Because I fail at paying attention...
Who: Seifer and Selphie, then Squall to the rescue.
What: Probably a beating.
When: Evening, some time after the bodyswitch event.
Where: Barrier.
Summary: Selphie finally runs across Seifer, we'll see what ensues.
Rating: Undoubtedly at least Mature for violence and Seifer's mouth.
Now that things were relatively back to normal, as normal as they ever got in Luceti anyway, Seifer was back to his routine. This mostly consisted of patrolling the village for a while, skulking about in the woods, and kicking the barrier uselessly in frustration. As much "fun" as it was to be around all those people he knew from his past, and had beaten the tar out of him, he wasn't particularly comfortable with it at all.
Though Seifer was glad they weren't sharing the same fate, he did miss his posse.
Of course being far too caught up in one's thoughts offered the perfect opportunities to be snuck up on by someone he wasn't expecting. An often yellow-clad someone, in this case.

"The fuck's wrong with you, Messenger Girl!?" He was half tempted to smack her down with Hyperion, but he hardly wanted Leonhart trying to kill him. So for now he was behaving himself. Slightly.
no subject
Actually it would be more disturbing if she was bouncing and woohoo-ing. Seifer didn't move to draw Hyperion yet, but he was definitely more alert and wary now that the nunchucks came out. Wasn't about to go down without a fight, not to this little shrimp.
no subject
"Lost count." Coldly.
no subject
"Military institution," He corrected, still in a cold, uncaring tone. "Orders are orders."
no subject
Oh Hyne, don't start crying. "They were being trained to destroy the Sorceress." Seifer was remarkably good at that cold tone right now, actually. Probably not making the situation any better, but he was full on the defensive now, and not one to explain himself to anyone. Much less someone who was pretty much a stranger.
no subject
Fortunately Selphie didn't try, and just did exactly what he expected her to, lash out. Unfortunately Selphie was pretty darn fast, and he hadn't been smart enough to draw Hyperion yet. So Strange Vision hit, and hit hard. But Seifer's tough, and that doesn't take him down right away.
He jumps back, snarls, and draws Hyperion. If it's a fight she wants it's a fight she's getting.
no subject
Seifer wasn't a slouch in the combat department, and between all the spars and random fights he'd been in recently, he was in pretty damn good shape. Still, many of her hits landed but he was able to deflect enough damage to keep himself from getting anything vital hit. Any opening he saw, he would dive in for an attack in return.
No chance in hell he'd just stand there and let her beat the shit out of him.
no subject
Selphie will someday find that little of what Seifer does will ever make sense.
Seifer only paused long enough to respond with: "I'm not answering any of your damn questions." Which frankly could mean anything, honestly. Mostly it meant that he was stubborn, and not going to talk. She might as well just keep beating him down, because that's what he was trying to do to her.
no subject
She wasn't going to get anything out of him, not what she wanted to know anyway. No matter how hard she beat him or how many times she screamed it, as far as he was concerned she'd get nothing more than blood. And that'd just have to do. "Fuck off, Messenger Girl." Still not getting her named used, either. It really was a battle of wills at this point.
However, Haste just made things ten times more annoying. Seifer didn't have any augmentation spells, mostly just some fires and a few Sleeps left. He didn't want to waste them throwing them at someone he could barely hit so instead went on the defensive, doing everything in his power to avoid being beaten down too much. Not that it was working well at this point. Kind of like trying to fight a swarm of bees, really.
no subject
"Damn, was tryin' for the whole school." Learn to shut up, Seifer.
He was taking more and more of a beating as Selphie kept hitting harder and faster, and yet still that wasn't enough to make him stop acting like an arrogant jerk. This was all starting to hurt quiet a bit, however.
no subject
Instead she'll just beat him bloody. Considering the ferocity with which she was pummeling him that didn't really leave any room for getting hits in himself. Nope, instead he just took a very thorough beating and by now wasn't even managing to keep his footing.
Now he was just fighting to stay conscious, honestly. Just like old times. This might not have been the wisest decision he's ever made.
no subject
Fortunately for him, they weren't the only ones out in the forest today. Squall's patrols took him out in that direction on a regular basis and Selphie wasn't exactly being quiet about it. So much for things calming down, and why did he always seem to be the one have to take care of what Seifer left behind?
"Selphie," he called as soon as he got close enough to be heard. "That's enough."
no subject
He grunted, and was just about to step away when the kick connected with his knee, sending him down on it painfully. Little bit more to add to the humiliation pile of the day. He was tempted to keep it going by tossing a fireball at her, but had a feeling he'd just get another Stop or something for his efforts.
"Get lost, Leonhart." Instead he decided to be more of an ass.
no subject
He didn't answer Seifer's comment right away, instead opting to give him a thoroughly unimpressed look as he weighed his options. He wasn't going to leave him to Selphie's mercy, and that meant leaving was definitely out of the picture.
"Make me."
no subject
Seifer scowled, considered a few moments and decided he would attempt to do just that. Unfortunately standing back up was proving to be a little more of a hassle than he was expecting. Selphie had already delivered a pretty nice beating. Still, it appeared Seifer was going to give making Squall leave a go.
As soon as he got over there, yep. "Don't need you buttin' in, Leonhart. Stay out of it. Messenger Girl's got a score to settle." Right, Selphie? Beat the tar out of the monster, that's what you're supposed to do!
no subject
"No, you can't," he commented to Selphie, totally ignoring Seifer's remarks. "Not until you can promise me you're thinking clearly."
And from what little he'd seen so far, he was pretty sure she wasn't.
no subject
Oh good, no more beatings. Now Seifer was at least given a moment to manage to stand without wobbling too much. It wasn't so much blood loss but simply beatings, since those nunchucks did a lot less breaking the skin and a lot more heavy bruising and crushing bone. Fortunately it didn't seem like anything too important was broken, except for pride. And no, Selphie would not be getting an apology and there was no way in hell Seifer was letting her forgive him, if he had anything to say about it.
That sudden mood shift got a bewildered raised eyebrow. "...The hell you on?" Clearly, she was more insane than he thought.
no subject
"Beating him up isn't going to bring Trabia back," he explained, even though he was pretty sure she already know that. It might be wonderfully cathartic, but that wasn't enough.
"Besides, he's always been an idiot."
no subject
"I don't." He murmured once he was fairly certain she was out of earshot. It was true, if anyone bothered to pay attention to his patrol schedule, Seifer didn't sleep much. He leveled a cold stare back at Squall.
"Don't need you shadowin' me everywhere, Leonhart."
no subject
"I'm not," Squall answered bluntly. He might have a slight tendency to run into Seifer, but as far as he was concerned most of what Seifer did was up to him. Or at least enough for him not honestly care. "I'm just here to keep an eye on who I'm supposed to."
Namely, the other SeeDs.
no subject
He watched Selphie tromp off, then snorted at Squall. "Best go chase her, then." Seifer's just going to go hobble off until he can pretend that he wasn't just soundly beaten by someone about a foot shorter than him. He swung Hyperion lightly onto his shoulder and did his best impression of impassive and uncaring. Easy act, at this point.
Nunchucks hurt.
no subject
He didn't bother actually replying to Seifer's comment, though, choosing instead to to give him a pointed look (this one meaning approximately 'I know that') before heading off in the general direction Selphie had vanished to. It would (hopefully) be easier to talk to her without Seifer hanging around.
As an afterthough, he sent a Cure Seifer's way before vanishing into the trees.
no subject
thanks, Squall.Seifer grunted, then turned to make his way back through the forest. He wasn't done inspecting the barrier, but he wasn't going to stick around to draw Selphie's attention again.
no subject
"Sorry about that."
Sorry about bringing up what he did, that was. He wasn't going apologize for what Seifer did.
no subject
"He's good at that," Squall answered with a shrug. It was the way things had always been, really. Probably the way it always would be, too.
no subject
"Maybe he doesn't want the reminder either?"
It probably wasn't the greatest of feelings to know you were responsible for an entire Garden's worth of deaths, after all. And that wasn't taking Ultimecia into account either.
no subject
"Don't bother. He probably won't listen anyway."
That or he would and would decide that what better time for a second round. For whatever odd twisted reason that jumped into his head.
no subject
"It might mean you'd be wasting your time."
But he wasn't going to stop Selphie either, if that was what she'd made up her mind to do.
