What: Town Meeting
When: SATURDAY afternoon/evening.
Where: The barracks, either inside or outside depending on how many show up.
Summary: A long awaited meeting. Lets try not to make it too complicated, mmmkay? :|b
Notes: Normal action to reduce everyone's stress! o/
Rating: Uhhh idk.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the nature of this situation, basically people are encouraged to make suggestions or openly mingle. I'll be posting what Raine wants to address, and then other people are encouraged to bring up other suggestions. Maybe flag them as a [Raises hand] or something to broach discussion on. If someone raises a point that you wanted to bring up, perhaps reply to it or supplement it somehow, to reduce the possibility of spam/people getting overlooked. Feel free to mingle before and after.

[Wherever the meeting is actually held, it would have been set up for a group of people to either sit or stand at their convenience at some point, depending on the volunteers available. Some people are welcome to act of ushers of a sort, making sure that things don't get out of hand. Regardless of the number, it'll probably be very crowded.]

[She nods back. Buffy looks a little pale but perhaps that's just the remnants of a hang-over.]

[Derek looks...intent. On the meeting. On his surroundings. On other people. He's in full-on info-gathering hunter mode, and aside from the occasional smile when people acknowledge him, he's all business and seems a lot more intent on things than his usual self that Buffy is familiar with. He might even seem slightly, ever so slightly, feral.]

[She understands the intensity of research-mode; however, about half-way through the meeting? Buffy heads towards him. If he's sitting, she grabs a chair nearby. Standing? Well, then she stands too.

No words yet. Just...acknowledgement of a colleague.]

[He's sitting, seemingly relaxed, although he gets more upright as the meeting goes on. However, when she approaches, he'll scoot over a little; both acknowledgment of her presence and an invitation for an equal to join him.]

Raine. [She nods towards the lady who called the meeting.] She's...good people.

[And Derek will nod too as his gaze flits over the woman in question, seeming to map her mentally]

Seems like, yeah. [He keeps his voice low so that it doesn't reach past Buffy's position next to him] You two are good friends?

[She matches his whisper.]

Goodish. Getting gooder.

[Derek nods at that.]

Good.

Albert--[she points him out, too]--he lives with her. He's also the brainy type. Strategies, that kinda thing.

[Derek looks at the man, having spoken with him once or twice over the journals. He also goes into Derek's mental filing cabinet, as that whole visual catalogue thing happens again.]

Know him at all?

He was one of the first I came clean to about the whole secret-identity job thing. I trust him.

All right.

[Yes, there's more to that than a seemingly off-topic response.]

Both Albert and Raine tend to organize big things around here. Like this? Raine's idea. Back, the last time we had the issue of the Third Party? Albert stepped in.

So they're the brains.

Which means if this gets big enough, they'll be the first ones someone decides to take out.

[She...hadn't thought of it that way. As it dawns on her, her jaw goes slack.]

[Derek gives her a somewhat apologetic look]

Sorry. But if we're going to get serious about this, we have to think in terms of defense as well as offense. And if we go out there, we may start looking good to the civilians, but you can bet your ass we'll also give the Third Party another reason to get a good solid look at us, too. And they'll want our leadership gone, right up front.

Then maybe it's best that no one has taken official leadery roles, you know?

...that doesn't always protect you, Buffy. But we can hope.

[She listens on to a few more points being made.]

Guess you showed up just in time for everything to start falling apart, in this village.

...or for a shift in perspective. Sounds like one's needed [Derek replies quietly, his eyes and ears still on what's going on]

Taking things as they come isn't going to work for this place any more. Not if we want to get out of this in one piece.

I'm worried everyone's more interested in sitting back and letting the grass grow so they can check out its colour before even bothering to get the lawnmower out.

[Derek is silent for a moment when she says that]

Probably. But if this lot is half as good as our caretakers seem to think they are, it should only take getting smacked once for them to knock it off and get a little sense knocked into them.

And if not, well then the rest of us will just have to decide how best to handle it.

Can't help but wonder if the scientists have this broadcasting in stereo back at their uberspooky evil lair, you know?

Honestly? It wouldn't surprise me if they did.

...Wouldn't surprise me if one of them was hanging out in Luceti with us, either.
