When: SATURDAY afternoon/evening.
Where: The barracks, either inside or outside depending on how many show up.
Summary: A long awaited meeting. Lets try not to make it too complicated, mmmkay? :|b
Notes: Normal action to reduce everyone's stress! o/

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the nature of this situation, basically people are encouraged to make suggestions or openly mingle. I'll be posting what Raine wants to address, and then other people are encouraged to bring up other suggestions. Maybe flag them as a [Raises hand] or something to broach discussion on. If someone raises a point that you wanted to bring up, perhaps reply to it or supplement it somehow, to reduce the possibility of spam/people getting overlooked. Feel free to mingle before and after.

[Wherever the meeting is actually held, it would have been set up for a group of people to either sit or stand at their convenience at some point, depending on the volunteers available. Some people are welcome to act of ushers of a sort, making sure that things don't get out of hand. Regardless of the number, it'll probably be very crowded.]

[Grin.] Nothing bad, I hope.

[Yup, Nami's look might scream several things like 'slave to fashion' or 'upstanding citizen' (at least in winter when she's forced to wear so many layers), but 'pirate' isn't one of them.]

No, nothing bad. [Pirate. She's gonna be eyeing you surrepticiously for pirate-like clues which... she does not find.] She said you were really good at maps.

Oh yeah! I'm a navigator and a cartographer with my crew. Probably the best around. Well, at that, anyway. [Modesty, she has it. ...sort of.]

[Katara chews that over for a minute and then leans forward and whispers] So you guys are really pirates?

[Grin.] Yup. Not exactly your standard pirate, though.

[No, none of the pirates she'd 'met' had ever been anything like this girl.] What makes you different?

... I guess there's two kinds of pirates where we come from. One's your standard pillage, burn, conquer kind of pirate. If our crew were pirates like that, I wouldn't be with them.

But in the waters we sail, you could say 'pirate' is just another word for freedom. We're explorers and treasure hunters. You know. I don't think we've done anything that traditionally screams 'pirate' unless you count the hunting for treasure part.

Wow. You're right -- that doesn't sound like any of the pirates I've met in my world at all. [In fact, it sounds pretty darn amazing. Note the shiny eyes.]

Heh. You've got the pillage and burn kind, right?

Well, I wouldn't put it passed them. They seemed more like a collectors of valuables and bounty hunters than great adventurers...

W-well, there's nothing wrong with collecting valuables on the side.

[Sorry, Sokka has to intervene.] They were high risk traders and Katara here stole from them. I'd watch your stuff, Nami.

[O.M.G., you little snitch! Why'd you have to go and bring that up in front of the cool pirate girl, Sokka? You better watch out -- Katara knows where you sleep.]

Ha, ha, very funny, Sokka. [Turning to Nami, earnestly] It's not like I made a habit out of it or anything. They just -- wouldn't lower their price.

[Shamefaced. Yes. That sounds even worse outside of her head.] ...and I really needed it.

They were pirates, right? Stealing from pirates is always fine. After all, they stole it first.

What was it you needed?

High. Risk. Traders. Who I actually thought were pretty nice people until Katara ticked them off.

[She beams at Nami] That's what I said!

[And glares at Sokka] They were pirates! That guy had a gold tooth! And the captain had a reptile bird!

[She turns back to Nami] It was a waterbending scroll. They'd stolen it from the Northern Water Tribe, and they wouldn't sell it to me.

Definitely sound like pirates to me!

Waterbending? Is that like earthbending?

[Sokka just grumbles about how he never got to look at their collection of awesome Boomerangs.]

[Katara is ignoring your grumbling FOR NOW, Sokka. Don't be surprised if you're ambushed into a snowball fight on the way home.]

Well, yes and no -- they're different elements and different styles, but other than that, we're still both bending.

So you can do anything with water like Toph does with earth? [Colour her intrigued, ocean-lover she is.]

I don't know about anything... I can turn it from water to ice and back again, I can use it to heal... [Have a half-shrug which turns into a sharp grin.] And it comes in useful when you're facing a Fire Nation ship that's set on sinking you.

I bet it'd be kind of limitless out on the ocean. Healing, though? Water heals?

[Small grin] Well, there sure is a lot to pull from.

Some water heals better than others. Yogoda said that we can heal because life comes from water. Water was what ‘carried us, what birthed us, and what sustains us.’ [Her smile softens a little and she starts to feel a bit homesick...and remember all the times she's had to use it. The smile will fade right into a much older look than a kid like her should have.]

[Sokka is over there looking pretty distracted too. Way to remind him of Jet maybe probably dying.]
