Summary: It's Helios' birthday so all of his friends are throwing him a surprise party. There's cake and cookies and mistletoe?

How do you celebrate the birthday of one derpy magical headmaster with an oversized sweet tooth? With lots and lots of cake and cookies. There are decorations, a table full of assorted baked goods and the occasional bag of chips or veggie platter to balance things out, and all of Helios' friends and Luceti family gathered to wish him a happy birthday on this special day.

Getting him out of the house was easy; Ginia pulls him out of the house under the guise of food and Christmas gift shopping, waiting for Giles' message that everything is ready before leading him back. And when they do return, it's all the people that care about him and wanting to make this day special greeting him with a merry chorus of "Surprise!"

[Ginia turns when she hears Helios and beams brightly at him.]

No need to thank me, Helios, it's what any friend would do. No birthday should go uncelebrated. [Even if she ignores her own.] You'll have to thank Giles for getting everything organized. I might have foisted that onto him. But happy birthday.

...Sorry we couldn't get you any strippers. [Trolololo...]

Yes I will certainly make to thank him when I finally run into him. [ Who knows where this will happen but watch it be under the mistletoe for kicks. Helios' looks back at her with his mouth slightly agape. Those sounds? Are the sounds of not having any words. NONE! ]

Ah. [ Why must you troll him so?! Helios can only...laugh sheepishly. ] I-I'm actually not all that upset about that, really.

[ Because, you know, Helios and strippers in the same room is a hilarious and slightly horrifying thought. ]

[Because trolling is love, especially when you have friends so easy to tease. Miraculously, Ginia maintains a straight face as she continues on.] Are you sure? Because I could probably ask around. Or heck, I could do it myself. What's a lap dance among friends, right?

[ There will be some stammering and oh gosh he looks so embarrassed. ] Y-Yes. I-I'm positive. It's um, yes...n-not needed, ever.

[ Why do you tease him so?! He's just...going to look at the decorations now. ]

[Ginia maintains the straight face for a little longer before bursting into laughter.] Sorry, Helios, that was horrible and cruel of me and I couldn't resist.

Oh yes of course, it was quite horrible. Tease the man whose birthday is today. I see how it is. [ His voice is anything but angry though and he might be laughing just slightly. ]

All out of love and affection, I promise you. Be happy you aren't celebrating your birthday in Davenport; we would have gotten you strippers and thrown you into a shark tank.

Yes, yes of course. That's what most people do say. [ There's a wry smirk on his lips. But yeah that shark tank stripper thing makes his eyes go wide with disbelief. ]

You're not serious are you?!

Completely seriously. There were some interesting birthday traditions in certain circles.

It certainly...sounds like it. But different places and cultures have different ways of doing things, so. I do hope no one got hurt doing that though. [ That would be dreadful! ] I-I suppose you took part in this tradition as well then?

No, no one at all! The trick was to never throw anyone into a shark tank with real sharks.

[A beat.]

...Well, there was one time, but there was a protective barrier between him and the shark.

Me? [A smile and a shrug.] Once or twice. After that I made sure to be out of Davenport on my birthday.

Ah y-yes not real. S-So they were fake or, um, like those float ones?

[ Well that doesn't sound too bad actually. Helios looks at Ginia with a wry smile on his lips. ]

Oh my. I can't say I blame you for that. [ He laughs lightly. ] Never had a birthday that exciting before. [ Really he's all but stopped celebrating his. ]

Usually! I really don't know how it began, but the full tradition is you take a number of shots of your favorite drink equal to your age, then you get pushed into a shark tank, a shark tank being any sort of tank or pool containing sharks of some kind, usually not real. I was pushed into a wading pool with gummy sharks one year. Those blue and white ones?

[There's a fond little smile as she thinks back on Davenport. It had its ups and downs, but there was certainly no shortage of excitement.]

I've since stuck to quieter celebrations. [Aka a cupcake or cookie and that's about it.]

Oh really? Those are actually quite delicious...I've never been in a pool full of them though. [ Helios can't help but laugh at that. It sounds rather amusing. ]

Sometimes quieter ones are the best. Depending on the person's preference really.

They are! The guys were nice enough to bag some of them after. The ones that weren't squished and everything. [She also giggles over the memory. Of course, there had been other fun things from the party, like going home with one of the strippers after, but that's private information.]

I like curling up with a good book and a drink.

It's food for thought for the next birthday to be celebrated. [ Helios laughs at his own joke apparently finding it hilarious. ]

Mm yes. A good book and some sweets with tea. But this? This is...rather wonderful too. I haven't had this in...a long time.

[Ginia laughs as well. Hey, it is pretty funny, but her sense of humor is also odd.]

I'm glad we could give this to you. Happy birthday, Helios, I'm happy you're having a good day.

[ Helios has the worst jokes but he's glad someone else is laughing at it. ] And I'm glad you could all be here to celebrate it with me. I-I know a lot of, of people went out on the draft today...and, and it must be hard.

[ His smile is compassionate and understanding. ] S-So thank you. I hope...everyone has at least some fun today as well.

[There's a brief moment where her smile slips. It's the first dray of the draft and there's too many friends and kids out there, but all she can do is hope for their safe return.]

I think everyone will. Hopefully you have fun too.

Let's get some cake into you. [And even if he's already had cake, there's always room for more cake!]
