What: It's a birthday party for Masaomi disguised as a beach party for everybody! And you're invited!

Where: The ocean shore!
Summary: So Gold came up with this idea where he wanted to throw Masaomi a birthday party, because that's a thing he tends to do. But he wants it to be more than just a party, so he invited in the village to the birthday party under the pretense that it's also a beach party!
Rating: PG-13 at best. If it get beyond that, take it off the comm!

[Indeed, Cilan did help prepare the food for this party, including a birthday cake for Masaomi--it doesn't say too much on it because lol secret birthday party, but judging by the colors used for the icing, and the fact that it's sitting closer towards the present table, Masaomi and others familiar with him should be able to figure out that it was made with him in mind.

Cilan can be found at the food table here, appearing to admire his own handiwork when it came to cooking this stuff, and privately noting which of these foods were not cooked by him so that he can try them for himself to (probably not so secretly) compare with his own. For some reason he seems perfectly content to just hang out in this general area for a little while before getting involved in any potential volleyball or swimming stuff, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find him if you're looking for him.]

[Whatever, go ahead and compare, Cilan, Gold won't complain about the large spread. In fact, he's enjoying one of your concoctions right now.

...Unsurprisingly, it's a burger.]

[Finishing off that burger, Gold grabs another piece of food and bites into it, a macaron from another table. Notably, it is NOT made by Cilan.]

Hey, this is really good, too!

Hm, really? [Cilan's reaching out now to pick up one of those macarons from the other table to look at.] I didn't make these ones, but they do look nice. You wouldn't happen to know who brought them, would you?

[Totally not so that he can add to those mental notes about who's food is good or not, or anything like that...]

Not a clue. [He hands off one of the macarons to Aitaro, who was hanging out nearby and eying them quite hungrily.]

I asked so many people I kinda lost track.

Hm. [Cilan seems to be looking at the cookie for a long moment before he actually tries it, eating the one he's picked up already.]

...Well, it certainly is very sweet, and there aren't any air bubbles, so it was cooked properly. No taste of staleness that I can tell, so it's fresh too... [...But there's something in Cilan's tone that almost suggests that he thinks he can do better somehow, even as he picks up another cookie to look at and try.]

You're gonna try and do it better, aren't you? [He's been around you long enough that he can tell that look in Cilan's eyes. That look he only gets when cooking is involved.]

Oh, I don't have to try. I know I could do better.

[WOW, CILAN...]

[...Whoa, Gold is actually genuinely shocked by that outburst of arrogance from Cilan.]

[Cilan doesn't seem to have noticed Gold's shock as he picks up another macaron, one that he seems to be judging the look of again briefly, before he glances at Gold.]

...Is something the matter, Gold?

[He just shrugs it off like nothing. This must be a side of Cilan he wasn't aware of...]

Ehh... It's nothin', don't worry about it!

Are you sure? [And now he's frowning, as if concerned for his friend--and yet, still genuinely confused as to what caused Gold's reaction in the first place.]

[ And nearby is your best friend staring at a plate with some of the food you've made Cilan. Which, normally wouldn't be a problem because normally in just seconds that food will be getting stuffed into his mouth.

But right now he looks like he's just staring at the food.

And he looks like he's thinking.

[...Well that's kind of peculiar, to see you just staring at the food and not eating it.]

Ash? Is everything alright?

Huh? [ Oh hey Cilan we... totally saw you there but we were too busy thinking to say anything?? ] Ah, yeah. 'm just thinkin' 'bout a few things is all!

Oh. [...It's still kind of odd to see you so deeply in thought, but okay. Maybe Ash is just thinking about which of the foods he wants to eat first or something. Either way, Cilan offers a smile.]

Well, if there's anything that I can help you with, you're always welcome to ask me, okay?

Uh, yeah. okay.

[ And since he's not even thinking about food he doesn't ask about what food to eat or anything else food. Instead he just kind of... looks unsure with Pikachu looking like he's trying to reassure him on something. ]

[???] ...Then, if you need anything, just let me know.

[You're clearly making him kind of concerned, but for now, he'll start to step away a little to check something on the table, just to be absolutely sure that the food's alright. (As if it wouldn't be, Cilan made most of it after all.) He'll give it a minute or two, but if Ash is still acting odd, then he'll definitely insist on having a talk with him.]

[ And he just... watches as Cilan steps away a little before staring at the food again while also giving Pikachu a look that only the electric mouse would understand.

But that's because he knows what's going on. So there might be some... whispering?? between Ash and Pikachu while Cilan is away. ]

[He goes a full two minutes of leaving Ash alone to sort his thoughts, before he tries to interject again.]

...Ash, are you sure that you're alright? You seem to be troubled about something.

[ And when Cilan comes back around Pikachu casually takes Ash's hat off his head and hops off his trainer's shoulder with it while Ash turns to Cilan. ]

Troubled? I dunno if I wanna put it that way. But uh... What do you call this?

[ And he points to a sandwich that Cilan has made before from his plate of food. ]

[Uh...normally, he'd be happy to tell you all about his food on command, but--]

Huh? I thought I already told you about them, haven't I? [Which, knowing Cilan, he probably did rattle Ash's ear off about the food he was making lately as a substitute for talking about anything that wasn't draft-related during one or two of those days of no sleep.] Or did I forget to mention that I had made these too in addition to all of the other food I had prepared today?

[ Wow Cilan why can't you tell him about the food anyways. Ash glances at Pikachu before he responds. ]

I think y' forgot to mention it 'cause I don't remember.

Really? [Hm...] Well, alright. These particular sandwiches here are ones that I made with a more tropical taste in mind, what with the use of fresh tomatoes and crisp lettuce...
