Possession Event

Who: People in Luceti
What: Spiritual possession
When: The 26th to the 1st
Where: Luceti!
Summary: Check out the previous mod post.
Rating: If it gets smutty, move it somewhere private.

Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

  • Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.
  • Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.
  • Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.
  • Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.
  • Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.
  • Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.
  • Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.
  • Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

    Day 3 or so? IDK

Prim isn't entirely clear on the spirits - who they are, what they are - but she's figured out by now what it is inside of her. Or at least...she recognizes that there's someone else there. Someone warm, someone caring. Someone she almost recognizes. It's easy to coexist with Nala, whose purposes almost entirely align with Prim's own, although the spirit's reactions to people occasionally steer her a little out of her way.

Prim infused with Nala, for example, smiles immediately upon seeing Chouji at Seventh Heaven. She's never met the ninja before, but the part of her that has Nala says ally deep inside, and it feels easy to go over to him. "Do you mind if I join you?" That's still a bit shy, all the same.

Chouji is also getting on well with Nala, and when Prim comes comes in, he doesn't need to see the color of her wings to feel immediately at ease with her. A soft smile graces his face immediately.

"Of course I don't mind. Is there anything in particular you'd like to eat while we're here?" Food has always been among Chouji's first lines of defense when it comes to taking care of his friends. Nala's methods may be different, but that deep-down caring is the same.

"I'm not sure. I think maybe just a sandwich - I hadn't thought it through beyond it being lunch time. Unless you have a recommendation?" She's taken the opposite seat easily enough, though, and pulls a menu over curiously, a little taken aback by so many options. That's still new.

"I'm Prim, by the way. Primrose Everdeen."

"Well, do you have any favorite foods?" Chouji grins and shrugs. "I like everything, and I can follow a recipe well enough that we can probably have anything on here." Between customers, Chouji cooks for himself or sits in the main part of the restaurant, trying a different recipe every meal of his own so that he can get more of them down. The job is a very new one. And if he has company for lunch today, so much the better. Chouji wants to make sure that he gives Prim something she likes, something that will make her happy and put her at ease here.

He nods in response to her greeting. "It's nice to meet you, Prim. I'm Chouji."

"I like stews. Breads. Cheeses. Fruit?" Simple things, without fuss or fanfare. It's what she's used to eating, and some of the choices here - well, they're either unfamiliar or too rich for a girl who grew up with just barely enough, when she wasn't growing up with too little. Sometimes it makes her a little queasy to think of it all, all the food Luceti has. It's weird to accept that there is always enough, and that there's so much...variety.

She'll be hired in a day or two, and she'll be pleasantly surprised to see Chouji there - or depending on if she learns of his occupation or not, she might be happy to accept, knowing at least one friendly face is there.

"It's nice to meet you, too, Chouji." A strange name. It's not like one she's ever said before or heard before, belonging to none of the Districts, but - that's a little refreshing, honestly.

He keeps smiling and gives Prim a thumbs up. "You're in luck today. Stews take awhile, but there's one in the kitchen already, so we should be able to eat that. Is there anything you don't like?"

Because while he's in the kitchen, Chouji might as well see what else he can grab. Bread and cheese sounds like a good complement to the stew, and fruit isn't a bad follow-up, either.

Her name being shortened to 'Prim' rather than 'Rose' could strike Chouji as odd, given that he'd expect most girls to choose the flower. But it suits her. This is the first time he's associated the word with a reassuring calm rather than proper and almost prissy; he thinks the new association will stick, now that he's met Prim.
prims: (+ i like the sound of that.)

"In the kitchen...? Do you work here? Or is it a serve yourself sort of place?" Since most of the shops seem to be 'take what you want whenever you want', Prim supposes she shouldn't be surprised that Seventh Heaven might be the same way. "Not really. I'll eat anything."

Growing up hungry taught her to take what she could when she could, and to not be picky about it.

He laughs lightly. "I do work here. I was getting hungry, though, and I'd rather eat with someone than by myself in the kitchen." Especially the past day or two. He's been wanting company, people to look after, more than usual. Friendly enough in general, Chouji is going out of his way to avoid isolation today.

"If you give me a minute or two, I'll get lunch sorted out for both of us."
