(no subject)

Who: Anyone who said they would attend / is interested
What: Town Meeting
When: SATURDAY afternoon/evening.
Where: The barracks, either inside or outside depending on how many show up.
Summary: A long awaited meeting. Lets try not to make it too complicated, mmmkay? :|b
Notes: Normal action to reduce everyone's stress! o/
Rating: Uhhh idk.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the nature of this situation, basically people are encouraged to make suggestions or openly mingle. I'll be posting what Raine wants to address, and then other people are encouraged to bring up other suggestions. Maybe flag them as a [Raises hand] or something to broach discussion on. If someone raises a point that you wanted to bring up, perhaps reply to it or supplement it somehow, to reduce the possibility of spam/people getting overlooked. Feel free to mingle before and after.

[Wherever the meeting is actually held, it would have been set up for a group of people to either sit or stand at their convenience at some point, depending on the volunteers available. Some people are welcome to act of ushers of a sort, making sure that things don't get out of hand. Regardless of the number, it'll probably be very crowded.]

Look, I'm not taking shots at you. But there are people here who are going to say they killed or defeated so-and-so from their world, that they've fought gods and demons and they don't need anyone's help.

I, for one, would be fine just training on my own and going out there to do my own thing, and if I get slaughtered then it's my own stupid fault. And I'm sure there's people who'd be fine asking you for help. But the people here are too diverse to expect anything more than mediocre cooperation, at least for now.

[Except...the way she sees it is that if anyone gets slaughtered, it's everyone else's stupid fault. Survivor's guilt, perhaps, after leading too many teenage girls to war.]

Then they'll have to learn that no matter how many big bads they've trampled all on their lonesome? A war's won by armies, not vigilantes.

I beg to differ. [Cloud folded his arms.]

Groups of people, teams or allies or maybe even a whole army? They turn tides and if you're lucky enough, the all have enough brains between them to tell their leaders when they're making bad decisions. Because those? They're inevitable. Alone? People make those bad decisions. Horrible ones. But alone, they've got no one to tell them how bad they are.

Like I said, people will band together with the other people they trust. If they don't trust anybody, they won't team up with anybody.

You can't really teach that to someone.

[She...begins to falter. Not because of Cloud's words--she's still a staunch believer in her own argument--but because of the feeling of eyes on her. Buffy had become used to taking a back-seat role in this village. Even her victory over the General had felt mostly incidental. As though they just happened to have accidentally met on the field that day.

She licks her lips and her voice lowers.]
It's going to be a massacre. They'll have fully trained forces and you can bet your last grimy dollar that they'll have learned how to co-operate. And a rag-tag bunch of us, acting alone? Against all that? [She's not stone-cold. Her jaw trembles.]

[identity profile] herobydefault.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Then after the first group comes back home, things'll change. [Cloud's not really against her; on one level, he agrees with her. All of them should invest in some toughening up if they wanted to be sure they'd make it through this.]

...if you want to do something and you need help, I'll give it to you. I don't have a lot of formal training to speak of, but I think I'm decent enough. I just don't think you should get your hopes up until we get more details on what's going to happen with this.

[Her voice remains lowered:] Aerith trusts you.

[As in, if Aerith does? Buffy suspects she may be able to, as well. She puts stock in the friends of her friends and wishes to make that known. But before she moves to sit back down, she can't help but (perhaps childishly) tag on with:] I'm not in the business of getting hopes up. Mine, or anyone else's. I'm a Slayer. The job description's all in the title.

[Cloud frowns, watching her sit back down, but doesn't move to say anything else.]
