For those of you who don't want to have to post up actual entries in your characters' journals (though you are of course still free to do that), this is the place to be all week if you just want to toss out random shenanigans! [The fact that he knows it's the doctor doesn't make it any less weird to ask this of a little girl.]

How long is it acceptable to wait before courting someone?

[ he doesn’t need to be a genius to figure out who he is thinking of courting. ] I don't think you should be taking romance tips from me, kid. The last woman I courted back home got everything in the divorce settlement.

[ he purses his lips and takes in mind his relationship with Emony. ] If you've hit it off, why bother to wait? Something could always come round the corner and bite you in the ass.

What if I jump in too quick make a mess of things?

And what if you wait and then make a mess of things, anyway?

[He doesn't answer. There's a thoughtful moment.] Have you met her yet?

It depends. Is it the girl who was asking about ninjas and pirates?

Good luck there. [ he pauses and adds for extra effect. ] El-oh-el.

[He's not even gonna. So he opens the door to the clothes shop.]

I'll let the little lady go in first.

[ you're going to have to learn this moon speak if you want to woo her, Archie. ]

That's a good start for courting.

[Oh jeez.]

Hey, get that hat for me.

[ he points to the top shelf. ]

[Fine. He'll be bullied, but just this once. He plucks the hat from the top shelf, and tosses it down to the Childlike Doctor.]

[ McCoy manages to catch it and places it on his head. ]

You'll have to get used to this, you know.

Get used to what? [He grabs a dry coat and hands it to him.]

[ he takes the coat and grins mischievously. ] Clothes shopping. If Dawn is anything like her older sister, you'll end up as baggage boy. That's mostly what we're here for.

[Archie doesn't say anything. He just looks vaguely uncomfortable.]

Cheer up. This is the best thing about it.

[ it really isn't though, but he feels satisfied he's got him back for dropping him in the snow. ]

Right. [That's not it at all. He has a lot of things on his mind, and the Dawn issue is just stressing him out right now.]

I like her a lot, Doctor. It's just that I still want to go home, even though I know I can't.

Hrmm... believe it or not, it's a problem for most people in this place; a lot of missing people and broken hearts.

[Things are getting too serious. It's his fault, too, and he hates that. So he grabs a sweater and drops it so it drapes completely over the little girl's head.]

[ there's a lot of flailing from McCoy as he manages to pull the sweater off and scowls at the other man. ] Knock it off.

[Kennedy merely looks satisfied with himself. He hands him a pair of socks in a more acceptable manner.]
