Who: Frontliners, Infiltrators, Kidnappees (See here for info)
What: The attack on the base!
When: October 11th (all day)
Where: Renegade Malnosso Facility
Rating: Varies on thread!
It had been over twenty-four hours since the infiltration. The Malnosso were notorious for their long work hours, many pulling twenty hour shifts at any given time. Fortunately, each department had its share of private resting areas with beds to allow the overworked staff - or infiltrators - get some much needed shut eye between tasks. But now there allies were arriving. All the information they had gathered and sabotaged planned was about to go into play. Would they be successful?
As for the kidnapped, John's pill was finally starting to cancel out the effects of the drugs. Already brighter and more alert than before, it would soon be time for their escape and either flee or help their comrades storm the building.
The front line attackers had met with their strategist before the battle and were now positioned in the forested area around the facility, out of sight and mind for the Malnosso inside. All they needed was the sign to attack from their person inside.
----
OOC Notes: Note that when the front liners attack, security checkpoints and Shifting should be disabled. For those curious about Floor 3, there is still no access to it. HOWEVER, there is no longer a Shift protecting it. If any character is reckless or foolish enough to access it, do so while considering the possibility of your character being seriously injured (or even killed!) in what ensues.
To recap: read Albert's OOC marching orders. Security guards are armed with short swords, night sticks, and hand guns. Most have normal human abilities, but higher ranked guards in high security areas will be highly skilled and may possess some amount of superhuman strength and speed. The Malnosso droids/drones all possess superhuman strength and speed. Since everyone is at full power, they are at 'half strength' relative to what people are used to. Brute strength and strong electrical attacks will be effective on them. It's also possible the infiltrators will keep most of them from ever activating to respond to the attack. They are not invincible and with enough effort, people should be able to handle them.
Note: Thanks to the infiltrators, most of the drones have been disabled and won't activate during the alarm. A small number will be present, but no more than twenty at the most.
Finally, going back to Floor 3, there will be a separate thread within the log for that. If someone attempts to enter it after the battle, I'll setup the scenario there for people to interact with.

[There's a slight emphasis on 'run away,' as in 'yes, you'd better.']

Well. It wasn't like it was an inconvenience to him or anything. In fact, that could be very useful. So he doesn't even question it, instead just putting the smoke bomb in the pocket of his jacket with a smirk on his face.]
Thanks. I'll make good use of it.

What about you? Ready to head out?

Yes. I am.

Try to take it easy before then. We won't have this much freedom once we get there.

[She takes a half-step back and folds her hands in front of her in the traditional manner, and gives him a little bow.] So please know that I respect your skills, and value your friendship. I won't keep you from your responsibilities any longer.
[And I wish you could have said the same of me. And then she turns and starts to walk away.]

Don't be so presumptuous. You don't know what I'm thinking. I am not starting an argument. I am not expecting you to fall. If you have such little confidence in yourself that you believe everyone sees you like that, then fine, but I don't. I know you better than that. I know that you'll be fine. Please understand that I asked you because every situation is different - we may have done this before, but the circumstances are not the same. I asked because if there is something wrong, and I can do something to fix it, that's what I'm going to do. I don't ask because it makes me feel important, and I don't ask because I want your appreciation. I ask because I want to help. That's all.
[And you know what? Not even going to touch this brother comment. He had far more to worry about than his own brother just being kidnapped or getting hurt now.]

There were people here who knew her, who didn't know Caesar, who hadn't fought alongside him before. That means she felt, rightly or wrongly, that they would take their cues of how to treat him from how she treated him. That meant, as much as she wanted to, she couldn't tell him off. Because she meant what she said - she respected his skills. If he said something, she wanted them to listen.
And that also meant she couldn't just walk away. As much as she felt that was her second best option, to be seen acting as if she was ignoring him could have been just as damaging.
...and that was just fine with her. Because he'd just said a few things that she would have regretted letting stand just as much as she would have regretted going into battle without at least trying to salvage their friendship.]

I didn't tell you I appreciated your skills because I thought that was what you wanted to hear. I told you that so that we could end this conversation and enter battle with something like a mutual understanding and respect, so that if anything happened there would be no regrets.
[And you threw it back in my face.] You hurt me, Caesar. You might not have meant to, but you did. And you're wrong when you say I don't have confidence in myself. I know who I am, and I know what I can do. And if you want to help, I would really appreciate it if we could agree that despite what we said or what we think we said here, what we mean is that we respect each other and want each other to come out of this safely.

You want to be treated differently, but you're acting like a child. Don't you think that might be why the others act the way they do? If you want their respect, and if you want them to see you as being the capable person that you truly are, acting like this won't get you anywhere.

I don't say things I don't mean. I don't know what you heard - but it doesn't sound like what I said. I'm glad that they're giving me a chance to earn their respect. I've done it before, against men who thought women shouldn't fight, and even though this isn't anything like that, I'm sure I'll do it again. When I told you I didn't expect you to be like them, it was because I didn't understand why you were being so cutting about my experience when I thought I'd earned your respect already. I guess I was wrong.
[She closes her eyes for a moment and then opens them. This isn't why she's out here. This isn't what she wanted.]
But that isn't the point. That isn't why we're out here. I don't want to argue with you in front of all the people who are supposed to be seeing me listen to you, but you're not giving me much of a choice. I've tried to offer you my respect and walk away, but you wouldn't even take that. I don't know what else to do.

[But there's no rush. Really. Because in the meantime, she is so blinded by her own emotions that it's actually almost embarrassing for him.]
no subject
No rush? No kidding.]
