Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Sure, Chien'd known that reappearing here by the old tree he'd stayed in for so long with wings a little less downy than before and body aching as always would be tough nuts. But with everyone having such big wings...

It was weird. It didn't smell right, didn't feel right.

He can't remember the layout of the village like he used to, so he's settled for wandering around and picking out faces he fuzzily remembers. Eating at the bakery. Picking up the few things he owns at the general store and weapon's shop. Finding Cer and the ensuing search for Ber. And a house, too, for the both of them (and the third whenever they find him later later on). Looking for Soren.

Seriously, all this and more. It's just that in the afternoon he's going to have a Doberman keeping at his flanks - one that isn't too friendly with people and is keeping an eye on these odd wing people.]

[Amid all of the disappearances of friends and the holes piling up in her life, some kind of feeling came in and took over, reminding her that getting close to people only brought pain for everyone involved. Pain and hardship and broken promises. Raven would have confined herself to her forge and her apartment if not for the need to still find food somewhere.

She's flying toward the bakery - something still comforting - when she spots him. A name rises to the front of her mind, Chien, and she banks as only a bird really understands and makes a fairly graceful landing for someone used to stopping on talons instead of boots. In the sunlight her wings glow and refract like one of her crystals.]

Is it really you?

[No hello necessary.]

[dogboy]

Who else would I be? [Is the immediate reply, though he's searching through his mind to put a name to her familiar face. The wings help though, because they make him think of birds and birds lead to Raven.


Raven! That's her name, yeah. He shifts awkwardly on his tired feet, glancing at her large wings questioningly. Even her, huh? What's been going on since he left?] What the hell's going on with everyone's wings?

[pendantry]

I like them. [Even though they remind her of some painful things. It's nice as well as wrong to have wings large enough to support her 'human' form.] Now I can always fly. No one can bother me.

[dogboy]

[It's not like he can remember colors and all before either, so...] Seems a little too good to be true, knowing this place... What's their catch?

[Least, what he remembered before he left. Yeah. He remembers the painful ones and the experiments best.]

[pendantry]

That it isn't all you. [There won't be much more elaboration than that. All the Raven parts of her can't believe she's seeing Chien again.]

Do you...remember?

[dogboy]

Being here before? Yeah. I've had a lot of practice remembering things back home, so this place is easy. Except where things are and names.

[... Her wings too hmmmm--] Soren! How's Soren, that dumb bird?

[Masaomi was actually flying a little, looking for people he might chat with or things he might do (he sort of wants to go to the Rec Center, actually) with his new Tsinku born wings when he sees... Chien.

Wow.

That's not what he expected at all, and as a result, he turns his wings and flies on down towards the guy to land a few meters in front of him]

Chien-kun?

[dogboy]

[This guy too? Jeez. How come a guy like this got big wings he could fly with?

Oh yes, he remembers Masaomi quite clearly.]

Oh, so even the clown's got wings he can fly with. [Irritated as ever.]

That's the first thing you say to me?

[And his lips turn into a little frown]

[dogboy]

[Oh boohoo.]

Yeah. Got a problem with it?

[generalflirt]

I'm more a little surprised.

[dogboy]

Why's that?

[hollower]

[Oh...she remembers you. Vaguely, but she does remember a time long ago, back when she was in Luceti once before, two years younger. They were never really friends, but Perona never considered this boy to be an enemy of sorts, either. He was just noisy, rude, and annoying. Even so, she remembers learning a few things about him as well, and though her memories now are hazy at best, she still approaches him. He doesn't reek of another's influence, and that makes her bolder, and more willing to talk. The whispers in her head tell her to rekindle her acquaintance from before, to make friends.

Her large, black wings are tucked neatly behind herself, but she flutters them to get his attention. She doesn't know if he'll recognize her now that she's older, but just maybe...]

Lost, little boy?

[dogboy]

[He eyes her wings briefly, and shakes his head. Has a feeling he knows her. Chien doesn't know a ton of people with her kind of hair back home and about the same amount here, so he feels he knows her but can't put a name to her. Wasn't she younger? And rude? Was it that rude priss? He doesn't know.]

No. I'm just getting reused to the village... hag. [It's a test.]

[hollower]

[Perona's wings ruffle at the insult, and her eyebrows knit together for a moment, but that's really all she does before a smirk curls on her lips. Yep, this definitely was that rude boy she met long ago, and she's actually kind of glad to see him again. Or at least the delighted whisper in Perona's head is. This boy's untainted by the other spirits, and if she plays her hand right, it'd be another person to spin in her ever growing web.

Perons snickers and straightens up, putting a hand on her hip as she looks down at the little kid.]

...Rude boy. It's good to see you again. I've been growing bored without your incessant pestering, horohorohoro!

[dogboy]

It's definitely the same hag, older or not. You have a stupid laugh.

[So she's sharing with someone too, like Raven and Masaomi and the rest of those big winged folks. The natural darkness inside of him from his past life as Cerberus likes what's in her.]

[hollower]

Mmh...should you really be making me mad, when you don't know if I've become stronger? Not very smart, but only so much can be expected of a child.

[And she has indeed grown stronger recently, especially with Twila's influence. With nothing to occupy her time, Perona's been practicing with her new affinity toward shadows and darkness. Needless to say, she's gotten fairly good at it. Not that she'd attack him outright, but he is testing her limited patience.]

[dogboy]

I don't caaaare if you're stronger or not, you're still Perona. I could take you on easily.

[It's kind of like a puppy talking big, though there's no real threat in his words or stance. Perona had been one of the nicer people after all, someone that he'd told his story from back home to.]

THE FIRST DAY BECAUSE SHE'S EASY TO FIND

[breezing]

[ Looking for Soren? He's easy enough to find, because he's always with Ikki, who is exceedingly easy to find. She's a creature of habit: airbending practice with Aang in the mornings (and these days practice with Lee some mornings, after). School. Playing with Soren near the Avatar house, or all around the business district of Luceti. Air tag in the skies, sometimes...

She's always out and about, so Soren is, too.

When Chien's within sight they'll be doing the last thing. Air tag in the skies, Ikki using the glider she got from Sokka for Christmas. They're circling and darting back and forth, each trying to hit the other with a low-powered gust of wind - it's clearly a game they've played before, many times, and Ikki's laughing. ]

YEAAAH

[dogboy]

[As he's remembering the village in the later afternoon, his thankfully found brother at his side, Chien spots them. He'd know those two anywhere.

So he's got no qualms about climbing onto the nearby roofs with Cer and watching them, reluctant to stop their game at first with so much on his mind about what he wants to say. But he'll shoot his hand up with a shout. No hesitation!]

Hey, you two!

[breezing]

[ That shout's enough to get the attention of both airbender and flying pokemon - and Chien should have thought that through a bit better, because it's also enough to have both Ikki and Soren angled down at him in a second.

Flying tackle time?

Flying tackle time. ]

Chien!

[dogboy]

[Oh no.

Oh no oh no no no--

BAM!

Cer is quite stunned for the moment at the flying tackle of his big brother, but then he starts growling something fierce. Get offa him.]

Get off of me! [It's said without a lot of fire though.] Cer, it's fine. This is Ikki and Soren. They're... friends.

[The word is forever strange. But he's got them. Cer backs down a little, though he's still wary and ears pointed back.]

[breezing]

[ Ikki will get up, but she's not moving that far away. Chien might leave again if she does. Although - Cer?

The airbender looks over at the dog, eyebrows raised. ] Cer as in your brother Cer?

[dogboy]

... The one and the same. [He sits up with a small groan, petting Soren affectionately. Hey dumb bird. Cer's sniffing the Swellow cautiously too.] Did I tell you a lot about my brothers?

[Because this must be weird.]
