Who: Everyone!
What: Thanksgiving + New Feather party.
When: Evening of the 20th.
Where: School cafeteria, nicely done up.
Summary: There's food. And there's also board games, are you game for some Snakes and Ladders?
Rating: Let's put this all over the board. Strange stuff can happen, man.
[Thanksgiving may not be a familiar holiday to most in Luceti, but everyone understands potluck, at least! Hopefully. Preferably.

It's all done buffet-style as usual. Thanksgiving stuff greets you first when you grab a plate and get in line at the buffet lines (food and drink provided by everyone, Thanksgiving stuff courtesy of the Welcome Centre and Ginia). Though of course, don't think that you have to stand in a line while eating! There's tables and chairs for sitting and talking and— eating, obviously. Reach out and grab a drink! If you get one that's been prepared by the Welcome Centre, it's non-alcoholic. Can't really say the same for anything else brought by others, so you may want to be careful. Y'know, just in case.

'course, there's also board games if you're interested in 'em. Just check out that corner over there!]

Kyon, on the other hand, was definitely in favor of quiet affairs. Whenever possible, which was not always, to say the least. He looked up at the other person, a little bit blankly.

"I am eating it, yeah," he said in response. It might not have been a particularly adequate response, but he didn't know what else to say.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
It indeed wasn't the right thing to say. Lupin frowned at the person he was trying to talk to.

"I see that...but is it good?"

His first question hadn't been answered yet either. It just gave Lupin more reason to stick around--he liked a good challenge.

"Well, I would probably try not to eat it if it wasn't," Kyon replied. The obfuscation was half his personality and half avoidance, in general.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh? So you do like it?" He had dealt with far less forthcoming individuals before. Most notably, he knew how to talk to a fellow Luceti resident who was short on words and long on sword skill.

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-22 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose the short answer would be yes," Kyon replied with a shrug.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"If the short answer is 'yes', then why didn't you just say it?" For a guy who wasn't into talking, he certainly was into talking...
menial: (* i'm wary but i'm listening)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-22 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
After a fashion, at any rate. That reply sounds a little like me, to Koizumi, he thought. Am I really gone that far?

"It didn't really seem like that important of a question," he said, instead.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, I guess you do kinda have a point there..." Lupin trailed off for a second.

The silence barely lasted for more than a breath. "So, are you new around here?"
menial: (& do you do that often?)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-23 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Kyon was tempted to sigh for a moment, but refrained. "Yeah," he said.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I see, I see." Lupin grasped at straws to continue the conversation. The kid, whomever he was, was better than having no one to talk to.

"...what's your name?"
menial: (& uhhh sure!)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-23 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
For some reason, Kyon preferred that someone this persistent would just have his nickname. "Kyon," he said. "At least, that's what people call me." Is that what assassins say about their names, too?

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That was an acceptable enough answer. Lupin suspected that half of his usual companions went by an alias anyway--it didn't matter much to him. "Neat nickname. You can just call me Lupin then."

Since they were being on a nickname basis, there was no need to give his full appelation...yet

All of Luceti would know his name eventually anyway.
menial: (* i'm wary but i'm listening)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-24 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not that neat, in his opinion--but he simply nodded. "Yeah, okay."

He stopped for a moment, glancing around to let a pause in. Maybe it's getting a little awkward. Well, it was always, anyway...

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-24 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
The conversation indeed was getting awkward. Lupin thought quickly for a means to save it. "Umm..hey. What's your world like?"

...yeah. That didn't save him from the growing awkwardness.
menial: (& uhhh sure!)

haha too realistic...

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-24 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"It's pretty normal, I guess." He was damned if he'd start talking about the odd parts, anyway. "There's high school. There's people who work at jobs."

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-24 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
"...yeah. That sounds a lot like my home too." Lupin would probably have started detailing his resume at that point, if he were infront of a willing audience. Kyon didn't look like such an audience.
menial: (& backing off now)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-24 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, that's how I figured most normal things were," Kyon replied. Of course, that's by a certain floating standard of normality that nothing actually seen has achieved.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-24 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Most normal things are like that," Lupin said. "I just thought that people from other worlds would have something that made them unique, that's all. You know, like magic or aliens or something."

He didn't mention his dislike of normalcy, nor the fact that he was capable of stealing the Statue of Liberty. Again, the audience didn't seem willing.
menial: (* ccccccertainly not)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-25 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyon bit his lip. "Yeah. Well, you're not the only one who expects that." Why do these thoughts always come back to her again, anyway?

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"I figured as much. People seem like they're basically the same no matter what world they're from." Still, Lupin held onto the thought of meeting and taunting an alien. He couldn't help it.
menial: ($ why do people not give me space)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-26 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyon involuntarily glanced over at the guy giving off sparkles and the talking bird across the room.

"...Maybe," he said. "Some of them seem pretty different, too."

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Lupin followed the kid's gaze.

"Huh. Guess you're right. There's hope yet!"
menial: (* ccccccertainly not)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-26 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hope?"

For abnormality?

He sounds very much as if the word is acidic in his mouth.

[identity profile] redjacketthief.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"For something interesting to happen."

Lupin doubted that Kyon would understand. He sounded like the kind of guy who could eat plain rice every day of his life, regardless of any complaints he may have about it.
menial: (* ccccccertainly not)

[personal profile] menial 2011-11-26 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyon had a dark expression on his face. No need to hope, really.

"Just wait," he said.
