Where: The riverside, south of the village
Summary: After several birthdays had passed, a birthday PARTY is arranged for those who missed theirs. At the river!

[With the help of Toph and Roku (and possibly others), the party had been set up south of the village. There were cakes, party tables, and seats out for everyone. It wasn't really a traditional Water Tribe party by any means, because it was meant for more than one person, after all. But it was by the river and swimming opportunities there. Sokka even set up a net and poles for volleyball. Nami and Roku knew to be there, but of course, Sokka has to get here there still...]

[.... dammit. Urge to slap forehead rising... Why couldn't he think of a better excuse. It wasn't too late to change tactics, was it?]

I assumed you knew! You can grab something later. Roku and Toph are waiting for us. There's this... bending thing you guys gotta do.

[Yeah, she's actually upset.] I can't believe no one told me! If I'd known, I would have made her something..

Do I really need to go right now?

Actually, I'm pretty sure I told Roku to tell you. So it's probably his fault. [SCAPEGOAT!]

[Roku! How could he have forgotten?]

Ugh!

All right, let's go.

[She'll just... explain. And get Nami something later. Man. Birthdays were about making someone feel appreciated and Nami had been through so much... maybe there was something she could do, even last minute.

She falls into step besides Sokka, trying to come up with something.]

[Sokka on the other hand looks far too pleased about something as he struts alongside her. Even though he's made Katara feel horrible. But that was not his intention, so that's okay. Probably. ]

[Katara drags Sokka aside.]

...why did you tell all these people it was my birthday? It's not my birthday until January!

[Sokka has a grin on his face and pulls out a piece of paper with a timeline of events from their world and in Luceti, all nicely laid out.]

Well Katara. It was about July back home when you were brought here. But when you arrived here, it was February. If you take into account your own personal timeline of events, right now is January. It's not for me, sure. But if we had waited for Luceti's January, you would have been fifteen and a half. So by doing it today, we're actually celebrating on your real birthday!

...you finally lost it, huh.

Hey! If you look at this chart, it all makes sense!

Let me see that. [She takes the chart. And stares at it.]

Help yourself. [He'll just wait until you work it out.]

...this is really weird.

I had mine in February. [He shrugs.] Today you're technically fifteen, either way. Do you want to be fourteen for another six months?

[She passes the chart back - where does he keep these things? - and one hand goes to touch her necklace.]

I guess it doesn't really matter. [Grin.] Might as well catch up to you again.

[He stuffs the chart back into Sokka-space.]

You can try. But I added it up and I have a year and six months on you now.

Hmm... maybe I should have gotten you a cane for your birthday.

Speaking of presents, though! [He has one for you.]

[She is strangely unsuspecting - maybe because she has yet to really accept that it is her birthday.] Yeah?

Just one second. [He quickly runs over to one of the tables, slips something behind his back, and walks back over.]

Your birthday present. It's uh, not finished. There's one part left I haven't got for you... [He hands her a present. It's about the shape and size of a book. But it's not a book!] So you'll have to wait to be able to use it.

[She looks at him with surprise before taking the present and tearing into it.

He'd really put a lot of thought into this, huh. Figuring out her birthday, getting this party together... even finding her a present!]

[Inside she'll find a wooden folding picture frame with room for two pictures. There are, of course, no actual pictures in it. But aside from the glass, Sokka had made it himself. Maybe not the best craftsmanship, but it wasn't hideous at least! And he painted it blue too.]

Happy birthday.

[Katara is confused by this present, but she just smiles at him.]

Thanks, Sokka. This whole thing is really great.

[And - you guessed it - a quick hug, incoming.]

[He returns the hug with an awkward pat on the back before pulling back.]

Eh, it wasn't that big of a deal. I mean, it's not like I put a birthday party underneath the ground, right?
