The surprise party for Elliot's birthday was probably one of the worst-kept secrets in the household, especially given how much cooking Gilbert had to do to prepare for it, but he'd done his best not to let Elliot know what was going on. And now the day has arrived, and the whole household has been invited, along with any of Elliot's friends. Does Elliot have any friends

The house is open to any and all guests, and there's plenty of food, tea, and cake for everyone. Come in and mingle and say hi to the birthday boy! He won't really hurt you. Promise.

[Gilbert's main focus is keeping an eye on the food, since he made it and feels responsible to ensure that the refreshments stay well-stocked. It also gives him a very convenient excuse to not mingle with any guests who might show up, since he's never been that sociable a person to begin with, but if anyone would care to corner him he'll be around.

[During one of Gilbert's attempts to hide, Elliot seeks him out, and when he finds him, it's not a quiet greeting he receives.]

...Gilbert. What are you doing?

[Is he upset? Hopefully he isn't upset. It's his birthday, so it's supposed to be a party for him.

Besides, it was Leo's idea, anyway.

Gilbert just frowns back at Elliot and shrugs a little uncertainly.]

[All Leo had wanted to do was wash his hands at the kitchen sink but seeing someone just...peering near the doorway all furtively is rather distracting, yes. It's as if they're trying to hide and that isn't quite. Normal.]

[He isn't hiding, he's just... lurking. Sort of. Staying out from underfoot, because then he'd have to try to be sociable and who knows what kind of awkwardness would ensue then.

Gilbert gives Leo an almost startled look when addressed but looks away again quickly. He isn't doing anything, no.]

Not much of a fan of parties, Gilbert?

[It's okay, Richard understands that. He's been to so many in his life that he's downright sick of them by now.

And yes, he did just sort of appear out of nowhere. He can be a ninja like that sometimes.]

[Gilbert glances sharply at Richard, relaxing just a fraction when he realizes this isn't the blond he was trying to avoid. At least, not quite as actively.]

[Did someone say food? Because Jack is rather hungry and those refreshments are awfully tempting.

And he's not coming back for a third helping, nope, not at all. Totally innocent here.]

[Gilbert is standing at the food table setting out some more sandwiches when Jack arrives, which means he can't easily just... hide. Like he has been for most of the party thus far.

He does pretend not to notice that someone else is there, though, and just keeps working. He's moving just a little faster now, though, the better to get back into the kitchen quickly.]

[Elliot had the feeling that Gilbert seemed unusually busy today, but he'd tried to ignore it. What does he care what Gilbert does with his free time here? But this was not a typical dinner, that much became apparent fairly quickly.

It's kind of... irritating. Somehow, now that it was his own birthday, he didn't really want anything to do with a celebration. Whose brilliant idea was this? He should punch them.

On the plus side, at least the "guests" are mostly just housemates, so they aren't people that he isn't familiar with. It's the only thing that prevents him from attempting to lock himself up in his room. As such, he can be found... well, around at any time during the afternoon. He has to talk to everyone here, after all!]

[Not only had Gilbert been busy, but the rest of the house had been by and large banned from the kitchen. Gil's willingness to let them all starve (outside of Oz and Jack, for some reason) really should have been a clue, but Elliot had been surprised anyway. At least, Vincent thinks surprise is lurking somewhere beneath the frown.

Ah well. His brother has always had his own special way of scowling at everyone around him. Certainly it's nothing new to Vincent, who finds Elliot actually acting like a proper noble--so long as the definition is limited to "not locked away from everyone in his room," at least. Vincent will take advantage of it regardless, making his way over to Elliot when the younger Nightray is unoccupied.]

[Being at the center of attention isn't something Elliot is entirely comfortable with, even if the people here are his friends and family. That's why it's still pretty embarrassing to hear such a comment from his brother, even though it's something he should be expecting, something that could never be avoided in this kind of situation.

[Having only just come to Luceti, it was really a surprise to find out she'd arrived just in time for a birthday party. Nevertheless, here she is, cheerful and smiling and hoping Elliot has somehow gotten over his fear of Vessalius cooties after living with them who knows how long.]

[Nothing. Nothing, really. Once he's talked to some of the others, he's content to just stand back and watch while everyone else does their thing. Being at the center of attention was rarely a good thing for him, so it's a relief when he can just stand off to the side for a little while.

[After hearing about Elliot's birthday--and the party for it--Yellow decided to come on over! She also brought along her Pikachu, Chuchu, since she follows her around everywhere anyway.

She's mainly just glancing around for Elliot to wish him happy birthday, a sheet of paper in hand with some sort of drawing on it. Totally a birthday present, yep yep. I DUNNO come say hi. Question her drawing. Question the fact that she brought this adorable mouse thing with her. or something. ...Elliot sure has an interesting family. :'|a]

He realizes he's starting to stare an instant before it would be considered rude and instead blinks, glancing up at the girl uncertainly.]

That's Yellow over there, isn't it? Yes, it definitely is. He wonders who he can blame for this... Probably Leo, he was such a nosy servant. That isn't to say that he didn't want her here, because she was definitely a friend, he just wasn't expecting anyone besides his housemates.
