variety is the spice of life
Who: Everyone who wants to be here!
What: Total Recall 2014
When: The first week of the event, roughly April 9th-16th, give or take a few days depending on your character's timeline.
Where: All over Luceti, presumably
Summary: Chaos! Madness! Unreasonable happenings! You know the drill. Alternatively: characters wake up and sigh because god, not this again.
Rating: Varied. Anything frisky goes to appointments as per usual, chums.
Due to the size and variation of this event, it's probably best to have several logs for it to avoid one getting overcrowded and broken. Feel free to have your characters post their own entries, of course, if you'd prefer- you're more than welcome! This is for people who like to consolidate. Another log ought to be posted around the 16th for round 2.

[His eyes widen, looking immediately pleased by the news. Here he'd been worried that this replica of his would mess up his destiny, but they'd succeeded after all.]
That's excellent. We're still in the middle of conflict in my world, so I'm glad that at least your version of Auldrant is at peace. But... replicas? There are more of you?
[That's actually much less pleasant to consider, so his smile is short-lived. All he can envision is an army of people with his face, and it's really alarming...]
no subject
[He can kind of guess where the other Luke's thoughts are going.]
More-- uh, not more of me, no... but replicas were being mass-produced for a little while. There's at least a couple thousand left. Probably more. Replicas were showing up to their own funerals, so it was a bad situation. Some of them don't even know how to talk, so they can't really help themselves.
no subject
[Hopefully he won't have to worry about all that. Considering he himself wasn't replicated, it's possible that the whole issue won't ever exist.
It would be pretty rude to say that out loud, though. "I'm glad you don't exist"... there's no way to phrase that politely.
That bit about the funerals, though... it's concerning.]
...Am I... am I dead? In your world? Is that what being replicated means?
[Otherwise, why wouldn't he just have come home?]
no subject
[Luke wouldn't even be offended-- he's said that, thought that, multiple times himself. But he's here now, somehow, and he rather likes being alive, even though his whole existence is something of a problem.
He isn't expecting the other Asch to ask if he died, though. There's a moment where Luke can't even lie about it, a moment where he's wide-eyed, and then he quickly shoves it away.]
N-no! No, you didn't die when I was-- when I was born. [He lets out a breath.] I'm your isofon. We coexisted for seven years and it wasn't a problem. [Well. Usually.] But the other replicas were rushed. Some of them were made from people who died on Hod, and others were replicas of people who had their Score read.
[He rubs at his nose.]
Anyway, you went to Daath. When we first met... you were one of the God-Generals. I don't know how long you were in the Order exactly, but I thought about it, and it couldn't have been longer than six or seven years.
So, don't worry. The other you is fine.
no subject
He couldn't fathom it. Even this place wasn't quite so frightening; at least here he didn't have the choice to go home.]
I don't... understand. Seven years... and a God-General? Surely... he could have just gone back to Baticul at some point...
no subject
He can hear Asch in his head, screaming at him.
"You stole everything from me!"
Yeah. That's why he never came back. That's why...]
... Not with me living there. They thought I was 'Luke'.
[If Asch had come back and lived with them anyway, what would've happened to Van? Would they have thrown Luke out for being a fake, or accepted him much as they did now? But what-ifs never serve to make the situation any better, so he clamps down on them.]
If they didn't know about replicas back then, and they saw some kid trying to break into the manor, they'd probably kick him out...
[But he knows from having Asch visit his parents that-- that he'd still have a place there, as much as Asch. Of course, Luke doesn't exactly want to kick around at home. If Asch moved back into the manor, he'd probably take up traveling...
It's a nice thought, even if it's beyond him-- beyond both of them, now.]
I wish it could have been different.
no subject
Yeah, he doesn't want to touch that concept with a thirty foot pole. Just the idea of going home and being so utterly rejected- or worse, never seeing his family again, all the while knowing that he'd been replaced...
Yeah. No thanks.]
Is... is that why you called me... Asch?
no subject
[He runs his hand through his bangs, though they return to exactly where they were.]
Yeah. He changed his name to Asch, like the "ashes of the sacred flame". Even when he could have taken 'Luke' back, he didn't...
[The way he trails off hints that he has no idea why Asch kept his assumed name, and didn't take back what was rightfully his. Maybe it was kindness, in his own way. Maybe it was cruelty. He's not really sure, even now.]
no subject
...kind of dumb. He's really glad he managed to avoid that fate.]
I suppose it would be awkward, taking a name from someone else when you know how that must feel. I'm not sure what I would have done, if it was me.
[Or would he have done the same thing because it could have been him?
...He doesn't like this train of thought.]
no subject
You-- you think so?
[Asch actually thinking about Luke in a nice way? Hot damn!]
I thought he was just being stubborn. He really doesn't... like me that much.
no subject
[Ack. That came out wrong.]
Er... because... he was replaced with you. I'm sure you'd find it hard to get along with him if your roles were reversed, right?
no subject
I...
[He thinks back to that clash in Yulia City, and the firm gentleness Asch displayed by taking Luke with him while he was unconscious. Sure, they fought a lot, but--]
I want to say it would be different... but he was kind of patient with me after I found out I was a replica, and he's always helped me even though he probably hates me a lot.
[His voice falls.] I'm not sure if I'm that good of a person.
