What: Dragon Slaying

Where: The Mountains, up in Jack's Cave
Summary: Saber (and co?) goes to confront Jack about his greed and gold, hoping to pull him out of his curse.
Rating: PG-13 to R for language and violence

[Lately Jack had been having dark dreams and with no one to share them with. He had grown more distant, spending more time in his cave, and it took longer and longer for him to roll about in his gold to push away those feeling. The images he had seen were vague... but from what he could see was a king who had won many wars, a demon from the gates of hell to claim the soul he had bargained away, a warrior shrouded in shadows, and a soldier with a monstrous form that seemed almost familiar to him. His dreams had all come to one conclusion.

They were coming for him. He had no idea why, but he could only conclude they would be the end of him.

... well let them come. See how they deal with Jack Horner.]

((ooc: Gonna have two threads here. One for a meetup before running into Jack, if you guys want, then another one for them to actually arrive and confront him. Let me know if there's anything that is fishy or needs clarified.))

[The electricity hits him hard. He's large enough and tough enough for it not to be fatal, but it messes with his movement, causing him to tense up, and it's a lot like getting tasered. Yet his stubborn anger to protect his gold somehow is pushing through and he tries to push through it to snap at her anyway. He's not quite fast enough, but he's far from giving up.]

[Karai isn't getting anywhere near Jack now that heavy duty magic is being used-- she's a lot less effective than it and a lot more vulnerable to it. But when he lashes forward to snap at Lightning, she flips the knife out of her vest in one easy movement, sending it hurtling for his eye. It's so small in comparison that all it will really do is sting, but hopefully enough for him to recoil and not take a bite out of anyone present.]

[Saber can only really stare dumbstruck at what she sees before her eyes. She made little movement, other than what was necessary for her to dodge his attacks, and her mind was almost away from the battle oddly. After everything that has gone on and now, with these new arrivals appearing to fight, how much longer would this drag out? ...Was he really being this persistent? Over something that did not even matter? It has to be whatever sort of curse that plagues him whispering evil to his ears. Yet to see him still moving after that lightning strike and further descending into madness.

If death was not something permanent, would it be right to rid him of this deplorable state?
Even if it wasn't, would she still do it to save him?

She's pulled out of her thoughts as she sees Karai moving in again and throwing the knife at Jack's eye. Both of them are giving it their all now, aren't they. ...So maybe she should too. And as she thinks this she moves back and raises her sword, allowing the invisible barrier to break and bringing a large gust of wind with it.]

Both of you, get back!

[Because she wasn't going to let anyone else get hurt in this.]

[ Lightning is already starting to move back before the call comes, charging again and cursing the weakening of her powers-- why did it have to be so hard and take so long here? If only she knew some spells of protection! Her gunblade is instantly switched to its swordlike form, intending to use it as a barrier between her and that great head, but...

In any case, she's used to working in a team of six- when someone tells you to get back, you get back. Therefore, even if she doesn't have the attention to spare for glancing at the owner of the voice, she does her best to comply. ]

[The knife hits his eye, but the relative size is enough to keep it from doing permanent harm. Still, it throws him off balance and keeps him from realizing what Karai is doing. He raises his great head to try and shake the knife away from his eye, leaving his great neck and chest completely exposed.]

[Karai's with Lightning: when someone tells you to get back...

Go nuts, Saber. Looks like everyone else is giving you a clear line of attack.]

[Good. Now that they're out of the way she can perform her move. ...A part of her wants to think that it won't be enough to stop him, but really that's not very logical thinking. Her most powerful trump card. Even in his condition, Jack will not likely survive.

As the wind vanishes, a blinding golden light surrounds the sword as she continues to charge more energy into it. This attack is probably going to leave her in bad shape too, but she can't let things go on the way they are. She'll be risking not only her life, but Karai's and the stranger's. If Jack is an enemy, even if it be a temporary one, it is her duty to strike him down.]

[As she shouts out the name of the Sword of Promised Victory, she swings it down in a single fluid motion. In that instance, the beam of light that was building around the blade is released by the swing and charges straight toward the dragon and engulfs the area in a bright gold hue. Not that it should be any problem for Karai or Lightning, who moved away from the path of the blast.

Jack, who was the direct target of the blast, on the other hand...]

[ Lightning throws up her free hand to shield her eyes a bit as Saber turns on the light show herself, pushing aside the intention to use any more magic of her own at the moment. However, she's not as blinded as she could be, considering that l'Cie obviously have to be pretty used to flashy things or risk being detrimental to themselves. Seeing spots is sort of a thing of the past.

Of course, it's not like she really understands what's going on here anyway, although with Jack rearing up his head and Saber moving in with such a powerful-looking strike-- ]
