Who: Everyone!
What: Thanksgiving + New Feather party.
When: Evening of the 20th.
Where: School cafeteria, nicely done up.
Summary: There's food. And there's also board games, are you game for some Snakes and Ladders?
Rating: Let's put this all over the board. Strange stuff can happen, man.
[Thanksgiving may not be a familiar holiday to most in Luceti, but everyone understands potluck, at least! Hopefully. Preferably.

It's all done buffet-style as usual. Thanksgiving stuff greets you first when you grab a plate and get in line at the buffet lines (food and drink provided by everyone, Thanksgiving stuff courtesy of the Welcome Centre and Ginia). Though of course, don't think that you have to stand in a line while eating! There's tables and chairs for sitting and talking and— eating, obviously. Reach out and grab a drink! If you get one that's been prepared by the Welcome Centre, it's non-alcoholic. Can't really say the same for anything else brought by others, so you may want to be careful. Y'know, just in case.

[Not as hard? Okay, she's ready for her next turn. Taking the dice and dropping it very gently so it lands on five.] Ohhhh, a five! [That might be cheating... But she moves her piece along and lands on the bottom of a snakes tail. Looking at Pao-lin for a moment, then the snake. Does she doing something here?]

[Pao-lin shakes her head.]

You only have to move if you land on a snake's head or at the bottom of a ladder.

Oh. Okay.

[...Slowly moving her piece up the snake's tail anyway.]

Ah, no, you shouldn't do that yet. It's my turn now, after all.

[Oh. She should probably move it back then?

Yotsuba moves her piece half-way down the snake's tail and then looks back at Pao-lin. How do I snakes and ladders?]

[Pao-lin shakes her head gently, and reaches out to move Yotsuba's game piece back to where it had originally landed.]

There, see? Like that.

Ohhhh, so right to the bottom. Got it, you go all the way to the bottom of the snake, and not up it!

[...Wait.]

So it's bad to land on the snakes then?!

[Giggle.] If you land on their head, yeah. Because then you have to move backwards, when you have to move forwards to the end.

Snakes are very bad. Don't land on them Pao-lin, they make you go backwards, and then they eat you!

[This game is much scarier than she had imagined. Where's the age rating on this thing?!]

When it's your turn you best be careful, don't land on a snake...

I'll try my best not to!

[Rolling the die! She gets a two, but that puts her at the bottom of a ladder, so she moves her piece up it. As she hands the die to Yotsuba, something occurs to her.]

Oh, my name is Pao-lin, by the way.

Ohh, okay, I'm Yotsuba. That's Yotsuba's name. It's a nice name!

[Taking the die and... Staring at the ladder Pao-lin just moved up.]

Can you really climb a whole ladder like that so quickly? Are you some kind of afflete?

[Pao-lin laughs.]

It's not that hard to climb ladders quickly. You just have to be careful, that's all.

[Welp. Now she may-or-may-not try climbing a ladder as fast as she can the next time she has the chance. As fast as she can whilst being careful!]

Just be careful? Got it! Yotsuba will remember for when there's a ladder that must be climbed really fast. Set a World Record!

[Rolling the die properly this time. Six. Finally she moves away from that snake and instead lands on a space right in front of another snake. THIS IS TERRIFYING.]

[Pao-lin rolls the die and gets a three. One, two, three -- ooh, she just barely missed landing on a snake's head. Close call!]

[And Yotsuba audibly sighs once Pao-lin jumps over that snake's head! Are you okay, it didn't try to bite you or anything, right?!

...So she might be taking this board game a little too seriously. Taking the die and rolling it. Two! One, two-- AND NOW THE SNAKE IS DIRECTLY BEHIND HER. Will it ever end!?]

Pao-lin's next roll of the die nets her a four, which allows her to climb another ladder. This one is much shorter than the one she climbed earlier, but still -- Yotsuba better catch up!]
