What: a battle dome date
When: july 9th
Where: the battle dome
Summary: one part training exercise, two parts tourism
Rating: r -- for violence. and then who knows what. better to be safe than sorry idek?
Buffy Summers asked Jack Sparrow to meet her at the battle dome. It was a plan that had been discussed before the pirate had disappeared and now that he was back? Well -- she cared very little for dawdling. They had dawdled before but now was the time for seizing. She had yet to overcome the horror of waking up alone for yet another morning when she had expected to be the furthest thing from it.
People change. And Buffy mused quietly upon the changes to be found in Jack as she waited just outside the dome's entrance. She had a bag-o-weapons at her feet and a plastic bottle filled with some sort of over-sugared juice in her hand.

Buffy jumped ship on the sentence before its conclusion; she chose instead to catch his mouth again and haul him down with her onto the bed.

Buffy leaned forward and felt the hum of enjoyment from the back of her throat at least a half of a second before she then heard it.

"I've found many things that were important to me, Buffy. Discovered what they truly were. Everything's clearer to me, now."

"Soul searching,..." she offered as a quiet suggestion.

"It's still good."

"I meant more in the vein of still serviceable and soulful and working despite the, y'know, patching." This was, in fact, a mercifully scaled down version of the explanation. Her first inclination had been to shoot somewhere close to I meant like that Froot Loop you drop on the kitchen floor but you still eat it anyway because it's still good. But even Buffy Summers managed the forethought to realize that this explanation would have been...ill-advised.

"Aye. Serviceable: I rather like that. Serviceable. That's what it is, I suppose---and mine, free and clear now. No more Davy Jones chasing after it. No more Blackbeard to jerk me about, eh? It's mine and all my own."

But thoughts of it flew off when the B-name was mentioned and she crept a hand close to where she knew the mark was. "Feels good, doesn't it?" Not that Buffy quite knew what it felt like to have a soul bound up in anything other than her own steely will but...but she'd witnessed enough soul-recovering to gain at least a rudimentary appreciation for the importance. And there had been that one time she had thought she had no soul at all, after returning. But that had been a false alarm. And her relief had been intense.
Free and clear and his and his own? Practically on that level, she thought.

Often it felt like he couldn't have one without the other. But he still shied away from her touching that mark; Jack gently removed Buffy's palm from his chest and kissed it.

So rarely were her stories FUNNY. Though then Jack suspected it wouldn't be a ha-ha kind of funny. He ran his fingers lightly up her side and back down to her hip again, waiting.

"...Raven was half-convinced that 'Pearl' was a woman's name. Not that--" Not that Buffy for even the splittest of seconds thought that the two years hadn't come with their own new women with all kinds of names. "And being a boat was just a cover story."

"The...the very THOUGHT, darling."

Buffy leaned forward once again, planting her palms on either side of Jack's shoulders.

The Black Pearl: still his first love, of course. Not his ONLY love, not anymore. She's only a ship, mate, he had said to Gibbs just before the crew prepared to abandon her.
Jack had never intended to abandon her that day. Elizabeth's machinations were superfluous. He would have stayed with her as the kraken took her down. That is what he told himself, and it might have been a lie, but it might equally have been the truth.

But she didn't really care, did she? Not about made up words and not about whether there had been others. So long as they weren't here; here, he was hers.
