Birthday Parties!

What: Birthday parties!
When: July 4th (a smidge backdated)
Where: The riverside, south of the village
Summary: After several birthdays had passed, a birthday PARTY is arranged for those who missed theirs. At the river!
Rating: PG?

[With the help of Toph and Roku (and possibly others), the party had been set up south of the village. There were cakes, party tables, and seats out for everyone. It wasn't really a traditional Water Tribe party by any means, because it was meant for more than one person, after all. But it was by the river and swimming opportunities there. Sokka even set up a net and poles for volleyball. Nami and Roku knew to be there, but of course, Sokka has to get here there still...]

It's Kouki-- or "light wine". Water from the River of Light that I drew when it was here, in Luceti.

[For a moment, delight infuses her face - and then her brows draw together in concern.] Isn't that - dangerous? You said we shouldn't look at it.

[She's not as much concerned with him giving it to her as she is with the fact that he drew it out in the first place.]

Mm. That's right--the River itself is unsafe for human eyes. But this [he taps the bottle]

Is the Water of Life, extracted from it. It's the ultimate cure for mushi-caused illness, in my world. [he raises an eyebrow] It can even be manipulated to give eternal life. [he's ....seen it done. At least once. ]

[That explanation passes over her for a moment as she focuses on the most important thing.]

Does that mean I can see it?

[he smiles] Yes.

It looks much like regular water. [made of light. And tastes like drinking life itself, and that taste will never leave you for as long as you live.]

[Katara instantly pops the cork on that bottle and peers into it. The water is - glowing. Her face is awash with delight as something about the sight rings through her like a bell.]

It's beautiful.

[It should be bigger. All encompassing. Right.

...She can see why it would cause men to go blind. So for now she simply looks up at Ginko, the joy of beauty on her face.]

[Ahhh, that makes the smile widen. He doesn't say anything, either. Just watches her, pleased with her pleasure at the sight.]

Wait a minute - did you say this was water? Like - what I can bend?

[The enormity of this begins to crest, as she can reach out into the bottle and - feel it there. Humming almost, almost alive.]]

I thought that the Light River - didn't you say it was mushi?

That's right.

The mushi-- in their embryonic form-- swim in the River. They're a part of it, as it is the origin of all life.... but the River itself, [a gesture] is water.

[A soft exhale and - ha, take that 'the origin of all life is fire' indeed - and she can't help but want to bend it a little out of the bottle but as soon as she reaches for it, she knows - this water wants to be used. Best not to touch it until she was going to actually use it.]

It's like - water from the spirit oasis. [She puts the cork back in the bottle.] Thank you so much.

Well, it would have been pointless to hoard it when I've no way to use it, now. [grin] I thought you'd find it interesting. [being one of the few people here who can appreciate living water. 8| Without wanting to cook with it. Or make people immortal with it.

I do! I'll have to find some way to keep it on me... [She thinks of the vial of spirit water she was given, until her attention snaps back to Ginko.]

I can do that. [It's said softly and as much as she'd almost like to press, she's learned the difference between healing something that's bad, but livable and a true emergency.

She steps forward to give him a brief hug of gratitude.] Thanks, Ginko.
