Who: Everyone!
What: Thanksgiving + New Feather party.
When: Evening of the 20th.
Where: School cafeteria, nicely done up.
Summary: There's food. And there's also board games, are you game for some Snakes and Ladders?
Rating: Let's put this all over the board. Strange stuff can happen, man.
[Thanksgiving may not be a familiar holiday to most in Luceti, but everyone understands potluck, at least! Hopefully. Preferably.

It's all done buffet-style as usual. Thanksgiving stuff greets you first when you grab a plate and get in line at the buffet lines (food and drink provided by everyone, Thanksgiving stuff courtesy of the Welcome Centre and Ginia). Though of course, don't think that you have to stand in a line while eating! There's tables and chairs for sitting and talking and— eating, obviously. Reach out and grab a drink! If you get one that's been prepared by the Welcome Centre, it's non-alcoholic. Can't really say the same for anything else brought by others, so you may want to be careful. Y'know, just in case.

Hubert is staring down his plate when she apologizes, to which he blinks and looks up. He appears to shrink back at her words. "Well, I don't really have anything to share. I'm not an incredible Hero like you . . . "

Another moment of thought. "Well...you know how we're going to paint our favorite things from our own worlds on the mural in a couple of days? Tell me what you'd paint."

"I'm not sure . . . " He doesn't fancy himself an expert painter, which makes this all the more difficult. "Maybe I'll try the manor."

"The manor?" Have a Pao-lin gazing interestedly at you, Hubert.

He nods. "The manor in Lhant. It's where Brother and I live." Their home, in other words. Right now, anyway, and that tiny consolation prompts a small smile from him.

"I've never been to a manor before -- what's it like?"

"Well, ours is two floors, and it's pretty big. We share rooms, so there's a place for guests to stay. Um, there are also maids to clean and cook, and . . . " he trails off. It's such a normal thing for him that he has to think about what details might be out of the norm, especially when Pao-lin doesn't come from Lhant.

Pao-lin blinks. "You have maids to clean and cook? My parents do all that stuff...and I usually have to help out, too."

"I think it's a good skill to work on," he comments. "It's because Father's busy with Lhant and Mother has her own things, and they can get work that way." And considering his status, it's unsurprising that Aston would employ people to work in the household.

"What exactly do your parents do on the manor?" she asks. This is a completely new concept to her; she's only familiar with middle-class city living.

"Mother looks out for me and my brother." She tries, anyway. Asbel is obnoxiously rebellious and egocentric, but Hubert's not going to share that. "Father's usually busy taking care of the town, because he's the lord."

"Whoah, your dad runs a whole town?" Yep, definitely foreign concept to her. "So he's, like, the mayor...or something."

"Basically. He wasn't elected, though." They're born into the position, after all. Just like how Asbel will succeed their father. "Aren't there lords and a ruling family where you come from?"

Pao-lin taps the fork to her lips as she thinks. History: not her strong point. ~~Not this mun's, either.~~ "I think there used to be, in Hong Kong. But that was a long time ago, and I don't think America's ever had anything like that." Not in the sense that Hubert's probably thinking of, anyway.

"Is America anything like a republic?" he asks out of curiosity. Maybe they can have more in common than he thought. She was around his age when she moved, at any rate, though she'd already done so much within eleven years than he could even hope to achieve.

"Hmmm...well, everyone is elected there," she says. "No one inherits a position, like in a monarchy or anything. There's the president, who's the leader of the country, and then there are two different houses that have representatives from each of the fifty states."

States. That's a new concept. But -- "F-fifty? That's a lot." He isn't entirely sure what America's like, but he feels a certain respect for the president at that instant.

She laughs. "Isn't it? I was so confused the first time I moved to America and I had to learn their names and capitals for my history lessons. That was so boring, too!"

Hubert, on the other hand, is intrigued by the idea, and there's a spike in his volume to reflect his rising excitement. "Do you think I could learn them?" Geography is a strong point of his. And he just likes knowing things.

Pao-lin's a little startled by Hubert's enthusiasm. What's so exciting about having to learn a bunch of state and capital names? But she indulges him with a smile.

"I'm sure you could," she says. "The library here has books on the countries from my world -- you could find one on America, probably."

He's a nerd, that's what.

Nodding to himself, Hubert clasps his hands together and thinks of when he should be able to access such books. "I'll be sure to read them. Maybe we can quiz each other afterward."

Pao-lin stares at Hubert for a moment...

...and then breaks out into a gigglefit. Proooobably not the reaction he expected.

"H-huh?

Oh no she's laughing at him, did he say something funny even though he was being completely sincere. Hubert panics. What if she thinks he's weird or boring? But she's giggling . . .

Pao-lin manages to compose herself eventually. She gives him a warm smile.

"I'd love to do that," she says. "I usually find studying boring, but I'm sure it'll be fun if I do it with you!" Too bad she won't remember any of it if she ever goes back home to Sternbild. But it's the feeling that matters.

Now that's not fair. "You can get sick if you eat too much, too . . . ;;"

No such thing as "too much food" for this gal. XD She really is a shonen hero(ine)...

Car hop scotching apparently eats up a ton of calories.

That, and comically missing the point. Hard work, yo.

So hard that it changes everything, eh.

It's practically another martial art to her. I swear she must train in it or something.

She should teach others how to do the same; we'd all love to hear the tips and tricks.

WELP guess we know what she's gonna do once she retires from being a Hero. :|b

It'll totally be Hubert's favorite show once Pao-lin leaves HeroTV.

Yes. Yes, it will be. His first and favorite, ridiculous as the contents are.

He'll buy every single information product she puts out for the show. HE CANNOT RESIST.

NOPE, he will be her biggest fan. Being a fan is something he's very good at.

And Pao-lin will be his biggest fan too! (...and probably his FIRST fan, LOL.)
