DRAFT LOG #2: The Battle Game!

What: Fighting bad guys!

Where: The Mining Facility
Summary: It's an underground mine! And the Malnosso want you to kill and capture all the bad guys! Oh, but don't let the rocks fall on you. That could hurt.
Rating: B for BLOOD. Seriously. People are going to die. People have already died. We're not going to make it out of here. We're all screwed, it's Game Over, man!

[ he'd come upon the small troop of third party by surprise as they'd been about to set off explosives in one of the larger crossroads, but as luck would have it he'd arrived just in time to stop them. there had been five of them in total - four had been easy to take down, but one of them, well - he's proving to be a much tougher nut to crack.

and so barnaby's here where these four tunnels meet, engaging this elite with everything he's got, doing everything in his power to keep the winged warrior away from the detonator. he's holding his own quite well, and the elite is now favoring its right leg, but he's only got two minutes before his power runs out.

so yeah, HE'S TOTALLY GOT THIS but if you want to, you know, dive in, then i suppose he'll be okay with it. ]

[Pao-lin had just been casually strolling along one of the tunnels when she hears the sounds of a skirmish up ahead echoing off the walls. Curious, she unsheathes her butterfly swords and scampers over to investigate.

This of course means that she ends up running directly into the line of sight of the elite soldier Barnaby's fighting with, drawing his attention. Whoops! She can't get a clear shot at the guy's right leg at the moment, so instead she's just going to zap one of his wings. It's...somewhat effective, considering that the wings are armored. But the distraction should be enough for Barnaby to get in a decisive blow.]

[ the lightning arcs over his shoulder, and barnaby's back is to pao-lin so he doesn't see her approach -- but she's given him an opening, so he takes it without hesitation, leaping so high that the long antenna of his of his helmet nearly brush the rocky ceiling. and the back of his heel is colliding with the back of the elite's neck, smashing the steel gorget that protects it and slamming into that nice, neat little bundle of nerves at the base of his shoulders. the soldier drops immediately, unconscious, sprawled facedown on the dusty floor.

barnaby lands lightly some five feet beyond him, then turns, flipping up his visor. ]

I hope you don't think you'll be getting the credit for that one.

[ HES JOKING OKAY note the ever so subtle tug at the corner of his mouth. ]

[Aaaaand Pao-lin fails her Sense Motive check!]

[ way to be observant there, kid. barnaby just sighs and kneels to run the scanner over the nape of the elite's neck. ]

[Pao-lin glances around the area, and soon enough spots the explosives that the Third Party soldiers had been attempting to detonate.]

They were trying to cause a cave-in here, huh...

[ and with the soldier taken care of, barnaby snaps the scanner back on to his hip and moves to check out the explosives. ]

Seems that way.

We should make a note of it so Miss Daisy can come and deal with them. [A curious look at Barnaby.] Unless you know how to disable them? You had to deal with that bomb in Fortress Tower, after all.

[ he just shakes his head, and takes a knee beside it. ]

It seems rather rudimentary; as far as I know, they're just mine explosives, nothing that'd actually be utilized in true warfare, so it shouldn't be too difficult to defuse.

All right. But it won't take long.

[ because really, for all intents and purposes, all this is is gunpowder and a fuse, tucked neatly away in a little case. all he has to do is remove the fuse and cart the blasting sticks safely back to headquarters. so he pops open the wooden case without a problem and sets to work. ]

[Even if it won't take long, they should still be on their guard. Pao-lin turns and wanders around a little, checking each of the paths for intruders. She'll keep quiet to let Barnaby do his thing.]

[ and bada bing, bada boom, all done. the fuses are disconnected, and he's left with an armful of gunpowder tubes. which he is handling. very. carefully. ]

I'm finished, but these are still live; we should get them back to base to be properly disposed of.

If you don't need any help in carrying those, I can cover for you in case we get ambushed. [Okay so mostly she's just freaked out by the idea of carrying live explosives. But you can't blame her; it's not like she's wearing industrial-strength cybernetic armor, after all.]
