What: See subject title!
When: August 14, 2011
Where: The beach!
Summary: What's a summer without going on a trip to the beach at least once?
Rating: PG13+? Depends, really.
[When one enters the beach, if they're the type of people to make beelines for food as soon as they step into a party, they'll notice that there are a few tables set up with a bunch of snacks laid about, along with a giant cooler residing at the end of the table. There's a barbecue going on too, though it'll be self-serve if you're hungry.]
[Otherwise, there's a bunch of sporting equipment laying about. A Frisbee, a few volleyball nets... Whatever you'd like to be there! Don't forget, there's always swimming in the ocean, too.]
(( OOC: Advertisements the party have been up since the start of the month, though poorly drawn by yours truly. Everyone's free to come, too! New Feather, or old. Feel free to start up your own threads~ ))

I see. Go ahead and start and I'll follow along once you've already got this sand castle started. [Never made a sand castle before. She'll just copy whats being done when she gets the idea. On the other hand if this just turns out to be some boring human activity, she might just leave.]
no subject
Have you ever built one before? It's been ages since I've made one myself.
no subject
Gensokyo never had a beach, so it would be correct to assume I have never built a sand castle. [She tries to match what Minako is doing by scooping sand up and dumping it into the bucket, all with one hand. She intends to keep the parasol open and in her hand for this.] Tell me human, what exactly is the point in this? [This isn't gardening, so how can it possibly be fun?]
no subject
People often make sculptures out of sand on the beach for fun, or out of competition. Castles are one of the most simple things to make, since -- -- it consists of mostly towers that can easily be made with a pail.
I used to make these a lot with my brother as a kid, though... I can see how it can be boring.
no subject
Simple, well then. If someone such as you can do it... [Looks easy enough. The bucket is filled with sand, and with a quick flick of her hand it's now upside down. Pulling the bucket away however reveals a crumbled mess of sand beneath it.] How incredibly annoying. What in the world did I do wrong, it looks so simple, and you even said so yourself. [She should have patted the sand down more...]
No no, it isn't boring at all~ [It is incredibly boring.] I'm sure it just takes a certain brand of people to enjoy such things. [Like boring people, clearly.]
no subject
You need to make sure the sand sticks together by compressing it with your hand; don't worry too much! That used to happen to me a lot too. That makes me a simple-minded person, doesn't it? Sorry for dragging you into this.
no subject
[Wait. Was that a giggle? Shooting you a quick glare Minako before quickly retrying. She makes a show of beating the sand down with her palm this time before turning the bucket over again. The tower comes out a little lopsided when the pail is removed, but at least it didn't collapse like the last one.]
Is this sufficient for a sandcastle? [Because when she heard sandcastle, Yuuka was expecting something a little better than towers of sand.]
no subject
One tower isn't enough to make a sandcastle, but it's a good start! It takes a couple of them before it starts to look like a real one, but you're getting a hang of it!
no subject
[Yup, it's finally got to her. This sandcastle making seems silly, and to top it off there's a human girl giving her thumbs up and giggling and it's too hot! ...
But no, Yuuka isn't one to 'lose her cool'. She's going to bide her time and wait to see if there's any fun of her brand to be had before leaving.]
Then let us make a few more then, so it looks like a spectacular castle~ [Biding time, just biding time. Sandcastle building is fun. Biding time.]
no subject
It's a shame that our hard work will have to go down sooner or later, isn't it? We should take a picture when we're done~
no subject
Hm, a picture? Does she really want it to be documented that she spent time playing in the sand with humans? The answer here is a resounding no.]
Indeed, a picture would be wonderful. But let us wait a little longer, there is still much more work here to be done. [Filling the bucket again, making another tower. She's working at a much slower pace to Minako to ensure she does most of the work here.]
no subject
You're right! If I remembered to bring decorations, we could've even placed a flag on top of it...
no subject
Well just as well I came prepared for such an occasion~
[If she's going to make it seem believable that this sandcastle thing is fun, might as well play the part right. In a few seconds a long stemmed plant with thin, tube-like flowers (http://www.desertusa.com/mag98/nov/papr/photos/chuparosa.jpg) sprouts from the sand. Plucking the plant from the ground, she pushes it into the top of one of the towers.]
By no means is a chuparosa any substitute for a flag, but perhaps it will be sufficient to make up for the lack of the real thing.
no subject
I think it's tons better than any flag.
It makes our castle unique, doesn't it? It's what sets it apart from the rest of the ones on the beach. Was that magic? ... It's really cool!
no subject
[There are no protests as long as Minako is gentle with the flower. After all, this was just some random bloom and not a part of her gardens.]
So you find my ability to manipulate flowers is 'cool'? It amuses me how humans find something that was quite commonplace in my world such a miraculous thing here. [The normal humans from Gensokyo would probably find magic flower powers pretty amazing too, but she never bothered using her ability in front of them.]
no subject
It's not something a lot of people have where I'm from, so I guess that would explain why. I'm capable of a few things, but they're not as... real, compared to yours.
no subject
[Wasting time, building a tower awfully slowly, patting some sand down here and there... Hold the phone.]
Being capable of something is far better than not being capable of anything at all~ Would you care to tell me what it is that you are competent at doing?
no subject
You could say I can do magic too, I guess.
I'm good with a naginata, too. Is there anything else you can do, besides form flowers?
1/2
[She's fairly certain she knows what a naginata is, having never seen one however. So there's a small nod there with an accompanying grin.]
Aside from the ability to control flora, I can provide my blooms with additional longevity. Should I ever desire it, I could cause sunflowers to flourish in the harshest of winter chills for example~
Furthermore-- [Oh, she best stand up for this...]
2/2 SANDCASTLE DOWN
[Pewpewpewpew-- A couple of flower-shaped projectiles fly forth from her hand and sink into the towers of sand they had been making. Petals and sand fly everywhere. Oh the carnage.]
Danmaku.
Why so cruel ;u;
... Ah.
You're pretty strong.
I know I'm terrible ;w;
[Well this was fun and everything, but it wasn't. She turns to leave now, kicking a little sand as she does in Minako's direction.]
Never engage with me in such pathetic excuses you humans brand as 'fun' ever again~ Otherwise it will be your head that meets the same fate as these constructions today.
no subject
... I think it's equally pathetic that this is what you're using your power for. Strong power or not, it doesn't give you the right to walk over people like this.
no subject
Funny, you voice your own views on what you deem to be pathetic as though I care about a human's own opinions~ Honestly, should you wish to continue squawking like this, please do so in regards to this 'magic' you possess. Otherwise do not open that beak of yours at all~
no subject
... Forget it, I'm going to have actual decency and not start a scene here of all places.
