Summary: Well. So sometimes the Malnosso actually do legitimate experiments that aren't heaped in heavy plot. This is one of those times. Look, just go read the mod post, would you?

[Hohenheim shifts through town warily, his hands in his pockets. Trisha had likely explained some things to him so far, but he was quite baffled overall.

At least here's a recognizable face. Hohenheim leans down as he faces his son.]

Ah... There you are, Edward.

[radioactivebrat]

[Edward stops short when he notices Hohenheim, suddenly hesitant. He's back? But he'd left, and... he'd looked so mad, and Mom's been crying on and off since it happened... now he's back? They can be a family again?

He's not alone here?]

...Dad? Wh... what's going on...? Where did you...

[philosophized]

I'm right here. [That's what he meant by 'where', right? Clearly. This is still very awkward - but at least he has no reason to leave this time, at least if Father really isn't here in this world.] Have you gotten... taller? [He asks because he's really not sure.]

[radioactivebrat]

[Edward doesn't answer; he fidgets awkwardly for a moment, then scowls and rushes forward to pretty much bodyslam into Hohenheim's legs, burying his face. He's mad at his father for leaving and upsetting his mom, but he's in a scary new place and he's just kind of relieved to not be alone.]

I dunno... but where's Mom?

[philosophized]

[He's startled a bit by the sudden movement. Is this a hug? Or some kind of attack?

Hohenheim looks down with a frown and then, uncertainly, but gently, gives the tyke a few soft pats on the head.]

Trisha's at the house. Well... The house we have here, apparently.

[radioactivebrat]

[The pat is about the post that Edward expected, and what he really wanted - the location of his mother - gives him the strength to pull back, back straightening, chin lifted. Okay. Okay, it's fine. If his dad is back, that means Mom won't cry anymore...]

What about you? Are you... home to stay?

[philosophized]

[Oh, the boy's released him. It did feel relatively nice in retrospect. Oh well. Hohenheim just keeps looking down towards him.]

There's much that needs to be done, Edward. [Doesn't he give such clear answers.] But it sounds as if there isn't anywhere to go for the time being. [Or at least anywhere that will advance his plans against Father.]

[That's... not the answer he wanted to hear, but even at his young age, he's not really surprised. His father had been present-yet-absent for a long time before he left, locked away in his office pouring over alchemy notes.

So instead of getting upset, Edward just looks down and away, tiny fists clenching.]

I can't find Al, either...

[philosophized]

Alphonse? Hm...

[He pauses and looks around, thoughtfully. Had Trisha said something about Alphonse? He's baffled.]

I can't seem to find him, either. Do you know where he could be?

[radioactivebrat]

No... he wasn't in bed with me when I woke up.

[And Alphonse hardly ever woke up without him- or rather, when he did wake up, Edward was the first to hear about it. He hasn't woken up alone since Al was born.]

[philosophized]

That's odd. What was it that Trisha had said... [He muses as he gazes off to the sky.]

Huh?

[He gets a raised brow. Did Mom say something about Al?]

[philosophized]

Ah, that's right. She said that Alphonse isn't here at all. [Seems to check out.]

[radioactivebrat]

Not here?

[Um. He's like four, dad, don't say that so casually.]

Then where is he?

[philosophized]

Home... Yes. Alphonse should be safely back at home. [A shame. It's been so long since he's seen him. But at least he's gotten to see Edward again.]

[radioactivebrat]

Then we should go home and find him! He's just a baby, he'll get into trouble without me around.

[Edward stomps his foot oh-so-maturely. Come on, pops, man up and get them out of here!]

[philosophized]

I'm afraid that it's not so simple. Trisha's told me that when we return home, no time at all will have passed. So, I'm sure that your brother will be quite alright.

[radioactivebrat]

...Whaaat?

[Wow, Dad, you make even less sense than usual.]

[philosophized]

[This... is not working out.

How does that even work.

It's just not making sense.]

Let's find your mother. She can tell you all about Alphonse.
