What: An intervention
When: Oct. 21, after school
Where: Keiichi's apartment
Summary: Keiichi's become a hikkomori after Rena's departure, and two of his friends decide it's time to check on him. Unfortunately those friends aren't the best friends with each other.
Rating: Haruki
[It's been over a week and a half since Keiichi last appeared in class. Now another school week has ended, and with no sign of him or Rena, Minato decides it's time to pay them a visit. He heads for their apartment once school lets out for the day.
The hallway is silent. The door is tightly closed, and there's no sign of a droid break-in. This is a small relief, but it doesn't rule out other possibilities. After testing the handle to find it locked, Minato raises his hand to knock.]

Oiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, Keiichi!
[And then, not noticing Minato at all, Haruki leans back, raising a leg, and with one decisive kick that narrowly misses Minato's gut aims to kick the door open]

Haruki is loud and Minato reflexively dodges to the side. The force with which he smashes into the door makes this an extremely fortunate move.
There's a crunch as the lock breaks.]

There's no trace of Keiichi or Rena at first thought. If Minato and Haruki decide to enter and investigate they will notice the doors of the bedrooms open and only one of them has anything on it. Exploring a bit deeper will eventually bring them to someone, Keiichi to be exact, sitting in a corner against the wall with a blanket over him covering him.]

...And then he notices Minato out of the corner of his eye]

It's polite to knock first.

[...Wait] What are you doing here, anyway?

[Okay, stomping on in even more concerned now] Keiichi!

Haruki-kun.... [there's a room open with things still inside.]

There's someone in the corner, with a blanket pulled over them.] Keiichi?
no subject
The blanket shifts lightly but no other signs of reaction are shown. Who is calling for him anyway? There shouldn't be another voice other than his in this place.]

Hey.
[- and kneels down next to him, tugging at the edge of the blanket. There's no need to hide.]
no subject
He feels someone tugging the blanket. There's someone there then, but what does it matter? Who is it? He doesn't care yet he wants to know.
Slowly, the blanket moves again, slipping a bit to reveal one of Keiichi's eyes as he peeks at Minato and Haruki. That's right, they are here too, they are his friends... They were her friends too. Keiichi doesn't talk or move any further, only one eye and a bit of the top of his head is visible, but it's obvious that he hasn't been taking care of himself physically either. And that eye looks blank and dead, exhausted.]

Keiichi, you can't stay in here. People are getting worried.
no subject
People are getting worried? What people? Why should he leave? No matter where he goes, he will still be here... And she won't be here. Again. She's gone, slipped through his fingers like water... Back to a world where she won't even notice him missing, as there will be a he there. But not this him...
Why should he care? What use does it have?
But if he can't even answer the voices calling for him here... Then he would really be a failure, right? His eye flicks, moving to look at Haruki for a second. That's right, Haruki knew, didn't he? That was why he got mad, why he didn't want to see Rena. Haruki knew she wouldn't stay but Keiichi didn't listen... Maybe he should have listened after all. If he hadn't seen Rena again, nothing would have changed, right?
He closes his eyes for a second and at the next moment he's standing up casually.]
Ah... That's right, staying here will only make me collect dust anyway and I'm not the type to really be able to sit for a long time.
[A small laugh comes at that as he pats himself, how long has he been there? Certainly for a long time.]
You guys didn't have to come all the way here for me thought. Well, since you're here, you want something to drink?
[His feet move begin to move. It's almost as if nothing had been wrong just a second ago...
Almost...
No matter what smile he's showing, there's no way anyone can miss the sight of the multiple plastic stickers in his neck, hands and wrists, even up in his arms. There's no way one can miss the sight of the dried blood in his clothes and skin. Or the baseball bat that he's still holding with one hand, as if it was part of his body.]
no subject
You got anything in here which isn't spoiled?
no subject
no subject
Of course I have things that aren't spoiled. It's not as if I haven't done groceries in years, just a few days or weeks...
[Though it could be years since the last time he walked outside the apartment. But that doesn't matter, he doesn't care. He doesn't want to know.]
