What: Magic Club revival meeting

Summary: Helios promised to have a magic club meeting and that is what he going to do.
Rating: PG


The time has arrived for the next meeting of the magic club and Helios has gone all out to make sure that new feathers and old members alike are comfortable and participating. With some minor preparations of some food and drinks there will be a few tables set up around the small area near the lake as well as a good amount of chairs too. Depending on the turn out this could go very well and he hopes it does.

There will be a few miscellaneous items about for anyone who wants to show off their magical skills as well. Said items include some chalk, some targets, and even colored sands for people to demonstrate with. While this was a time to talk about future projects and ideas one could also find friends and interested peoples who were more...hands on about things too. The area around the club meeting is also significantly cooler than outside the little bubble Helios has made to keep the heat out.

((ooc: Let's pretend that Helios sent out varying notifications for everyone for the magic club meeting. Even people who aren't magically inclined are free to stop by and just watch/ask questions. Filial spirit users are also free to come by as well! Innate magical abilities are not the only things accepted~))

[A good chance to meet and greet fellow magic users of different disciplines, Saleh takes Ewan to the meeting to expand on his learning. Perhaps it'd be a good learning experience for the sage as well.]

[So Saleh arrives at the western lake with his own student in tow...]

This is going to be so much fun, isn't it? I can't wait to learn about other magic! [As usual, Ewan is as excited as a little puppy about discovering new things.]

I can't wait to see them all! You think they'll be able to teach us some of them, too?

Perhaps...

[Saleh ponders a bit, wondering how it would be possible to learn magic without the aid of magic tomes or Filial spirits.]

Because I love everything you've been teaching me, don't get me wrong! Magvel's got great magic, but it seems so...limited when you know what else is out there.

[mountain_sage]

Indeed. Rydia had the ability to turn people into frogs, summon different creatures, and warp from one place to another...

[Just a few things he's seen since he's been here.]

I know there's people in Magvel who can summon phantoms...that's what Lute says, anyway. [Considering how smart Lute is, he knows better than to question her even if it seems a bit out there.]

Yes...I have heard that it is possible to summon such things with the dark arts.

[eagerstudent]

Oh, it is? Hmm...that's kind of a scary thought, actually.

[mountain_sage]

Yes. Dark magic is powerful, but it also has a greater risk of consuming you.

[That's why he hasn't bothered to learn it for himself.]

[eagerstudent]

It does? [unsure...he wanted to give it a shot, but now he's a little scared] Um, but what if you really tried to resist it?

[mountain_sage]

If one is strong enough, then one can handle it. Remember how I've told you that using too much magic can drain your body and soul?

[He's probably warned him of that at least a million times.]

This is especially true for dark magic.

[eagerstudent]

Oh, right...yeah, since dark magic is heavier and harder to learn, right?

[mountain_sage]

...And the greater power can be more taxing on the user.

Yeah...

But I'm still curious! I still want to learn about it, even if I don't ever use it.

Well, you may learn what you wish.

[Of course it's not Saleh's place to tell Ewan what he can and can't learn. He just wants him to be careful! Because Ewan sucks at being careful...]

[Noticing some familiar faces as he passes by, Eley pauses to greet the pair of them with a firm nod. It had been quite some time since they last met he realised.]

Ah, hello Saleh. Ewan. Could you perhaps explain what the purpose of this gathering is? I was just passing through... but now I have to wonder.

[mountain_sage]

Eleytheria.

[Saleh returns the nod.]

This is just a gathering for magic users to share their knowledge with one another. It is quite interesting, I think. I've brought Ewan, because he greatly enjoys seeing and learning new things.

[winds_voice]

I see... a place to learn about magic. I have also gained an interest in such a thing so perhaps I should stay here for a while.

[Besides the fact there are a few familiar faces here, so why not spend some time with them?]

Are you going to participate in the demonstrations?

I might...but I'm not sure. My magic isn't all that impressive...

[Useful, but not really meant for show. Saleh pulls out his Excalibur tome again. It had been a while since he'd tried to used it. Perhaps he should find out if he's ready now...]

Is it not? To someone who has not seen such things before I would say that it is most impressive.

[He recognises that book too... the wind-based magic Saleh had mentioned before as being particularly difficult to use.]

Even if the others are not interested, you will have my attention.

I suppose it can be, in the case. I have seen more impressive forms of magic during my time here, however.

I hope that it does not make you feel... inadequate. All magic is a wonder to me. That people can use it at all is fascinating. I am sure that you will continue to grow alongside them regardless of your current skill.

Yes, I still have much to uncover, even with my own magic. And Ewan...he is ever growing with his own power. I have no doubt that he will surpass me one day.
