Summary: What's a summer without going on a trip to the beach at least once?
Rating: PG13+? Depends, really.

[When one enters the beach, if they're the type of people to make beelines for food as soon as they step into a party, they'll notice that there are a few tables set up with a bunch of snacks laid about, along with a giant cooler residing at the end of the table. There's a barbecue going on too, though it'll be self-serve if you're hungry.]

[Otherwise, there's a bunch of sporting equipment laying about. A Frisbee, a few volleyball nets... Whatever you'd like to be there! Don't forget, there's always swimming in the ocean, too.]

[Your concerns are well founded, Mia. His next stunt results in a wipe out. He and the board go flying in the air and then into the water. Whoops.]

[She can't help but stand up and watch for him to come up out of the water.]

[bamfing]

[What she doesn't know is that after hitting the water, he and his board teleported back to the beach, but not close enough to be heard. Seeing that she's worried, Kurt is going to ninja stalk behind her while she waits for him to surface.]

[frost_jewel]

[You are so mean, Kurt. She's so focused on watching the waves that she doesn't even hear him coming.]

[bamfing]

[After it's been too long for there to be any hope of a drowned person to come up, he is standing behind her and looking thoughtful. He then speaks up.]

You think he's going to make it?

[frost_jewel]

[She has, by then, brought her hands up to her chest in worry and taken several steps toward the water. At the sound of his voice she turns quickly, looking first confused, then relieved, then scaling up from irritated to almost furious.]

You're fine! [Have you ever heard someone so angry about that?]

[bamfing]

[Angry as she might be, Kurt just has a huge grin, because she fell for it. He's an incorrigible prankster, he can't help it.]

Of course! It takes more than some wave to beat me.

[frost_jewel]

I was worried about you!

[from someone who pretty much never raises her voice, this is very loud.]

[bamfing]

[He should probably be feeling bad... but he isn't quite there yet.]

I'm fine! Ahh, but I didn't know you cared so much!

[frost_jewel]

Of course I do.

[But she's still mad, although helpless to do anything about his prank.]

[bamfing]

Come on, I'm just messing with you! [It's not as fun if she stays mad like this!]

[frost_jewel]

[She just shakes her head. So childish, Kurt. ...Of course, she did kind of know he was like that.]

Still. [Also, she's seen her friends almost-die too many times.] I really thought you must have hurt yourself.

[bamfing]

Okay, okay. From now on, less dangerous pranks, yeah?

[Or at least not the kind that leaves her worried about his well being.]

And now she is going to sit back down. No longer as angry, though. Just feeling a little tired.]

[bamfing]

[Well, okay. Different than what he'd been anticipating. He crouches down beside her, concerned.]

Why aren't you swimming?

[frost_jewel]

I haven't been feeling well.

[They are in a new conversation and none of her irritation with him is left in her voice]

[bamfing]

Really? What's got you down?

[Summer is the worst time ever to get sick, you know. There's a rule about it.]

[frost_jewel]

Down? [She's aware of the expression, but that wasn't what she meant at all.]

It has taken me a long time to adjust to my new limits here. I keep tiring myself, and it made me ill. And...so many people here keep getting hurt. [She feels responsible.]

[bamfing]

[Well, he'd meant what illness she had, but this answers his question all the same.]

You don't have to help everyone, you know.

I have the means and the ability. Suppose I chose not to, and then no one else got there in time?

[bamfing]

Maybe something bad would happen. Or maybe they'd be fine. What would have happened if you got hurt from being too tired to protect yourself?

[frost_jewel]

I know that it isn't the best course of action, if I mean to keep myself from collapsing.

[But I feel responsible.]

[bamfing]

You're not the only one allowed to worry about people, you know. [And she isn't even pulling a prank here.]

Of course I know that. When it seems as though the other person has help, I've only gone if asked.

[That's not really the problem. This kind of attitude used to work out okay at home because the amount of Psynergy it took to tire her out was ridiculous.]

It's just the way I can't...I do not have as much Psynergy to use as I should.

[bamfing]

We're all weaker. Believe it or not, I used to teleport way more back home. At least, when no one was looking, anyway.

[It's so much more tiring here. But it's not something he's giving up on, so he knows how she feels there.]
