DRAFT LOG #2: The Battle Game!

What: Fighting bad guys!
When: Today (after 12PM) to the 19th, in the evening
Where: The Mining Facility
Summary: It's an underground mine! And the Malnosso want you to kill and capture all the bad guys! Oh, but don't let the rocks fall on you. That could hurt.
Rating: B for BLOOD. Seriously. People are going to die. People have already died. We're not going to make it out of here. We're all screwed, it's Game Over, man!

[As the rest of them retreat, Ace lets out a sigh and turns to Nami, holding out a hand to help her up.]

I meant like that. You okay? No injuries or anything?

None from you. Nothing serious from them. [Her leg is bleeding, but it's not falling off or anything. She'll take it as a win.] Thanks...

[Her eyes flick to the retreating survivors, though, eyes narrowing. Looks like they're making way for...something?]

That's good... [He lets out a sigh.] Glad to help.

[He follows her gaze, also wondering what they're doing.] Shit, what now...?

['What now' looks like a handful of Elites decided to up the ante. There's only three! Walk in the park. Nami herself has taken out four before. Okay that was in an exceedingly cheap shot, but details.

No problem, right? Only there's another figure just behind the Elites, hanging back as the three of them charge-- and a Shift of anti-magic settles down over the area.

For Nami, it's apparently business as usual, tip of her staff flaring to life wtih electricity as the three advance, flanked by the original survivors. Buuut she's taking a couple steps back and letting Ace take the lead, because her skill isn't a candle to the force Ace wields.

...you can feel free to find out your power's gone the hard way, Ace. :|b]

Tch! [That's all he says for the moment. He'd really like to keep the fighting to a minimum. That way he's helping out the Malnosso less and less. He notices Nami step back, and nods. Yeah, very smart move. He faces the Elites, ready to take them on as he holds his hands out in front of him. He was going to fire a Hotarubi attack, but....that didn't quite work.

Considering his flames kinda died.] What.......shit!!!!!

[Oh look at that, one of the Elites just smirks at him as he realises, just as Nami's kinda cluing in from behind that something's wrong.]

Ace...?

[That's about the point one throws a ball of fire in our direction. >.>a So Nami thinks diving for cover right about now is a great idea.]

SHI-- [He doesn't have time to finish his sentence before he too jumps to avoid the fireball. He rolls for a bit before swinging himself up, one knee on the ground and ready to run should it come to that.]

OI! Nami! My powers aren't working!

[He turns to glare at the Elites.] Did those bastards do something...

Shit-- Shifter! [Yelling from cover, as she considers a new plan. Plan B, Plan B, her staff still works--] They can cancel out powers! Magic or tech, just not both at once.

[Standing-- and noticing too late that the enemy is well aware who's affected here and who isn't. One Elite is heading for Ace. The others have all turned in Nami's direction.]

...oh.

[UM.]

Sons of bitches! [He saw the Elite coming closer, and noticed the others going for Nami. He quickly turned to Nami.]

Damn.....Nami, think you can handle them? I'll take out that Shifter and blow them out of here.

[He put up his fists, ready to fight hand to hand with the Elite.] I just need a few minutes.

[The answer to that question is no. She dealt with elites before, but that was a cheap shot, and the tunnels don't give her the space for the more improved uses of the climatact.]

No problem!

[Nami is a liar. But nevertheless, she swings the climatact around, trailing tiny clouds of thunder that flare bright and painful as they connect with the Elites attacking her. You might lose sight of her a second here.]

[He can't help glancing back every now and then, checking to make sure she's okay. His face shows visible worry when he loses sight of her, but the Elite in front of him almost struck him, so he focused on his own fight for now.]

Shit, I've gotta hurry this up.

[He leaves a flurry of punches and kicks, but the Elite is holding up pretty well.]

[Their best bet to get out of here is taking out the Shifter, isn't it...?

Her attack has downed one Elite, though for how long she's not sure. The others are smart enough to pull back out of range and Nami swears--

--then she takes a step back as they both summon fire.]

Ace--!!

[It doesn't sound quite like a cry for help. What she was going to say is lost in the sound of two fireballs flung across the cavern wtih expert precision, closing on her from either side. Nami throws an arm up to protect her face with a scream as they explode, hitting the wall-- and Nami-- directly on target.

...I'll get back to you on that.]

[he started to run over to help her, but it was too late. Before he could take two steps, the fire came into contact with her. He stopped for a few moments and just stared.]

No....not again....no, it can't--

[He only stayed where he was for another moment before turning around to glare at one of the Elites. They began to charge at him, but he quickly went into a crouch and jumped over them. He couldn't jump very high, but he managed to get far away enough from them, but close enough to the Shifter. He ran for a bit, trying to dodge their attacks, and swung down as hard as he could on the Shifter, breaking it into multiple pieces. He could feel his fire come back to him, and let his arms go up in flames, showing off his anger.]

I'll fucking kill you bastards for that. I'm done losing people I care for.

[The Elites don't even hesitate, rounding on Ace and deciding to fight fire with fire. Because that'll totally burn you, really.]

[Yeaaah, this can't go well for the Elites. He's at full power, pissed off, and ready to kill. He doesn't even hesitate to throw out a flurry of attacks, only hoping to roast them all.

Hey, Whitebeard pirates are all about revenge. One after the other, Higan, Hotarubi, Hidaruma, Hiken.....all the attacks he can throw, watching the flames rise around the Elites. They were trapped in a wall of fire, and starting to get burned from it. Ace glared at them, his rage building up, and was ready to just burn them to ashes. He would never forgive himself for losing Nami like that. But these people deserved to pay for it, and he intended to make sure they did. The Elites looked around, but were unable to find a way out. Ace advanced on them.]

You bastards are finished. [He then proceeded to make the flames rise higher and higher, closing in on them so they were trapped in a fire ball. He didn't want to make them suffer, so he made the fire rapidly close in on them. After it died down, nothing but burnt corpses were left over. His own flames on his arms died out, and he flopped on the ground. He got revenge.....but still felt defeated.]

[If he'd been less upset, he might have noticed the complete lack of corpse left behind by that fiery attack in Nami's case. Can hardly blame him.

It was a close one, anyway; she didn't have much time to separate herself from the mirage, so Nami's a little singed anyway. Not to mention a little dazed. Kind of lost a few seconds there.

And still nowhere to be seen. So don't be too alarmed by that disembodied --ow from nearby.]

[Ace wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings, but as soon as he heard the "ow", he jerked up and looked around. Sadly, from just that, he wasn't able to determine whose voice it was.]

Who's there? [He stayed on his guard, prepared to burn any other enemies to a crisp. He really needs to work on his temper.]

S'me. [Registering that it's now quiet as hell all of a sudden, right about now. Nami sits up against the wall and lets the mirage drop, her expression shifting from dazed to understanding as she takes in what Ace has done.]

...I guess you didn't need me after all.

NA-- [Okay, he's just gonna stand here and take this in. His eyes just widen at the sight of her. As he watches the mirage fade away, he turns back to Nami.]

So you weren't.... [Flops back down and lets out a huge sigh of relief.]

I'm so glad you're okay...

[...oh dear. Nami gives him a weak smile.] Sorry. I didn't really have time to warn you. No, I'm fine-- well, mostly fine-- it was the best way to not get fried.

[He shakes his head.] It's all right. As long as you're still alive, that's all I need to know.

...but what do you mean "mostly fine"? Did they get you?

Ahh, just a little. It's nothing serious, but it was a close call. [She bears her arm-- 'singed' is the best word, some first degree burns there.] I was a bit close.

[He pulls the medical kit out of his blue pouch, and opens it.]

Lemme see your arm. [Sorry if he's a bit out of it. Just trying let his mind catch up.]
