It's early morning in the quiet enclosure that will someday become Luceti. The sun is rising, birds are chirping in that annoyingly cheery way that makes you want to shoot them out of the trees, and the residents are beginning to wake up. Most of them are heading to work, either to farm, or to build, or to work the shops, or even just to prepare a nice breakfast for their families and neighbours. Everyone has something to do.

And then, out of nowhere, a couple hundred strangers show up in the middle of the woods.

At first there is confusion, and no shortage of caution, from the neighbours; newcomers are common enough, but usually they are announced beforehand, and never in such great numbers. The leaders of the town are called in to ask questions. The newcomers are free to explore, but any aggression will be met in kind; if need be, the Filial of the past will defend their homes. They're hoping it won't come to that, however. You're stuck with one another for a long time, after all.

Thankfully, there is one man who might be able to bring the natives and newcomers together: Tyr.

...And the other guy, maybe. We'll see.

[A teenage monk hears that calling while exploring the forest and approaches the tree to investigate!]

Hello? Is someone up there?

Hello! ((There's some rustling, and then the figure of a lithe girl awkwardly coming down from the tree. She manages to make it onto her two feet, brushing herself off before smiling brightly at the boy.)) Hi! Have you seen any wandering pokémon around here, by any chance?

[Oh, how sweet. He smiles and waves back to her.]

Hi! I'm sorry. I haven't seen any Pokemon all day! What kind're you looking for?

[pokegirl]

My team of six! Though if I could find my Farfetch'd, I could probably find all the others... ((After a short moment of glancing at the sky to see if she can spot Ch'Ding, she abruptly switches topic.))

Hey! Do you know where we are? Or what's up with these wings, anyway?

[He rubs at his neck as he nervously tries to come up with all the answers.]

Um... We're in another world! This place is called... actually no, it's not called Luceti yet! And- and the wings! They're part of living in this world, everyone gets them. B-but Pokemon don't! And when Pokemon trainers get here... I- I don't think I've heard of anyone arriving with more than three of their Pokemons. Sorry...

[pokegirl]

... oh. ((Her lips twist as she considers the information. Then, surprisingly, she nods, the smile back on her face.)) Wow, that's really cool! So this is a whole different world? That makes sense, kind of - I've never seen anyone like you before. Your arrow-things are super awesome.

It's weird having wings and not being able to fly, isn't it? I tried a little, and it didn't go so well. It's okay, though - I'm sure I'll stumble into my pokémon soon enough!

Thanks! [He replies bashfully.]

It is a whole different world. And... it is really weird. The wings don't fly, but they keep us alive, so please do your best to take good care of them. [He smiles.] That's right, Pokemon don't stay lost for too long around here. So I'm sure you'll find them soon!

[To make this conversation easier, he makes a great airbending leap to land right onto an adjacent branch.]

My name's Aang by the way.

[pokegirl]

Whoa! ((That's-- he just flew up here! Her eyes are impossibly wide and shining now.)) You can totally fly! You just flew up here! Was that magic or what?!

-- Oh, and I'm Leaf. But seriously!

Oh, that wasn't the wings! [He waves a hand casually.] It's just airbending, that's all! I can't really fly-fly... but I can jump real good!

Your name's Leaf, huh? I guess that explains what you're doing in a tree! [He says with a cheeky smile.]

[pokegirl]

Airbending? What's that? I've never heard of it before. Is it a thing that happens in this world? Can everyone do it? ((She seems completely unaware of how many questions she's asking, still staring at him with a mixture of excitement and curiosity.))

I'd climb trees even if my name wasn't Leaf! I have-- had a friend whose name is Blue. Now that's weird.

Airbending is the ability to control air... like winds and stuff! I guess it's kinda like being a Flying-type human! But I don't think people from other worlds can.

I'm glad you'd still like trees, they're fun! Do you know more people whose names are colors?

[pokegirl]

That's so cool! So you're from a totally different world where that's normal? That's amazing. I love Flying-types. I mean, I love all types, because pokémon trainers should like all kinds of pokémon, but one of my best friends is a Flying-type pokémon, so he's special to me. ((She takes a little breath, then goes on.)) No, I only know Blue. But hey, if you know about pokémon... are there pokémon in your world, or have you met other trainers here?

Thanks. I only know about Pokemon from all the trainers here, plus my granddaughter had one for a long time. My world's just got... normal animals, I guess. But some do have special abilities!

[pokegirl]

Your... granddaughter? You have kids? But- you're a kid! ((Frowning.)) Or do all people look super young in your world?

No, no, I am young. Unless you count the time I was in an iceberg... but that's not the point! She's from my future. [It'll probably be helpful for her to get used to the idea of time travel...]

[pokegirl]

Huh... so... people are here from different times in different worlds! ((Leaf's pretty sharp, and she's a little too enamored by the awesomeness of it all to really worry about how possible all this stuff actually is.)) That's so cool. Can she do the air-bendy thing too?

You're right on both counts! She... she's actually not here in this world anymore. But her older sister's here now. They're all airbenders. [There's a bit of pain there as he thinks about Ikki's absence, but overall he has nothing but pride in them.]

[pokegirl]

How did she leave? I mean... I was just in a cave and I ended up here. I was kind of on a mission, so I... I kinda hoped I could just pop back, finish that up, and then explore this place.

But I sorta get the feeling that's not possible.

[savedtheworld]

It doesn't work that way. [He shakes his head sadly.] We don't get to pick when.

People leave by just... disappearing. It's as sudden as the way we appear here in the first place. But whenever you're sent back home, it'll be the exact same time you came from. You just won't remember this place at all.

[pokegirl]

... oh.

((But she only looks a little pensive for a moment before shrugging.)) Oh well. It doesn't make sense to worry about that now. I just got here - and Celio won't be left waiting for the Sapphire, so I can have as much fun here as I want! ((She grins at Aang, smile just as wide as before.)) How long have you been here?

[He smiles back at her at first! It is a refreshing outlook on things. But it falters a bit as he thinks of how long he's been here.]

It's been about two and a half years.

[pokegirl]

You must know everything about this place, then! What's the most fun thing to do here?

[He smiles a bit more at that.]

Wow, that's a tough one! There's lots of fun things but it's hard to say which one's the most fun! And we're also kind of in the past now so a lot of the more fun things aren't around yet...

[pokegirl]

We're in the past? ... you're from the future? That's so weird. Like, in a cool way. What is this place like anyway? I haven't left the forest yet - I'm not going to until I find my pokémon. They should be around here somewhere.

[savedtheworld]

That's- that's right! Normally we're in the future... which is the present! But right now we're in the past... that's the present right now! And there's a village, and one day it's gonna be a lot bigger! But right now it's small and- um- oh, we're supposed to keep the time things a secret! So you gotta pretend this is the present.

[He smiles meekly and rubs at his head.]

You know, why don't I just help you look for your Pokemon? An extra set of eyes always helps!
