It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

[Mickey is upset for two reasons - 1, he had to leave Pluto behind and 2, he's had experience with time travel. It wasn't pleasant. It was absolutely not pleasant.

Which is why Mickey is not thrusting himself into crowds and being sociable, which is very unusual for those who know him. No, instead he's keeping an eye on things, in the forest and the town, looking for unusual signs and trouble brewing.]

[Mickey has every reason to play it safe. In fact, Riku's in a similar boat, which is why it's mildly worrying that his Komory Bat snuck in with him. Though, to be fair, at least it knows how to hold its own in a fight.

Still, 'tense' is one way to describe Riku as he moves along. He's constantly looking around, listening in on the surrounding conversations. He's gotta get a feel for this era-- it's like entering a new world, and he doesn't want to look too suspicious.

But when he spots Mickey, his focus shatters, and he hurries over to his friend.]

Heh. Looks like we had the same idea.

[Scouting, keeping a low profile... Makes him wonder how many others are keeping quiet].

[Mickey visibly relaxes when he sees Riku - the boy has a great calming effect. The smile on Mickey's face is instant.]

Y'know what they say... great minds think alike.

[stilldontgotit]

Yep. Plus, we're kinda in a tough spot with the whole time travel thing.

[He says 'time travel' at a very low volume, juuust in case.]

I just hope we can keep a low profile. I've been here so long that I'm probably in for a pretty big culture shock.

[He nods slowly, looking out to the crowds.]

I don't like any of this. If we don't make it... Are just supposed ta try again and again? Some things can't be changed... And the power to change it could drive a person nuts.

I gotta wonder if we'd even get a second chance. Just being here might change everything for us. Who's to say it'll be the same by the time we get back?

[He pauses for a moment, scratching his Dream Eater behind the ears. That's one way to cool the nerves.]

I gotta wonder why we're doing this in the first place. Something must've come up.

Seems ta me like they're tryin' ta fix a mistake... But some mistakes can't be fixed.

[He leans on a wall, arms crossed, bad memories flooding him.]

No, they can't.

[His eyes narrow for a brief moment, and he peers off to the side. Riku's all too familiar with making mistakes.]

I just wonder what kind of mistake it is. And why wait this long? Something just doesn't add up.

[takesyoubytheheart]

[... He jerks, a thought occurring to him.]

... When that bomb dropped...

You think--

[He stops abruptly, shaking his head.]

But I doubt that's all there is to it. We were having shift malfunctions even before the draft.

Riku, you've been here way longer I have... You know more about this place than I ever will.

... But I can't help thinkin' that... When we were saved, all those shifts before and after, they've been leadin' up ta somethin'.

[stilldontgotit]

No, you're right. Something's gotta be going on. Thing is, it's all so vague. All we really have to go off of are time shifts and that bomb...

[He shudders. Last thing he needs is to dwell on that.]

Well, there could be more to it. It's just a matter of connecting the dots. Putting the pieces together.

[takesyoubytheheart]

It's a little harder ta do that when yer not given all the dots. We're not bein' told everythin'.

[Which is painful - Mickey's done that enough times to people...]

[There's the sounds of crows cawing down one alleyway, as Mytho makes his way forward. There's some thing different in the way he moves, though. Something like confidence and purpose. That's also reflected in the smile on his lips, the fire in his eyes...]

[Mickey blinks, momentarily distracted. There's a... weird sense in the air. Like darkness, but not quite. He shudders, until he sees Mytho coming over. There's clearly something different about the boy, but Mickey is just so glad to see the kid all right that he ignores it for the moment.]

Mytho! So you made it here too.

[ravenousheart]

That's right. Why wouldn't I? [He says he saunters forward. A variety of ravens and crows perched nearby. Mytho lightly presses a hand to his head; it's certainly taxing to get used to these more limited powers.]

Excuse me... I can't seem to recall your name.

[takesyoubytheheart]

[Mickey tilts his head. Strange... was this like how Mytho forgot his emotions? Was the time-travel that taxing on him?]

... I'm Mickey... Mickey Mouse. Don't you remember? We're pals! ... I promised ta help you learn what emotions are.

[ravenousheart]

That's right. Yes. I remember it all, now...

[Or it's too taxing to reach back into his memory like this. So he leans against a wall as he watches Mickey keenly.]

Why don't you teach me, then, Mickey? Tell me more. I'd like to know.

[takesyoubytheheart]

[... Sooomething's not right here. He can't quite put his finger on it. Just a bad feeling. But... surely Mytho can't mean any harm. Mytho's his friend.]

Well, I'm not sure what lesson I can do here... Hmmm...

Oh! Let's see! Do you know what the emotion 'worried' is like?

[ravenousheart]

I might know. [He waves a hand casually.] I might not. Why don't you tell me?

[Ignore ignore ignore Mytho's fine he has to be fine]

Well, back where I'm from... I know someone who used time travel to do really bad things. It resulted in a lot of people gettin' hurt, and all for selfish ambitions...

[He shakes his head, trying not to get sidetracked.]

I'm sure the guy behind this time travel has real good intentions. But because of what I've seen, it makes me... 'worried'. I think of all the bad things that could happen. When you're worried, you think of people and places that might be in trouble.

[ravenousheart]

Is that so? [He hides his smile and plays up an innocent, confused look.}

I don't think that I understand. How could something like this 'time travel' be used badly? What sorts of... ambitions were they?

[takesyoubytheheart]

[Hoo boy. Have enough time to sit through several games worth of nonsense? Mickey crosses his arms, wondering what details to speak of and what to leave out.]

It's a long story, but... There was this man named Xheanort. He was fascinated by this awful thing in history called the Keyblade War. He wanted to resurrect the war, and bring a terrible weapon back to life. In order to do so, he needed to create thirteen darknesses...

When you time travel back in my 'world', you leave behind your body. So he tricked his underlings into becoming his vessels, so he could travel again and again, and push events that would trigger the war.

He didn't care who he had to hurt to make it happen, and he hurt a lot of people... including my friends. He was selfish, and only cared about what he wanted.

['Vessels' makes him think of 'vassals', and it all makes sense then. They're just knights. Knights are made to be used, and then discarded. Like that lowly Fakir....

He honestly can't find any faults in this plan. He'd like to try it for himself.]

I see. Doesn't that sound absolutely dreadful? [There's an odd lack of sincerity in his voice.]

Do you think... that there's any such weapon laying here, in Luceti's past?

I sure hope not.

[Though now that Mytho brings it up, it's not out of the realms of possibility.]

... But we'd better be on our guard. This whole plan makes me nervous. I'm not going to lose any of my friends for some crazy idea we don't have a full grasp of.
