Summary: It's an underground mine! And the Malnosso want you to kill and capture all the bad guys! Oh, but don't let the rocks fall on you. That could hurt.
Rating: B for BLOOD. Seriously. People are going to die. People have already died. We're not going to make it out of here. We're all screwed, it's Game Over, man!

[And again, he's making this all about protecting her - them - whatever. All without giving them a chance to watch out for himself. Something in Rogue snaps.]

For Gawd's sake, Remy!

[She leans back now, twisting to shout over at Kurt.]

Kurt! If he comes with us, are you gonna be worryin' he's gonna shoot us in the back?

[She is fully expecting the answer to be "No." It's not as if they haven't worked with the Brotherhood or - heck, even the Acolytes before.]

[Day 1]

[bamfing]

[Kurt totally didn't hear any of that. So he turns around and tilts his head a bit.]

Why, does he have a gun?

[Day 1]

[She turns back to Gambit, her eyebrows arched and one hand waving towards Kurt and upwards as if to say: There, you see?]

[Breaking out the real name. Not "Cajun", "swamp rat", "gumbo", or even "Gambit." Somehow, that alone hits harder than logic, but Kurt's two cents being added in also helps.

Well, if he thought he stood a chance of slipping away again before, he definitely doesn't think he can now. With a shake of his head, the last remaining trace of annoyance fading from his expression. You X-Men and your second chances.]

Okay, okay. Point taken.

[Day 1]

Good. [She huffs and looks down for a moment, collecting herself, before looking back up at him.]

So are sticking around or takin' off?

[Because the following thing? Is done. No more sacrificial nonsense.]

[Day 1]

[Gambit idly folds his arms, a slight grin tugging at one corner of his mouth.]

An' leave jus' as it's gettin' interesting? Non. T'ink I'll be stickin' around.

[Like it or not, he's got your backs.]

Right.

[She wouldn't ever admit it, but there's a sense of relief and rightness at this.]

'course not. Come on, then.

[And she'll turn back towards Kurt and Melanie after casting one last glance down the tunnel. She starts working on peeling off a glove as she goes, approaching and bending down to touch a TP member along the way. She holds the touch a moment - the strange rush of power without psyche flooding her again - and moves on to the next one.]

Kurt. Melanie. Seems like we've got company.

[bamfing]

Great... One big, happy mutant family.

[... and one human. But he likes Mel more than Gambit, so that's okay.]

As long as nobody ends up dying, then it's fine by me. [Said in jest. (Sort of.) Unlike Kurt, Melanie has no strong feelings about Gambit one way or the other. So the more people there are to help fight off the Third Party, the better.]

[Wry grin. This oughta be interesting.]

Don't sound so excited now.

[...Rogue might already be regretting her decision, if these two are going to carry on like this.

She looks up from touch victim number three.]

He can help us, Kurt. An' I'd rather he do it from where we can see him. [For reasons she's already discussed with Gambit. And in fact, she glances at him now.]

This ain't the first time we've worked together. [Moving now because... yes, she is going to steal from every single one of these enemy soldiers. She's already feeling stronger.] An' until we're back home dealin' with who knows what, I doubt it'll be the last.

[Unspoken in this is the offer - if you have a real problem with this, though she doesn't think you will, or any sort of complaint, get it settled now. She won't ignore what Kurt has to say, but she hopes he'll see that this is the best way for all of them.

...and there's a part of her that hopes for Gambit, it'll be better for him in more ways than one.]

[Kurt won't be too happy about it, but he knows how to work with him. It's not like he needs to be reminded.]
