Summary: Hey, that's a rather interesting-looking button at the bottom of that statue. I wonder what happens if I press it?
Rating: No higher than PG-13, I hope.


[Anyone passing through the center of town this evening will have a very hard time missing that large golden Santa statue that has suddenly appeared in the fountain. But... wait, isn't that Bil instead of Santa? Somehow, that isn't exactly a surprise.

But perhaps the most interesting feature of the statue is the large button at its base. Will you press it?]

[It's evening on Christmas Eve by the time Link finally manages to spot the statue. (Not that it was hard to miss, but, well. He's been spending time in the forest lately.)]

[The statue, and, of course, its button. Link stares at it for a moment, then...]

[Well, there's not too much of a hard decision to make. He presses it, and out pops a smallish box in cheery forest print wrapping paper. Saving the long green ribbon for Foot, he opens it up, and...]

[For the next little while, Link can be found sitting near the statue's base, carefully playing a cheerful tune on a little brown ocarina. It's far too small for him, designed for a child's hands, but from the joyful expression on his face, he doesn't seem to mind.]

[After returning from her trip to the ocean, Stella was greeted by a giant golden statue. She was immediately wary of it, and thus passed it by. But upon hearing the sounds of that little tune, Stella finds herself moving towards it, and once she sees who's playing...

Hey, isn't that the guy she's supposed to give her Secret Santa gift to? She already has one in mind, but it can't hurt to learn more about who she's giving a gift to from the person itself. So, she'll just stroll on up, head bouncing lightly to the beat of the tune.]

[Link glances up, not pausing his playing until the song comes to an end of one repetition. Once he does set the ocarina down, though, there's a grin on his face - he's definitely happy about this turn of events.]

Thanks. My best friend at home taught me this song... and this is the ocarina she gave to me. [He shows it to Stella to demonstrate his point - it's definitely child-sized.] It's kinda hard to play now, my hands are too big for it.


((OOC: Eheheh... oops XD I was actually setting this on Christmas Eve, so that'd be AFTER the gift exchange... I thought it'd be on Christmas Day. Let's say this is the morning of Christmas Eve, then?))

[Stella smiles as she examines the ocarina for herself. It definitely looked too small for him, yet he was still able to play it well, and she could tell that the sentiment deeply touched him. It was... nice, to receive things like that.]

I wouldn't have known you had trouble playing it. [She hovers her hand over the ocarina - for being made for a child, it looks very nice.] It's rather well-made, too.

Saria's really good at making stuff. Especially instruments - she really liked music. Hold on... [Digging into the pouch at his waist, he pulls out the Ocarina of Time, this one sized for an adult and a light blue with a silver band around the mouthpiece.] This is the one I normally play.

[Setting the fairy ocarina on his lap, he plays a quick rendition of the same song on the bigger ocarina, then puts it away again.] They both sound really nice, though.

[Here comes Foot padding up to Link with her ears and tail up. She'll make a little kitten chirp before jumping up into his lap and curling into a happy ball of fuzz.]

[Hi, kitty. Link pauses his playing for a moment to drop a hand down, giving her a few scritchies behind the ears, then it's back to it.]

[After all the drama of the last month or two, this is definitely a pleasant diversion.]

From that statue! [He gestures with an elbow.] If you put that button, you get a present - see, like that. [Beneath the statue, someone's just recieved a gift.]

[Foot will turn to look at the statue, and then stare at it for several moments before padding over. When she sees who's face is on it, she'll twitch her ears and lay them back just a little before she approaches.

There's another few moments while she sniffs the statue's base, carefully and thoroughly, before making her way to the button. Sitting up on her hind legs, she starts to paw at it until she manages to hit it just right to activate it.

And then skitter-jumps out of the way as two packages come tumbling out.

Slowly, low to the ground and with her ears laid back a little, she approaches the packages, sniffing carefully with her tail swinging in uncertainty.]

[Hmm. Link gets to his feet, snow crunching beneath his boots as he makes his way over to Foot and the statue.]

Oh, huh, you got two? [he frowns a little thoughtfully, then glances at Foot's paws.] ...Do you want some help opening them?


((OOC: I'll most likely be putting a post up in a little while, dated for Christmas morning - Link's heading over to 49 with presents and CAKE. Will Foot be going with him?))

[Foot will nudge at the paper and even try and chew on it to no avail. Finally, she'll look up at Link with that look. You know the one? The one that's as close to 'please' as a cat can manage.]

[For the first one, he starts to peel off the paper, pausing in mild surprise when he notices something green beneath it.] A plant?

[Foot will poke her head forward, trying to get it into the hole Link has made.

After a moment, she tries to push in further, purring loudly.

What's catnip? [He pulls a little more paper off, gazing down at Foot curiously. Some feline delicacy, perhaps?]

[And he has an audience too. Capell is standing not too far off from the statue and nodding along to the tune. He'd been a bit wary of approaching the ostentatious statue, but now he's glad that he did.]

[The song comes to an end, and Link lowers the ocarina - he had spotted Capell a few bars earlier, and now raises a hand to wave.] Hi! Did you like the song?

I did. You play well. [It certainly put him in a cheery mood.] Does it have a name?

Uh huh! It's called Saria's Song - well, she taught it to me, I guess she wrote it, too. She also gave me this. [And he hold sup the little ocarina.]
