Summary: What's a summer without going on a trip to the beach at least once?
Rating: PG13+? Depends, really.

[When one enters the beach, if they're the type of people to make beelines for food as soon as they step into a party, they'll notice that there are a few tables set up with a bunch of snacks laid about, along with a giant cooler residing at the end of the table. There's a barbecue going on too, though it'll be self-serve if you're hungry.]

[Otherwise, there's a bunch of sporting equipment laying about. A Frisbee, a few volleyball nets... Whatever you'd like to be there! Don't forget, there's always swimming in the ocean, too.]

[Sorry, dude, she's probably a bit too busy having fun to notice you right now.

Gliding under the curve of a wave and busting through the top of it, she laughs as she actually gets some air... with the aid of some bending.]

[So eventually, Katara will surf inwards towards the shore and dissipate her board to swim in and then walk towards the shore. About ankle-deep, she pauses to bend the water off herself and dump it in the ocean, leaving her hair wet because it feels nice on a hot day like this.]

That was amazing.

Um, how did you do that? With the water...

[Just. Wringing out some of that hair now. She glances back up at him as she does so.]

Oh - I was just having some fun with waterbending.

[She throws the mostly-wrung-out-and-now-in-a-loose-rope hair over her shoulder and walks up to shore. She smiles a little, still a bit exultant with a good session on the waves.]

I guess it's pretty unique to our world. I haven't seen much like it here either.

Both! [She turns to give him her full attention. She thinks she's seen him around before, but...] I'm Katara. What's your name?

[She'd be right in that respect since he volunteers at the clinic and lives with Rydia. And sometimes talks to her brother about the awesome that is meat consumption.]

[Blink. Oh, that's a little flustering. Um.

She laughs and inclines her head back, because in her world you only bow to royalty (if you are feeling very respectful - which she frequently isn't) or from a student to a master.]

Nice to meet you too, Ceodore. I feel like I've seen you around, but I don't think we've actually met yet. You've been here for a while though, right?

Yeah, it was a year in April. My friend and girlfriend help out with the Welcome Center, so maybe that's it. You're name's familiar too, can't place why though.

[She shrugs, her smile turning slightly pained.] I've been around a while. It's funny, I've never been in one place this long without knowing everyone before.

I'm sorry. How long has it been?

[Shrug] About a year and a half, I guess? My village at home was very small, and we'd spent the past year traveling so something like Luceti is a pretty big change.

Traveling sounds like fun. It's why I enlisted. Didn't get to do a lot before I was brought here though.

Um, you're not here by yourself are you?

[Having friends and family here is a blessing and a curse, but it does make things easier in a way.]

Katara shakes her head.]

No, there are actually quite a few people from my world here. My brother's here, and a lot of our good friends from home.

[And some of our not-so-good friends] What about you?

My father's here and a couple of friends. [Well, maybe not Kain so much but...] My mother was too when I got here, but she's been gone almost a year now. Same for other people I knew growing up. There were a lot more but they started going back.

At least Father knows me now. For the longest time, everyone was from well before I was born.

Very. It's strange. I miss Mother, but I'm relieved she's not here anymore.

But having your friends here is good. You're very fortunate.

No, I don't think that sounds terrible. It's not wrong to want to be with the people you love, or to want them as safe as possible. Unfortunately, there's just no having that both way in Luceti.
