

[Daria will not hear an "ouch!" from Beast - instead she will see him flinch in reaction to the shock and then give her a cold, almost piercing gaze as the sunlight intensifies around his body. What was that for?!]

[And Beast will hear a sigh from Daria, who has decided not to be surprised by the giant talking, well, Beast.]

[Seems to be? She's claiming not to be doing it intentionally, at least.]

[The answer takes him slightly aback - not because of the words but rather the tone. She seems so... what's the word? Nonchalant?

But in response, he just cocks his head displaying a look of puzzlement. How can she not be doing it on purpose?]

[Raising his eyebrow at the answer, Beast looks up at the sky to see if that statement can be confirmed. No, he doesn't see any dark clouds, and he knows there's no thunder. He narrows his eyes at her - she's lying.]

[One on the way, Beast. One on the way.

Of course, while she's not quite lying, she is still wrong. She's just not ready to think she's giving off some electrical power for some reason she doesn't even know.]

I don't like it, either.
