[Anya intended to check out the boats, mostly due to curiosity - the lines seem so long and it almost doesn't seem worth it, but the rest of Bubble Land seems obnoxious at best. Still, there's some element of ... head shaking involved in watching people get hit by shifts while waiting on the lines themselves, watching people further ahead of her turn pink, or green, or spontaneously bursting into song. Things that were usually considered spell misfires back "home". If that even counted as "home" anymore.

As it gets closer to her turn to step into the boat, Anya squints at the other line, trying to determine whom her partner would be before it reaches that point. Still, it's not revealed to the brunette until it's finally her turn.]

That took forever.

[It had entertaining for Jade to observe the people around him in line undergo a variety of similar shifting effects - that is, until the man in front of him was turned into a woman. That led to a brief moment of embarrassment before he was able to reel in his reaction.

Jade kept reminding himself that he was a soldier. His self-control had always worked without flaws. This phobia was just some unusual bug in his system that had to be ironed out.

Then the time comes, and he finally sees the woman he'll be rowing with. He took some steps forward that were a bit stiffer than usual as he approached the boat, while he guides himself through the motions. Control your breathing rate. Adjust your glasses. Give a casual smile.]

Why yes, it did. And yet, I'm left feeling that the shifting side-show has ended all too soon. It's a shame. I can only hope that this voyage proves to be half as entertaining.

If it doesn't, we should demand a refund.

[She doesn't even really know what they're supposed to get out of the ride. So far it seemed fairly unexciting, but they hadn't even gone into the tunnel yet.]

[He sits still in the boat - calmly. As he's trying to keep his breathing rate to a normal level and control as much of his body that's reacting as possible. If he can master this and keep himself from slipping into a truly Guy-esque reaction, then... well, it would be a step towards preserving his dignity.

He focused his gaze towards the river as he spoke non-chalantly; controlling himself without looking at her was like doing the "easy mode", essentially.]

If we did that, I'd have to wonder what we'd get back.

Probably just the same useless token we spent to come on here. But then we could go spend it on something else. Like a popsicle.

[Of course everything was still free anyway, but it's nice to just pretend that it might cost money.]

I can't say that I have much of a taste for cold treats. [Being raised up north gives him more of a taste for some warm and spicy curry.

He gives a smirk - feeling in control enough to hazard a quick glance towards her.]

Perhaps we should try pose as Malnosso officials and see what we can get from them in that instance.
strangelyliteral: ([red] this pleases me)

It'll be a start. Once we find out how much they're really worth, we can educate others to use them wisely.
yourfononsarewhack: (stating a thought)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-03 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Going that far sounds troublesome. Why not keep whatever benefits we reap to ourselves?
strangelyliteral: ([red] it could be bunnies)

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-11-04 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I just like the thought of inspiring them toward wanting an economy for themselves once they see the good in it.
yourfononsarewhack: (just talking)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-05 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? You'll have to figure me, but I have some difficulty in seeing an innate good within an economy system.

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-11-09 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
What's so difficult about it? It gives people reason to work and be productive, and those who are already being productive can get compensated for their efforts.
yourfononsarewhack: (I have you now)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-11 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It also invites such lovely concepts such as politics, corruption, burglary and bribery. We leave behind a whole host of headaches with money. [He's smiling as he says this, oddly enough. Not necessarily in a trolly way, but as if he's enjoying a battle. It's a lively debate.] The people here should find motivation enough in having to fight for their very existence. The populace just needs to come to understand what that truly means.
strangelyliteral: ([blonde] i don't understand)

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-11-12 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
A fight for our existence... [It's funny, because Anya never thought of being in this world as something like that, even with knowing that it was currently her only chance for survival. Maybe it was because she was hearing it from someone else that wasn't Buffy... that made the idea sound almost plausible. Almost.] ... And that fight is more important than being compensated for any efforts we may make toward that?
yourfononsarewhack: (a quiet memory)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-13 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
I've regarded compensation as a particularly trivial matter in the past. It's the work itself that matters.

[He adjusts his glasses slightly.]

Of course, not everyone has such a work ethic. Greed is very pervasive, after all. Perhaps selective incentives could be helpful for portions of the populace, but I doubt it would be truly necessary. After all, a number of the other inhabitants I observe happen to be the self-sacrificing heroic types.
strangelyliteral: ([dark] this place is crazy)

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-11-13 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems more like the people in charge see a name, have a list of traits, and then just decide to chuck them on in Luceti. Bubble of Heroes. Isn't that what this area was supposed to be making fun of?
yourfononsarewhack: (assessment)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-13 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly does not sound like an inaccurate analysis. [He recalls what Bil told him about Tyr the Hero and how the Malnosso followed his code. Could that be why Luceti had earned the organization's favor in the past? And of course the shift bomb incident had complicated their relations...]

In fact, the card I received reflects that. [He holds up his name card with a smile.] Apparently, I'm a farmboy who is some sort of a hero of destiny.
strangelyliteral: ([blonde] for the greater good)

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-11-15 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm a banished Princess who has to restore the honor of her kingdom with the help of her loyal followers. So, want to become a loyal follower?
yourfononsarewhack: (nostalgic)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-19 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's certainly got a quick wit. He smirks. The anxiety is still present, but now he feels something else in addition to it. It feels very peculiar and... tingly? It's certainly not an unwelcome feeling, if it's helping him not to freak out around her.

He smirks and adjusts his glasses.]

My, that's a bold request. My loyalty is not one that is easily gained by any means, but this farmboy is a different story. It's all a matter of naming the right price.
strangelyliteral: ([blonde] bedroom eyes)

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-11-19 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucky for you, I know all the right things about prices. Just what would it take to earn a farmboy's services, especially since we've already made it past the point of everything being free anyway?
yourfononsarewhack: (slight smile)

[personal profile] yourfononsarewhack 2013-11-22 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Unlike myself, the farmboy is a chivalrous sort. One who would easily end up downtrodden under most economical systems through his own foolish sense of selflessness. He'd develop some sort of unhealthy fixation on the the princess and refuse all promises of reward. Of course, the only reward he'd want would be the princess herself.
strangelyliteral: ([dark] the point was made)

[personal profile] strangelyliteral 2013-12-13 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
What a lofty goal. Would true love conquer all, or is he really after her kingdom?
