Springtime Harvest

Who: [livejournal.com profile] mikangirl, [livejournal.com profile] threeswordsoul, their immediate families by demand, their extended families, friends, and orchard workers by invite. (That's... a lot of people >_>a)
What: Mikan harvest!
When: All day, 24th April
Where: Nami and Zoro's fictional mikan orchard on the outskirts of town.
Summary: It's that time of year again in which the household sneakily gathers free fruit-pickers--uh, I mean, makes a celebration of the annual Spring harvest. Food, festivities, and fruit collection? Bring a basket.
Rating: Rated C. For cavities.

[The entire orchard is decorated for the event with streamers and flowers along the fences; pinwheels, too, though they're always there. There's a looot of fruit to be picked, and Nami will supply baskets for everyone-- and anyone who comes bearing a basket of their own can take it away filled with fruit at the end of the day. In the meantime, enjoy the scenery and the food and drink and each other's company. The harvest ends at sunset.]

[ooc: Cross-thread and threadjack to your heart's content. You can be out amongst the trees, in where the food is being served (there'll be a few tables to sit at on the back porch area), lurking in the house for whatever reason or anything else you can think of to do at a huge family gathering like this :|a The food is delicious, supplied by Sanji - and beware the roving Hughes with his camera. |D

I will also be slow as hell to begin with because my internet is dead, but pfft there are a lot of other people at this thing. SCRATCH THAT I LIED. What the hell, computer. B| ...anyway, go nuts.]

...You've been talking to your mom, huh?

[but of course she gets a hug. In fact she gets lifted off the ground in a hug, and then held up to pick a mikan from the nearest tree if she so chooses]

Of course I do, silly! She tells me about all kinds of things...!

[She'll definitely go for that mikan, auntie.]

... Why's fruit grow on trees?

[even though Nami probably wont like it, she sets Elicia down and picks a different mikan, peeling it and crouching down to show her what's inside when she pulls the fruit apart]

See that? Those seeds in there are what you plant to grow new trees. So these trees make fruit to hold the seeds.
asobouyo: (holy flip)

[she eyebrows those seeds]

Aaaaaa!! How'd those get in there, auntie? Did the mikan grow them?
corrinesbell: (graceful assassin)

Yep. Trees and flowers all grow seeds so there will be new trees and flowers.
asobouyo: (whoa rly?)

Ooooh...! That's why when you put them in the ground, they grow if you water them lots!

If I put this in the ground, it'll grow into a pretty tree, right??

You've gotta take them out of the fruit first. Trees take a while to grow, but eventually it'd be one just like these.

You can plant some flower seeds in my garden this year if you want, and you promise to come take care of them.
