Who: [livejournal.com profile] refinedmaestro [livejournal.com profile] consultmybooks [livejournal.com profile] folkloristic, [livejournal.com profile] shadedsunlight, [livejournal.com profile] polishrule, and [livejournal.com profile] readingwishbone
What:A long overdue dinner and a gathering of friends, new and old.
When: Early evening, Wednesday, September 14th
Where: CH 7, kitchen/dining area of floor 4 and maybe 5
Summary: A month ago, Ginia promised Giles, Frederic, and Helios dinner. Now that they're all finally back, and with new friends joining them, it's time to eat!
Rating: PG, PG-13ish if people want to get cuddly.

As discussed, no posting order due to all the people involved. First thread is cooking and set-up, second is for the actual dinner. If you want to do a specific thread (like Helios blowing something up), put any pertinant info in the subject. Timeline is roughly chronological, thread jump at will, and have fun! Prose or action tags are good.

...And let's not set CH7 on fire.

"Yes. You were. Um, f-far more helpful than I probably should have expected, e-even if I was in my right mind. But I can, um, certainly understand. I-If you're both still...'bitter'."

Frederic's words. Not his. Giles uses checking the bags for damage as an excuse not to look over at Poland.

Poland isn't all too sure what to say to that. He's irritated about the night, but not bitter. Feeling bitter was too easy and something Poland tried to avoid because it wasn't fun.

"Uh..."

He's not very good socially as it is. "Good?" That seems kind of wrong. "Thank you? I'm not bitter?" Poland's been trying to be polite to people he's pretty sure Frederic would want him to be polite to. But how to answer this one is hard.

Huh. Someone as apparently nervous around being new people as he was.

...that was kind of nice. He smiles faintly, actually looking up at Poland again.

"It is nice to, um, properly meet you. I've heard a great deal about you, o-over the last couple of months."

It was a rare thing to meet people this nervous around new people. Nice, though. Poland's just relieved he isn't being pushy.

But that last bit makes him worry. He knew Helios knew about him and Frederic. He didn't want to know that anybody else knew. "What'd you hear...?"

"Not very much." It's an apologetic sort of admission. "Honestly, I'd...never heard your name, but for that one experiment where we all thought we were different people, a-and the day you were sent back.

Mind helping me carry this?"

Safer topics of conversation seem to be called for.

[identity profile] polishrule.livejournal.com 2011-09-16 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a relief. He'd been afraid he'd say something about dating and Poland relaxes some before he's asked to carry bags. Would he mind? Yes. Can he say that? No.

He nods. "Um, okay."

The lighter of the two bags is passed over. Giles leads the way back into the kitchen.

"Did you, um, did you m-manage to make anything?"

What is small talk?

[identity profile] polishrule.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Small talk is a useless thing and Poland follows after him.

"Um. Yeah. I like, made kielbasa."

"Excellent choice. I, um, more or less just brought the English food."

[identity profile] polishrule.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Poland frowns at that because all he can remember about English food is the stuff that England actually makes. "Uh. What kind?"

"Steak and kidney pie. Rice with fish. Vegetable soup. Sound all right?"

Giles isn't terribly fussed. Most everyone he knows doesn't know much about English food. Sad, but a fact.

"And like, how good of a cook are you...?" It's kind of a rude question, but he's a big fan of good food. He didn't know much about English food and he'd only tried England's food as a sample. Nasty, burnt things.
