Who: Frontliners, Infiltrators, Kidnappees (See here for info)
What: The attack on the base!
When: October 11th (all day)
Where: Renegade Malnosso Facility
Rating: Varies on thread!
It had been over twenty-four hours since the infiltration. The Malnosso were notorious for their long work hours, many pulling twenty hour shifts at any given time. Fortunately, each department had its share of private resting areas with beds to allow the overworked staff - or infiltrators - get some much needed shut eye between tasks. But now there allies were arriving. All the information they had gathered and sabotaged planned was about to go into play. Would they be successful?
As for the kidnapped, John's pill was finally starting to cancel out the effects of the drugs. Already brighter and more alert than before, it would soon be time for their escape and either flee or help their comrades storm the building.
The front line attackers had met with their strategist before the battle and were now positioned in the forested area around the facility, out of sight and mind for the Malnosso inside. All they needed was the sign to attack from their person inside.
----
OOC Notes: Note that when the front liners attack, security checkpoints and Shifting should be disabled. For those curious about Floor 3, there is still no access to it. HOWEVER, there is no longer a Shift protecting it. If any character is reckless or foolish enough to access it, do so while considering the possibility of your character being seriously injured (or even killed!) in what ensues.
To recap: read Albert's OOC marching orders. Security guards are armed with short swords, night sticks, and hand guns. Most have normal human abilities, but higher ranked guards in high security areas will be highly skilled and may possess some amount of superhuman strength and speed. The Malnosso droids/drones all possess superhuman strength and speed. Since everyone is at full power, they are at 'half strength' relative to what people are used to. Brute strength and strong electrical attacks will be effective on them. It's also possible the infiltrators will keep most of them from ever activating to respond to the attack. They are not invincible and with enough effort, people should be able to handle them.
Note: Thanks to the infiltrators, most of the drones have been disabled and won't activate during the alarm. A small number will be present, but no more than twenty at the most.
Finally, going back to Floor 3, there will be a separate thread within the log for that. If someone attempts to enter it after the battle, I'll setup the scenario there for people to interact with.

The elevator stops on the sixth floor, but the doors don't open. ... For half a minute, anyway. One of the researchers mutters something about inferior technology still being primary in the building, while another mentions just how expensive it would be to Shift from one place to the other. Only one of them heads off of the elevator at the sixth floor with Albert and Raine, however, while a couple of others move past them to step inside. Time to swipe in and keep moving.]
[action]
They pass by a pair of drones on the way to the main Shift machinery room, as well as several security guards. He holds his satchel a bit more carefully, looking down at his companion.] How are you feeling?
[action]
... Stressed. [Which is probably refreshingly honest of her, even if it's putting it lightly.] I'll feel better later. You?
[action]
[At the next checkpoint, he swipes his card and passes through ahead of Raine.]
[action]
[action]
As they approach the area with the Shifting machinery, the same strange sounds they had heard on the upper floor become audible.]
[action]
[action]
The more employees he sees, the more he is convinced everyone in the facility is either complaining or barely repressing the urge to complain. He returns to waiting and keeping watch of the hallway.]
[action]
One. Two. She moves toward the last machine. ... There's an employee already there, and he gives her a somewhat questioning look.]
You should get some breakfast. I'll take over here for now. [He doesn't seem too impressed by that, but after some more persuasion - Raine continuing to bluff her way through, hoping that those other machines wouldn't start signaling anything before she got started - the Researcher hands her a few sheets of coded-paper and instructs her to keep the program running. He watches her critically for a moment before walking down the hallway.
Not much time now... she quickly starts to input the code once she manages to locate the keypad.]
[action]
He notices a researcher walking out of the room where Raine was supposed to be working on disabling the Shift machinery, taken by the grimly serious expression on his face.]
Is something wrong? [He calls out, slipping a pen out of his bag and writing on some of his "notes." The researcher twitches at the question, looking over at him before gesturing down the hall with a strangely discreet turn of the head.
"There's someone accessing all the machines in the back -- and she's definitely not running calibration tests. I'm going to call for security."
He glances down the corridor even as his mind races. Was Raine almost finished? Their escape may have just been compromised. He needs to buy time.]
Is that necessary? Shouldn't you confirm with others?
["Do you know of any tests other than calibration being conducted at this hour?" Albert remains silent, but shakes his head; the man was already too suspicious, and he didn't have the knowledge necessary to refute him. "That's what I thought. I'm going to call security."
He quickly pointed off to a corridor away from the direction of the elevators.] I saw a few patrolling down that way.
[The man nods and heads down the way Albert pointed out, leaving the strategist in the momentarily empty hallway. He places a hand to one ear and whispers quickly.]
Someone is suspicious of you. He's calling security.
[action]
We need to get out of here, now. [Her eyes dart down the hallways, looking back at the path to the elevator.] I'll try to hide if necessary -- don't compromise yourself. Lets go.
[action]
One door down. But with both security guards and drones on the floor, they were far from safe at the moment. He can only keep moving forward, retracing their steps.]
[action]
When Albert and Raine get close enough, the researcher approaches them, reminding them that they're having a 'mandatory meeting of all Shift personnel in twenty minutes, in area 06-111-03'.
Then they can swipe through. Another door passed. So far so good. Nothing questioned yet. Perhaps that other Researcher had a difficult time finding security after all.
... There are drones in the next area. The way to the elevators seem to be blocked.] ... Time to detour.
[action]
His hand clenches into a fist around his bag. In this new hallway, a janitor looks up from sweeping, confused by the guard's shout. Albert keeps walking. They needed to get more distance between them and the guard -- not to mention the drones that could be alerted any second now.
On the wall, he sees a sign that indicates that there is a stairwell ahead.]
[action]
She seems to be a younger woman, a little taller than Raine but similar to her in build. "Shift personnel on this floor have a mandatory meeting. Where are you going?"]
[action]
[The security guard doesn't seem to think this is an odd question, though she doesn't quite look apologetic. "Something about the equipment upstairs being shut down? That was what I was told."]
Absurd. Someone can't simply shut down-- [He gives the guard a condescending look, turning back towards the corridor that would lead to the elevators.] Fine. We'll be on our way to the area, then.
[action]
Once they're left alone once more, Raine speaks to Albert quickly, in a hushed voice.] You should go - I'll take cover until our next move. If that man is there ...
[action]
Area 06-111-03, was it? That was on the opposite side of the building. He gives Raine a longer look, then turns heel and walks towards the elevator lobby.]
[action]
[She turns away as he does back to the stairs. The way was clear, and there was no need to waste any more time.
Two floors down. At least there were extra rooms down there - rooms that wouldn't seem suspicious to duck into. Staying out in the open wasn't an option. Her pulse can't help but race once she's alone, though. She forces herself to take her time on the steps and calm down.
There was the fifth floor. The doorway was open - yellow jackets seemed to be milling about, apparently discussing mysterious 'incidents' that had started to take place earlier the next day. She continues downward. In her haste, she managed to miss the fourth floor exit completely - but that was no matter. The third floor was still curiously sealed off, much like any reference to it had been on the elevator. Something about the area seemed different, somehow, but -- it was better to stick with the plan.
Back up the stairs to the fourth floor - the exit door is closed, but she listens for any sounds outside of it first. The hall seems to be momentarily clear. Cautiously, she steps out of the staircase, though stays alert for any conversation that might float her way.]
[action]
No, I just found out from another guard. You would think we would know have been provided a hint before security found out.
[Soon enough, the two of them are on the same route as other Shift researchers, and Albert finds himself able to breathe a bit more freely.
...Until he recalls that he would still be on the floor when the other Shifting machinery shut down.]
[action]
A pair of Scientists start to pass by her, deep in conversation about malfunctioning in their labs and the frustrating lack of Researchers downstairs, when they notice her presence.
"We were hoping there would be an extra one of you around. The machines are out of control down there. Hurry up and fix it instead of dawdling around here."]
... Malfunctioning? When did that happen?
[One of the scientists rolls his eyes, while the other informs her. "Fifteen minutes ago. Hurry up."]
[action]
Had anyone seen her? Had she been seen with--
A frazzled security guard suddenly enters the lab, looking at the many frowning researchers in the room. She doesn't even bother apologizing: "This floor's been hit too; two of the machines are already down."
There is outrage and bewilderment amongst the researchers. Many of them push out of the lab, hurrying over to the sabotaged machinery. Albert follows after, not wanting to be trapped in the lab with such a smaller number. He can attempt to break away from there.]
[action]
The elevator area seemed very busy. Apparently there had been a ... stall? The Scientist grumbles about having to wait, but eventually the doors are opened and the group take the elevator down. There's some hushed talk as floor three is passed, but mostly the chattering is on the unfolding mess at their hands. Some security exits at the B2 level. B3. B4. Raine can't get off the elevator until it hands on the last level. It was still just too crowded.
... There's a lot of activity. Almost too much, as cards are hastily swiped in to get through the checkpoint and the guards eye them all. Room numbers are shouted across the halls where issues are being reported present, and frazzled Researchers who never made it upstairs are running back and forth. Another group of scientists start mentioning the animals getting loose.
... She couldn't afford to get stuck down here. But already she's finding herself rushed along with a crowd to one of the malfunctioning areas. Maybe if she tries to look busy, she can find a way out of the chaos. For now, this looked like it was going to be a headache. A frustrated Researcher pushes her toward one of the machines and barks some orders at her. None of which she understands.
... Hopefully he wouldn't watch too closely.]
[action]
Before long, he is trailing behind the other researchers, and he slips down another hallway before he reaches their destination. He can hear their irritated voices fading as they walk further away, followed by the swiping of several keycards as they head into another section of the floor.
Similarly, he swipes his card for the door he wants to enter, finding empty labs to either side of the hallway. He sidesteps a sign cautioning that the floor is wet, swiping his card again to enter a new corridor.
He freezes as he finds himself face to face with a drone walking down the same hallway he was in. Pressing up against the wall, he stays silent in hopes that it will pass by him -- which is does without hesitation. It was still running patrol, or perhaps heading to the Shifting machinery. Albert continues on, glancing into the elevator lobby before pressing the call button. Only a yellow coat occupies the elevator when it reaches the floor, and Albert enters before fluidly pressing the button for the first floor.
It isn't time to rest quite yet.]
[action]
Every so often, she will find a chance to check the communicators, just in case there's something to learn--but mostly, she'll be preoccupied with this task.]
