What: Wedding
When: Monday afternoon
Where: That spot with the lilacs by the river in that meadow west of the village. You know that spot---we know you know that spot.
Summary: Jack and Raine get married, and everyone ships it hard forever.
Rating: G I expect? It's so hard to tell sometimes.

On the morning of his wedding, Jack sat bolt upright in bed and then vomited onto the floor. Several minutes after that were spent dry-heaving and gasping for breath, and then another several minutes crawling to the bathroom to put his head under the shower. Cold water---it brought back reality and rationality, and erased dreams of being a pirate and dying in some war and having a best mate and a lover who had always been forbidden him---ever since Jack Horner's lesson and the two weeks following it.

Sparrow figured it was a case of wedding nerves. Strange dreams were a new thing for him, after all--normally he slept dreamlessly and woke up alert.

Later, as he stood in the quiet meadow he and Raine had chosen for their ceremony among the fragrant lilac trees, that morning dream was forgotten. Sparrow was calm. Happy. Clean-shaven and dressed in the attire Buffy had picked out for him and eagerly waiting for his beautiful bride.

"We've had many years for the matter to settle." She had been young and foolish, but she wouldn't trade her children for anything else in the world. "We're both old enough to know what we're getting into."

Even if she didn't feel it, when she was around him. Her gaze follows Sheena's to the dress. "There's still time yet. I wouldn't want to risk it getting spoiled early."

"So you think it's gonna get spoiled later, huh?" A friendly nudge to Raine's shoulder will let her know she's (mostly) joking around.

"You should go and shower, though, if you didn't already. The time'll go faster than you think."

"No, not -- spoiled." Raine knows that Sheena's teasing, but she just shakes her head. "It's just that I've never had a dress so nice before, and we'll be outside for a long while."

As the second part, she nods. "I was planning to, in a bit."

"You know, I came over here early 'cause I thought you might be going a little crazy." Another grin - Raine might remember what Sheena was like on the morning of her wedding. "I guess I should've expected better. You're not really the crazy type."

"Not where anyone can see, anyway." Raine does return the smile at that. "I've been reflecting, mostly. Changes are inevitable, but sometimes you get used to things being a certain way for a while. That's when the time comes to put a new perspective to it."

"You mean like moving into his house instead?"

She sits on the bed, fiddling with the wrapping on the dress.

"Instead of what?" She tilts her head. "He's spoken so often of his house, out there. It's a little far, from everything, but Noishe and I can make the trip."

"Instead of living here. Or, y'know, in Albert's house." The look on her face says she's just teasing.

"You're gonna love it. I think it'd be nice to have the privacy."

"I was looking forward to the prospective gardening attempts. Especially come summer." But integrating her items and her sons into the house would come first. A good project for the week, after the honeymood period was over.

"Are you kicking everyone out for a week so you can just enjoy each other first?"

"... Honestly, Sheena." She just has to raise an eyebrow at that. She's marrying Jack Sparrow.

"What? It's just a question."

"We've talked about some plans. I don't think the boys will be officially moving until later in the week, once we've had some time."

Sheena flops backwards onto Raine's bed, so that she's basically staring at the ceiling upside-down.

"It sounds like a plan to me. ...You guys're cute together."

Unsurprisingly, Sheena's once again flipped the conversation, though Raine can't say she's ever heard her union with Jack described in that way, especially with their history. "... Cute?"

"Yeah. Romantic still, and when you talk about him you can kinda tell you stop thinking with your head a little bit."

"I don't see what's cute about that. It's been a long time, and he's been... wonderful, about everything."

"Exactly." She sits back up again, crossing her legs and resting her elbows on her knees. "And it's cute that you're not bickering or driving each other crazy, even despite everything you've had to put up with."

"He wants things to be right for all of us. There's no need for arguments in face of that." There were times of stubbornness, but he was always very persuasive. Always found a way to make her not think. And it wasn't bad, really--wanting to just believe in him. Him and this future. Perhaps it was that belief that made her so blind to some of his activities. Much like her mother, in those ways. Trusting, even with lingering fears of what had already happened to this family. But Jack was different.

Raine didn't wear that expression often. Not many people could bring out her ability to be just a little spontaneous or without worry. It was nice to see, now, that even that part of her had a certain calm and assurance about it. That she probably believed, because it's Jack, everything will be fine no matter what. ...And it could indeed be true.

"You should see your face right now. That's what I mean by 'cute.' You're totally in love with him."

"I would hope so, given we're going to be married." Even if it was still hard to believe that it was going to be in just a few hours, now.

"Hey, sometimes it doesn't happen that way." Of course, she would never insinuate such a thing about Raine and Jack.

"I'm aware of that." She had seen marriages fall apart before. And maybe once upon a time she might have thought there was too much history between herself and Jack for that to work.

But he put it all to rest quickly enough. If there was anything she did well, it was burying everything within her so there were no troubles on the surface.

Yes, she is very good at covering the problem in layers of other things.

But Raine is not losing her happy mind here, and Sheena has a while before she needs to get ready, so there isn't a whole lot to do or talk about. Of course, she's more than willing to help with hair and stuff once Raine's that far into her preparations.

Raine glances at the dress, and back toward Sheena. "You're welcome to make yourself comfortable. I think it's about time I took that shower."
