New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

"Me dressed better than you, the fashion goddess of Luceti? I don't think so. And that dress? Is causing lots of feelings of jealousy, just so you know."

Which was pure honesty. That dress was awesome and even though she didn't know when she'd have another chance to wear something like that, Caroline desired it in her closet. It made her miss malls and credit cards and shopping for the sake of buying something you'd never wear but just had to own. All those normal girl things that were even more out of reach than they were back home.

"Kind of sad that more don't. Like that one over there." Shamelessly, she pointed to some poor sole in what looked more like pajamas than a dress. "Someone call the fashion police."

"How about we settle for being jealous together but grateful that we're both fabulous? I think it's a good compromise." She followed the girl's finger though to glance at the walking fashion disaster, instantly recoiling and shuddering.

"Ugh. Okay seriously? It's a party. Can't people put a little more effort? See, this kind of makes me feel terrible, like I'm not doing my job to make everyone the best-dressed. Guess I'm working over-time in the new year."

"Mutual fabulousness? I can work with that."

Why Caroline hadn't spent more time talking to Shiki, she didn't know. The girl was just up her alley, it seemed, when it came to snark and wit and love for fashion. She knew it had a lot to do with her own soul searching and dealing with things she'd put on hold back in Mystic Falls and was forced to do something with here, but the new year was time for new things and new friends, right?

"Not your fault she went to Wal-Mart instead of Nordstrom."

It felt good having another girl around that understood the important things in life, she had to admit. Shiki spent way too much time around boys, or around Haruhi. She needed more people like Caroline in her vicinity.

"I guess not, but come on. What kind of designer am I if there are still people that aren't wearing my clothes?"

"Maybe you should have a fashion show or something," she suggested. "Show off what you've got and rope in some more customers."

She paused then, thinking on this option. "Well...I had a fashion show when I first opened the shop, but that was almost three years ago. Maybe you're right. Maybe it's time for another one. But it's like...it's just me. I'd have to start planning now just to get ready for the spring line."
