Flower Viewing

Who: ...Lol man anyone ever. Everyone?
What: A very "special" Hanami as noted here
When: Most of Saturday afternoon going into Saturday evening
Where: Ammy's Hill
Summary: The haphazardly planned long-waited Hanami actually happens.
Rating: Bro

Today is the day of the Hanami - the flower viewing - as planned by the SOS-Brigade, and it couldn't be a better day! There might be a cold snap today, but sometime during the early afternoon (because Haruki willed it to be so and I got mod permission) the sun gets out more and the temperature shoots up into a nice spring day. This nice spring day will persist until the sun sets, at which point it will go back to being the cold day it was meant to be today.

So while the weather is nice, you might as well enjoy yourselves! As promised, the set up here is fantastic. On the top of the hill is one giant Sakura tree and four smaller ones along the side leading to the road serving as something akin to a natural (double) torii (you know those old Shinto gate things) leading up to the main tree. All five trees are in bloom, but while the four smaller ones have the pink flowers everyone is familiar with, the top one (the big one on the center of the hill) has darker pink, almost red ones for some reason.

One reason why it might be red is that (buried in the ground) at the base of the biggest tree is a (fake Made in China) human skeleton. It's buried pretty well and thus might not come out at all, but it's there. It is.

Anyway, aside from the flowers, there are other things too! There are three big mats with a large collection of chips, sake, and water in various bowls with cups and such for people. And then towards the center (manned by Haruki and one or three other Brigade members [feel free to assume you character is one of them if you want; it'll probably be in shifts]) is a big collection of burners, pots, pans, and everything you would need to produce dumplings on the spot. And they are making dumplings (usually pork of course) for people there.

As for decorations aside from the flowers themselves... there are various painted things and paintings which some people might recognize as Miyabi's work. There are also more than likely paper lanterns up which'll help once the shadows grow deeper in the early evening. I'm being vague in case Miyabi's player wants to post something specific.

Oh and off on the opposite side of the hill from the four flank-trees (for the kids) is a series of three somewhat normal sized trampolines (for the kids) to make up for the lack of Haruki's promised jump land or giant trampoline.

So that's the setting: ENJOY.

[Naturally, this is action script/commentspam/whatever you kids are calling it these days and naturally like any big meeting post thing is set for full threadjack mode]

I'm not quite sure, but from what I've heard it's a Japanese holiday that celebrates the coming of Spring. I'm guessing they bask in the blooming flowers to signify that. I'm also told they wear stuff like this to pay homage to their heritage or something.
markofthewise: (Well isn't that great)

Huh. I've never heard of a Japanese. [The trees were pretty enough, though. It actually makes him thing of when spring first came in the Earth Kingdom. For someone who grew up in the South Pole, that had been an amazing sight seeing Spring flowers first bloom and watching the forests become green from high atop Appa's back.] I guess His Overlordliness didn't do too bad.

He's got his ups and downs. Want to get something to eat?
markofthewise: (Satisfaction)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
There's free food? Of course! [Who knew randomly wandering into a gathering would end up so well.]
markofthewise: (I'm controlling you with my mind!)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll follow on along, looking at all the pots. Yum. That sure is some food.]

At least it smells good.

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Want to go over there first?
markofthewise: (Me likey)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, let's. [He'll lead the way this time. It's food after all. He's already managed to find a plate to start piling stuff on.]

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
So were did you run off to for all that time?
markofthewise: (Really?)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[He stops filling his mouth for a bit.] Huh? When?

[identity profile] wings-thatwait.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You told me and Edward to watch the smithy while you were gone. Where did you go?
markofthewise: (Gimme a break)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. [He thought he had explained that.] I didn't go anywhere. I was giving my sister the day off.
markofthewise: (Yeah whatever)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Back to eating now.]
markofthewise: (Mapping it out)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[It is impressive. But he's seen bigger trees. Way bigger.]

Maybe we should go find a seat.

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. How about one of those mats over there?
markofthewise: (Gimme a break)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dammit Winry, Sokka wanted to sit on those mats over there. But he'll follow and sit down next to her.]

So I guess this isn't something they do back where you live, huh?

[identity profile] wings-thatwait.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. We celebrate the coming of spring with a Sheep Festival.
markofthewise: (Really?)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he'll have some of those chips.] Yeah. We never actually did anything for spring back home. Not surprising, really. When you live in that far south, you really don't notice the difference that much.

[identity profile] wings-thatwait.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
At least now you get to experience the changing of seasons? I especially enjoy spring. It's like the rebirth of the world.
markofthewise: (That is so incredibly lame)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Wow. That's something corny enough that my sister would say.

[identity profile] crytearsofjoy.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Shut up! There's nothing wrong with liking to see everything come back to life!

It's... hopeful.
markofthewise: (This isn't flinching)

[personal profile] markofthewise 2010-03-28 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ow! What is with your girls and hitting me!?
