Who: Everyone!
What: Thanksgiving + New Feather party.
When: Evening of the 20th.
Where: School cafeteria, nicely done up.
Summary: There's food. And there's also board games, are you game for some Snakes and Ladders?
Rating: Let's put this all over the board. Strange stuff can happen, man.
[Thanksgiving may not be a familiar holiday to most in Luceti, but everyone understands potluck, at least! Hopefully. Preferably.

It's all done buffet-style as usual. Thanksgiving stuff greets you first when you grab a plate and get in line at the buffet lines (food and drink provided by everyone, Thanksgiving stuff courtesy of the Welcome Centre and Ginia). Though of course, don't think that you have to stand in a line while eating! There's tables and chairs for sitting and talking and— eating, obviously. Reach out and grab a drink! If you get one that's been prepared by the Welcome Centre, it's non-alcoholic. Can't really say the same for anything else brought by others, so you may want to be careful. Y'know, just in case.

Now that's more difficult to picture, but he can use his imagination. Taking a moment to contemplate this, he finally declares, "You're really active, Pao-lin."

"Yeah, I like being active," she says. "It feels good to move around. It's partly why I like working for HeroTV!" Because then she's allowed to do things like play hopscotch across the tops of cars driving on the highway so she can catch up to fleeing criminals. (Yes. This seriously has happened.)

Pao-lin knows exactly what she wanted and wants, and at such a young age. Hubert's rather envious of her assertiveness. But who's he to be envious of a Hero? "It must be nice." Frank as his response is, he means it most sincerely.

Aaaand done with clearing out the turkey on her plate, along with half of the mashed potatoes! "Mm-hmm. But I probably can't be a Hero forever, so I have to figure out what else I want to do..."

"I'm sure it'll come to you. You did figure out what you wanted to do when you were five . . . " He pokes at what remains of his food with a fork.

"Well...not really. I got my powers when I was five, but I didn't really know about HeroTV until someone came to recruit me for it a couple of years later." Her cheerful expression fades a bit as she remembers her childhood. "Before that, I didn't think I was going to be good for anything..."

He panics a bit at the drop in cheeriness, hastily throwing in, "But you did turn out to be good for something. A lot of things!" Hubert calms. "That's what matters now, right?"

"Hmm...I guess you're right. I'll figure that out when I get to it." She's about to take a bite into a piece of cornbread when she seems to realize something. "Ah, I'm sorry, I've been talking all this time and haven't let you say anything!"

Hubert is staring down his plate when she apologizes, to which he blinks and looks up. He appears to shrink back at her words. "Well, I don't really have anything to share. I'm not an incredible Hero like you . . . "

Another moment of thought. "Well...you know how we're going to paint our favorite things from our own worlds on the mural in a couple of days? Tell me what you'd paint."

"I'm not sure . . . " He doesn't fancy himself an expert painter, which makes this all the more difficult. "Maybe I'll try the manor."

"The manor?" Have a Pao-lin gazing interestedly at you, Hubert.

He nods. "The manor in Lhant. It's where Brother and I live." Their home, in other words. Right now, anyway, and that tiny consolation prompts a small smile from him.

"I've never been to a manor before -- what's it like?"

"Well, ours is two floors, and it's pretty big. We share rooms, so there's a place for guests to stay. Um, there are also maids to clean and cook, and . . . " he trails off. It's such a normal thing for him that he has to think about what details might be out of the norm, especially when Pao-lin doesn't come from Lhant.

Pao-lin blinks. "You have maids to clean and cook? My parents do all that stuff...and I usually have to help out, too."

"I think it's a good skill to work on," he comments. "It's because Father's busy with Lhant and Mother has her own things, and they can get work that way." And considering his status, it's unsurprising that Aston would employ people to work in the household.

"What exactly do your parents do on the manor?" she asks. This is a completely new concept to her; she's only familiar with middle-class city living.

"Mother looks out for me and my brother." She tries, anyway. Asbel is obnoxiously rebellious and egocentric, but Hubert's not going to share that. "Father's usually busy taking care of the town, because he's the lord."

"Whoah, your dad runs a whole town?" Yep, definitely foreign concept to her. "So he's, like, the mayor...or something."

"Basically. He wasn't elected, though." They're born into the position, after all. Just like how Asbel will succeed their father. "Aren't there lords and a ruling family where you come from?"

Pao-lin taps the fork to her lips as she thinks. History: not her strong point. ~~Not this mun's, either.~~ "I think there used to be, in Hong Kong. But that was a long time ago, and I don't think America's ever had anything like that." Not in the sense that Hubert's probably thinking of, anyway.

"Is America anything like a republic?" he asks out of curiosity. Maybe they can have more in common than he thought. She was around his age when she moved, at any rate, though she'd already done so much within eleven years than he could even hope to achieve.

"Hmmm...well, everyone is elected there," she says. "No one inherits a position, like in a monarchy or anything. There's the president, who's the leader of the country, and then there are two different houses that have representatives from each of the fifty states."

States. That's a new concept. But -- "F-fifty? That's a lot." He isn't entirely sure what America's like, but he feels a certain respect for the president at that instant.

Wow. Only he can manage that with his buttmonkey status. /sob

It's his fault for being so girly...or so serious. IDK, either one. XD

FOOD EVERYWHERE, Pao-lin can eat 90% of it.

And then nag Hubert for not eating moar. "You'll get sick if you don't eat!"

Now that's not fair. "You can get sick if you eat too much, too . . . ;;"

No such thing as "too much food" for this gal. XD She really is a shonen hero(ine)...

Car hop scotching apparently eats up a ton of calories.

That, and comically missing the point. Hard work, yo.

So hard that it changes everything, eh.

It's practically another martial art to her. I swear she must train in it or something.

She should teach others how to do the same; we'd all love to hear the tips and tricks.

WELP guess we know what she's gonna do once she retires from being a Hero. :|b

I would watch that every time it comes on, ngl.

It'll totally be Hubert's favorite show once Pao-lin leaves HeroTV.

Yes. Yes, it will be. His first and favorite, ridiculous as the contents are.

He'll buy every single information product she puts out for the show. HE CANNOT RESIST.

NOPE, he will be her biggest fan. Being a fan is something he's very good at.

And Pao-lin will be his biggest fan too! (...and probably his FIRST fan, LOL.)
