When: Monday afternoon
Where: That spot with the lilacs by the river in that meadow west of the village. You know that spot---we know you know that spot.
Summary: Jack and Raine get married, and everyone ships it hard forever.
Rating: G I expect? It's so hard to tell sometimes.



On the morning of his wedding, Jack sat bolt upright in bed and then vomited onto the floor. Several minutes after that were spent dry-heaving and gasping for breath, and then another several minutes crawling to the bathroom to put his head under the shower. Cold water---it brought back reality and rationality, and erased dreams of being a pirate and dying in some war and having a best mate and a lover who had always been forbidden him---ever since Jack Horner's lesson and the two weeks following it.

Sparrow figured it was a case of wedding nerves. Strange dreams were a new thing for him, after all--normally he slept dreamlessly and woke up alert.

Later, as he stood in the quiet meadow he and Raine had chosen for their ceremony among the fragrant lilac trees, that morning dream was forgotten. Sparrow was calm. Happy. Clean-shaven and dressed in the attire Buffy had picked out for him and eagerly waiting for his beautiful bride.

"And if yours sees you in this state? You wouldn't be able to resist her if you tried, lad."

Vash sways a bit as a slightly devilish grin crosses his face.

"And I wouldn't want to." He may have mistaken what Jack had meant by that statement.

He actually probably didn't; Sparrow often packed as many entendres as possible into the things he said.

"Ha! Of course you wouldn't, you lucky man!"

"I know, I have no idea how I managed to find someone so nice! And her butt is pretty cute too."

Huh, did he just say that out loud? No. He's pretty sure he only thought that.

"But can she cook well, is the question? Because good food is highly important, is it not?" Food had always been one of the most direct ways to Jack's heart, after all.

Jack's not the only one in Luceti that can be won over with good food. "Only the best cook in all of Luceti! Well, except maybe Sanji. You and Mrs. Sparrow should come over sometime and try her meatloaf!"

"Perhaps we shall! We'll probably keep to ourselves, like, for a little while, her and me. Make up for lost time and all."

That devilish grin slips easily back onto his face. "Oh, I understand. I completely understand."

"Right. I'd best find her, now, lad. Continue to enjoy the drink, eh? But not too much."

[goldenglasses]

"AHAHAHA! I will!" With one last grin Vash yells loudly enough to be heard over the crowd.

"MANY LONG YEARS TO THE HAPPY COUPLE! AHAHAHAH!"

And that loud cry confirmed what everyone had already suspected in their heart of hearts: that Vash the Stampede was the greatest wedding guest ever.
