Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Fire. Norma's not sure why it was fire, she's never spoken to the fire spirit yet, but that's what she got. And today, instead of learning just how to use her new wings like she's been doing for the past few days, she's playing around with her new powers over the fiery element. She's never had a deep fascination with fire before, just thought it was cool to make things blow up, but this time, as she scorches Relares symbols on the ground with her glowing fingers. she watches the ground sizzle and smoke.

Her wings ruffle a little, and she lifts her head, the voice in the back of her head muttering something, but she just grunts and tells it to quiet up. Norma wants to play around with this as much as she can, and that stupid spirit's been muttering nonstop to her these past few days. She's kinda learned to tune most of it out, until his tugging became something she couldn't resist.]

[Billy's out and about when he spots the fire - he actually wanders almost too close for comfort to where she's blasting the ground, and he can feel the heat in the air. Subconsciously his wings flutter, his shadow on the ground increasing a bit and sending a chilly air around him as if to protect him. It's not like he was in danger - well, probably not - but it's mostly just a precaution.

Glancing around, he spots the source of the fire.]

Hey, careful! Don't want to start a forest fire or something.

[Norma herself doesn't react much more than rolling her eyes and nodding, but the presence within her prickles, and her large wings ruffle in agitation. It's that presence that alerts her to be a little more on guard, and clue in on things around her. At first, Norma tries to ignore it, but eventually it's strong enough - and annoying enough - to make her lift her head up from what she was doing.

...Oh. Well then. That is certainly something to be guarded over, yeah. Her wings flare out just a little, to give her rather small size a more imposing presence, and she squints back at Billy with unease. Ngh, this is already uncomfortable.]

...Don't worry about it, I won't. Besides, it's not like I could darken those wings any more than they already are. [Sneering? What sneering? She's totally not sneering.]

[Wow, that was not the response he'd expected. He feels a stirring of irritation within him, and coupled with his own, his expression in response isn't that pleasant either.]

You don't have to snap at me, I was just trying to help.

[Unpleasantness abound! Because that kind of tone is not going to help calm Norma down any, even if the blame really was her own. She's on edge, and her eyes keep darting around, mostly at Billy's wings, nervously.]

Oh, okay then! [BIIIIG SMILE!] Thank you very much for the help I didn't need!

[Wow girl are you looking to get punched in the face because he'd love that]

Here's tip number two: sarcasm is really unattractive.

[Not that he'd be into her anyway - or want to be - but it's the principal of the matter.]

[Try it, buddy, and your nethers will be well introduced to Norma's foot.

And, haha...that's an interesting remark. Her eyebrows shoot up for a minute, wings and feathers puffing up irritably. Ugh, what's this guy's problem?! Can he just leave, seriously? She was doing real well before Blacky here showed up. Doesn't mean she can't mess with him, though.]

Oooh, does that mean you think I'm attractive otherwise? [Eyelash flutter~! And then--] You wouldn't be my first choice though, sorry.

[If he'd had any interest in her whatsoever, he'd have been annoyed by the mixed messages. As it is, he just scowls and looks away. She wants to have a sass-off? That's just fine with him.]

You wouldn't even be my last choice.
