The surprise party for Elliot's birthday was probably one of the worst-kept secrets in the household, especially given how much cooking Gilbert had to do to prepare for it, but he'd done his best not to let Elliot know what was going on. And now the day has arrived, and the whole household has been invited, along with any of Elliot's friends. Does Elliot have any friends

The house is open to any and all guests, and there's plenty of food, tea, and cake for everyone. Come in and mingle and say hi to the birthday boy! He won't really hurt you. Promise.

[That's... uh. What is that. It's intelligent?]

...Chuchu? So, it's, er. Something from your world, then?

She's a Pokémon! A Pikachu, to be specific. They're basically like the animals here, or the ones in your world! [...wait gotta make sure about this um.] ...Um, you're from the same place as Elliot, right?

Oh. Yes, I'm his brother.

...adopted. Brother.

Er. You're a friend of Elliot's? [That's almost as unusual as that Pokey-thing with her.]

Oh, really? Well it's nice to meet you, Elliot's brother! [smile smile]

I didn't meet him that long ago, but yep! I am. And my name's Yellow, by the way. What's yours?

[Poor Elliot haha.]

Ah. Yes, pleased to meet you. I'm Ra— Gilbert Nightray.

[moehealer]

Ragilbert?

[Tilting her head a bit. That's a strange name!]

Just Gilbert.

[moehealer]

[But but... What about the "Ra"...]

Oh, um. Okay, Gilbert!

[chainedraven]

Right.

[He clears his throat quietly. Time to change the subject.]

So how do you know Elliot?

[moehealer]

He was really hurt for some reason and was asking for healers over the journals, so Chuchu and I went over to help him out. So that's pretty much how we met, I guess!

[Though it wasn't really the best way, with him being injured and all. But as long as he's fine now, it's cool.]

[chainedraven]

Hurt? He was hurt? When was that?

[Recently? How did he now know, then? What is this?]

[moehealer]

[Oh did Gilbert not know, maybe..?]

Umm... I think it was almost two months ago now. I'm not completely sure though.. [Headscratch. Hmmm.]

[chainedraven]

Two months a— oh. Oh, was that... it must have been when he returned.

So you helped him? Thank you.

[moehealer]

Returned? So that's what happened..?

[Though it really doesn't explain much, but hey! Maybe it's kind of like what happened with Frey. Only with... dangerous things happening. Or something. He's fine now though, so no need to worry about that, right?]

But yep! You're welcome. I was just happy to help him. [Chuchu hops up onto her shoulder and nods as well, as if to be saying the same thing.]

[Gilbert manages a small smile, though she's still a bit of a stranger and he still isn't good with strangers, so it's not exactly... terribly visible. But there's an effort!]

Are you a doctor, then?

[moehealer]

[Yellow can tell that there is at least some effort, so she gives him a big smile! And then she shakes her head.]

Not really. I just have the ability to heal things. [And read the thoughts and emotions of Pokémon.]

You... heal things? Like what people say they can do with Nala?

[moehealer]

Nala? [..head tilt.] What's that?

[chainedraven]

[...oh. Guess not.]

The filial spirit? You haven't heard of them?

[moehealer]

...Oh, right! [Sokka did mention those, didn't he... Whoops.]

Yeah, I've heard of them. But I was able to heal things even at home, since I was born that way.

[chainedraven]

Really, you were— it's a normal thing where you're from?

[moehealer]

Not completely... there are just a few kids from the Viridian Forest like me who get that. [Very few. And unfortunately, one of them didn't exactly put that power to a good use.]

[chainedraven]

You didn't have to do anything special to get that ability? It just... happened?

[moehealer]

Anything special? Um... nope! I just got it. And I can hear the thoughts of Pokémon like Chuchu, too.

[And she sees nothing surprising about this. She normally wouldn't be talking so openly about it buuut... if he's Elliot's brother, then there shouldn't be a problem with it!]

[chainedraven]

[Gilbert gives Chuchu a mildly puzzled look at that.]

Oh. I... see.

[Sort of. But not really. But that's all right. He remembers his manners again after a moment and inclines his head with somewhat stiff formality.]
