Fever Time, Baby!
Who:
luceti (especially those of you who were in the draft).
What: Impromptu house party at House 28!
When: Backdated to 10th June
Where: House 28 (Graces House).
Summary: Pascal is throwing a house party to try and cheer everyone up, especially those of you who returned from the draft and have since filled her journal inbox with sadness and woe. It's B.Y.O.B. and everyone is invited, so bring tasty things to eat and drink! There will beverages both alcoholic and non. There is also a big banana cream cake. It's a casual party for fun and mingling, so no real activities have been planned in advance. Aside from drinking games.
Rating: PG-13, for Party Goodtimes x 13!

The taller girl shakes her head.]
Not by much. [She sips quite a bit from her sweet drink. She had yet to learn -how- to drink, but it wasn't like it would do much to her, anyway.] But two of my unit? No one wants to play with them.
[Luckily, Spartans are smart enough never to bet on equipment.]
This could be your baptism by fire.
no subject
Baptism by... That's a dramatic way of putting it, but I guess you're right. I've played it just once before, but I'm pretty sure my opponent was cheating.

[You can guess how poker matches are between Spartans, Marica.
She takes a big sip from her cup. The desire to keep drinking is lesser in Daisy, but still present.]
And of course it's dramatic, Marica. We're betting sweets.
[It is serious business.]

It'd be nice to think that your friends wouldn't cheat against you, but I guess people just don't like the idea of leaving their chances to luck.
no subject
[It was. And it was funny? Holy shit, Daisy's world will end soon. She drinks a big amount from her punch, almost emptying the cup, before she continues.]
Moreso if your friends can leave their chances to luck. Last time a friend of mine played poker with us, first hand he gets is a royal flush, and we all quit then and there.
[Daisy is only bordering on tipsy, but even Spartans are not above telling tall tales about their leader. It's possibly an exaggeration.
Possibly.]
I won't cheat there, though. I promise.
no subject
I'll hold you to it. I've never met this Charlotte, though... Is she the type to, er, stick to the straight and narrow?
no subject
[A pause.]
I think she as a great poker face, though. Just be careful.
[She refills her cup with the punch, and drinks again. No matter how much she is drinking, though, it doesn't look like it's having much effect.
Daisy's alcohol is trying to solve that, and the taller girl unsconsciously obeys. Alas, she's only on one drink and a few sips so far.
God knows how much vodka did somebody spike the punch with, though.]
no subject
Well, it's all right. Poker face or not, there's no substitute for plain old luck! ... Cheating aside, of course. That's what makes gambling fun, I think.
no subject
Daisy notes Marica drinks a little more than usual, but apart from a curious glance, she doesn't give it much thought.
The taller girl remembers an old saying.]
"The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant, or favor to the learned. Time and chance happens to all."
[She drinks as she thinks about the saying.]
I agree. If only I was luckier at poker. Or better. Guess we'll find out.
no subject
Well, no pressure. If I end up winning a bunch, I'll probably end up sharing my loot with everyone anyway.
no subject
Thanks.
[She taps Marica's cup with her own.]
no subject
I guess it'd defeat the purpose of gambling in the first place, but I wouldn't wanna horde it all to myself... Oh, speaking of which, I wonder what I should make?
no subject
[Suggested too quickly.]
We're already going for cookies and brownies.
no subject
Y'know, I've never really tried making any of those before. First time for everything, though... And since coming here, new experiences have kinda been the norm.
no subject
[She gulps from the punch. Poor Daisy is still far from that state, as fast as she's drinking.
If only there was a way to make her keep up.Try your hand at banana, or chocolate chip ones. Bet there's books about it at the library.
[Beat.]
Have you used ovens before?
[A sip. Way too many ovens that had been set on fire come to mind.]
no subject
Got a couple of cookbooks from the library a while back. I'll check 'n' see when I get home.
I should be okay with the oven, though. I worked over at Azzip durin' that experiment, if you've heard of the place.
no subject
Azzip? Think I might have skipped it from the guide... [She empties a drink. The fact Daisy is fond of sweet tastes is part of the reasons she's enjoying this so far.] Sound like you've got it covered, though. I'd love to see what you make.
[...Hm. Daisy notices a few cut words, but pays little heed. Perhaps Marica is "relaxed"?]
no subject
Azzip's a "pizza" place, though it was a family restaurant for the experiment. They didn't really let me work the kitchen much, though...
no subject
[Beat.]
Too many ovens on fire.

[It's almost disturbing to think how much theoretical knowledge could Daisy possess if she ever reached a state of inebriation.
The taller girl looks at her cup. Hm. She had been hitting it hard... but she still didn't feel much different.]
It's sweet. And the... Vodka, it actually improves the taste; but I think I'm drinking slowly... It's sweet [And somewhat addictive.], but I don't feel very different.
[Four and a half.]
