[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

[Here we go! Pilouette is more comfortable talking to girls and is eager to make new friends. Just a tiny bit nervous, though much less so than talking to her romantic matchups, she smiles and sits down.]

Hello, Pilouette, I'm Flora! It's a pleasure to meet you. [ Flora gives a bright smile, definitely more at ease here than with her romantic meet-ups. Romance was new to her, but friendship was supposed to be easy, right? You just talked to people like you would normally! ]

["A pleasure to meet you?" Talk about polite...! It makes Pilouette try and sit up just a little straighter. After all, she doesn't want to give a bad impression...]

Yes! It's, um, a pleasure to meet you, too! How are you liking this whole thing so far? I've never actually done anything like it, so it's like, a totally new thing for me.

I haven't really done anything like this, either, but it's a lot of fun so far! A bit nerve-wracking, I'll admit, but I can't say I've had any unpleasant encounters.

[ Then again, she never really dislikes someone unless they're blatantly rude. ]

I hope you've been having a good time, as well?

O-oh, yeah! it's been great! To be honest, I'm like, not that great at meeting people, so this whole thing has been pretty good for me...!

[Introductions went well and Flora seems nice enough. Pilouette is almost confident that maybe Flora won't think she's uncool and relaxes a little bit.]

Sooooo. I guess I should say something about myself? Um, I'm seventeen but only for like, a little bit longer. I've lived in the United States for most of my life, but I was born in France. I guess out of all the stuff I like doing, I like cooking and baking the most. Especially baking.

Oh, you too? I'm also turning eighteen soon. Towards the end of next month, actually. Oh, but I spent most my life living in a...small town out in the English countryside. Though I moved a few years ago, and have been living in London since then. [ And then curiously; ] Have you spent much time in France? Or were you simply born there?

[ Flora brightens at the mention of baking. ] Oh, I love to bake as well! I've still got a lot to learn, but I hope to one day be able to make sweets that look as lovely as they do down at the bakery.

Well, I only lived in France until I was about three or so, in Lille. Daddy and I go back once a year to visit my grandparents, though. Or...we usually do. But you said you've been living in London? That's so cool! If you don't mind me asking, why did you move from the country?

[No wonder she seems so proper...That's what people from England are like, right? Well, if tv and movies are anything for her to judge by. She smiles when Flora mentions her own interest in baking. She's so excited to meet someone she things in common with!]

You and me both! The sweets at the bakery are like, totally incredible...! They're pretty hard to match up to, but I bet we can do it if we really work at it! Um, maybe we can practice together sometime!

[ She smiles. ] Oh, that must be nice. Ah--but no, I don't mind you asking. It was just...very lonely, where I lived before. So when I was given the opportunity to see somewhere new, I took it.

[ Being stuck up in a tower was pretty lame anyway, she would have died of boredom if she stayed up there much longer. ]

They really are. I was in there a few days ago, and I couldn't help but marvel at how pretty they all were. Ah--but I would like to practice with you sometime. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun! [ It's not often she finds someone willing to bake with her. Usually the Professor and Luke try to keep her as far from the kitchen as humanly possible. ]

Oh. That's...a pretty good reason to move. London must be pretty lively compared to the countryside, huh?

And the stuff at the bakery doesn't just look nice, they're like, totally delicious~! I don't know how Rapunzel does it sometimes...! Practicing together will help us both get better. After all, people learn easier when they study together right? It'll be just like a study group...but with baking!

It is! It's so much fun, watching all the hustle and bustle. Definitely a change from what I was used to.

Precisely! I'm sure we'll learn twice as fast, together. [ Assuming Flora doesn't burn something down. ] We just need to set our minds to it, and keep trying 'till we've figured out what works, right?

Right! Eventually we'll be able to handle the kitchen like it's nothing! Like, it'll be a piece of cake!

[She can't but giggle at her own terrible joke.]

It'll be a very sweet reward for our efforts, that's for sure.
